"I think there are an awful lot of business models that are predicated on “when Starship allows me to launch for $200 a kilogram…” I think they’re all broken, & all those companies are going to fail." "I think we’ve seen this play out already with Falcon 9 & the pricing around it, where the costs of Falcon 9 allowed SpaceX to deliver the Starlink constellation at a cost per CapEx that made them profitable. But they set the price in the market at something that just barely made it an okay investment to think about OneWeb or Kuiper or anything like that. So they ran that playbook exactly on Falcon 9, & they had their gross margins on Falcon 9—people think we’ll see when the S1 comes out—are like 50% plus. So they could have dropped the price, & they didn’t. They’re going to do the same thing on Starship, because why wouldn’t they? Their internal costs on Starship are going to be whatever they need to be to deploy Starlink & orbital data centers, but they’re going to set the price so that anybody trying to do comms, anybody trying to do orbital data centers—the price is going to be too high. A sustained presence on the Moon depends on delivering infrastructure to the surface at cadence. @NASAAdmin’s phased approach calls for regular cargo, surface systems, and scalable logistics. That means delivering rovers, power systems, communications, and habitation modules to the lunar surface. Our approach combines our Helios kick stage with an Impulse-built lander to deliver multiple tons of cargo per mission. Astranis is partnering with Impulse Space for our 2027 launch: SpaceX Falcon 9 to LEO, Impulse Helios direct-inject to GEO. This is our third dedicated launch, and with 6 satellites onboard, we will lead the GEO industry by number of satellites launched this decade. This partnership will cut our orbit raise from months to hours, a capability highly demanded by both commercial and government customers. In 2027 we’ll have 16 satellites in GEO — which, by our count, means we’ll operate the 8th largest commercial fleet in GEO (even after giving everyone ahead of us a 30+ year head start). We are nearly ready to start announcing our customer lineup for the new satellites, and by 2027 we will be serving enterprise customers across the globe, from telcos, to data centers, to oil & gas companies, and more. Everyone needs comms. And sophisticated buyers that have hard & fast requirements for security, independence, data sovereignty, and network visibility increasingly choose Astranis. After four months navigating orbit, #Mira — our first orbital transfer vehicle — has successfully completed all of its primary mission objectives! We celebrated the final milestone on Thursday with our eighth and most significant burn: 75 seconds in duration, achieving a 150 km apogee raise.  We think this is the largest single maneuver to date by a nitrous-based propulsion system and the largest orbit raise by any OTV on its debut mission. The ability to change an orbit by hundreds of kilometers within minutes demonstrates the type of rapid maneuvering capability Impulse wants to bring to the industry. Mira's time in orbit isn't over yet — we are continuing to test and fly, prepping for our next mission launching later this year.
