The Scotsman who captained England! Here’s Mike Denness, who captained England between 1973 and 1975, holding the Benson and Hedges Cup after Kent won the final against Worcestershire in 1973. Denness seems to be another, largely forgotten England player of the 70s. He scored 1,667 runs at 39 in 28 Tests. He succeeded Ray Illingworth as England captain and, after a successful summer in 1974 , he was named a Wisden Cricketer of the Year.

@BenGrahamUK @FriseSally I just wish they'd plant a long line of trees along the roadside to screen Stonehenge from traffic on the 303. Perhaps it would stop people slowing down to gawp at it. The queues caused by people doing it are ridiculous.

The A303 Stonehenge tunnel has been scrapped after years of planning. £180 million. Gone. Not a single mile built. Not a single benefit delivered. Just taxpayer money burned. Who is actually held accountable for this?
