@daisyldixon As someone who did almost all the required reading in college and grad school, I hated the number of pages some classes required--felt like I was just blasting through volume with no time to absorb, engage, critique, remember. Often felt very superficial.

@AlanaFeral "Mind you people like you couldnt even point it out on a map 5 years ago lmao" That's such a colossal self-own, an admission of his own ignorance, and stunted morality. Pretty revolting actually.

"did Palestine break your brain" YES MOTHERFUCKER! Watching pieces of children get loaded into trash bags for a fucking year before the election SHOULD have broken yours too, and that's the fucking problem.
Dodo@DodoIsTweeting

@Nunya476247 @AlanaFeral @LawTeck @ContraPoints Did Palestine break your brain so much that it is the only relevant thing in your brain right now? Mind you people like you couldnt even point it out on a map 5 years ago lmao. Democrats are actually trying to govern the country, democrats advocated for restraint towards israel.

@barbarismcrit There is an inverse relationship between the vehemence of the radical centrist demonization of the left and the quality of the values they actually believe in.

@MikeOskam @haugejostein Which is a great thing if you care about actual freedom, responsive government, and self-government. The uber rich just bring domination and unfreedom in all kinds of flavors and then tell you it's a delicious meal.

I have indeed been to Norway — I am Norwegian and lived there for 23 years before moving abroad. I have also lived in the US. And I can tell you that the quality of life is *far* better in Norway than in the US. Any quality of life index would tell you the same.
Dan Eastman@DanEastman2023

If you’ve ever been to Norway you’d realize it’s a very lovely place but the people live very utilitarian lives and there is nowhere near the quality of life you find in the US. It’s a nice, basic place to live with no urban turmoil, an homogeneous culture and not a lot of sunlight…

@WalshFreedom It is evidently the fate of every politically right person who moves marginally left to then subject us all to lectures about how the Dems/liberals/left need to be more conservative.

@dbessner It's my favorite line from this pack of turnips. The 2x historical shellacking of centrists at the hands of thugs, morons and groypers, just gets excised from history, and it's those wild-eyed leftists who might misspeak that'll make MAGA ascendent. Just incredible dishonesty.

@PoliceThePolic1 He looks like he’s drunk in public. And who knows what other offense he committed. Clearly, he resisted arrest, tried to escape, and failed to comply with commands. I was happy to see onlookers step in and help the officers apprehend the suspect. Good job, everyone!

He refused to give his name. The response is instant escalation: they try to trample him with a horse, swarm him, tackle him, and punch him in the face, despite never issuing a lawful order or articulating a crime. Meanwhile, bootlickers cheer them on like it’s a sport.

@emily_lip The parking in bike lanes is a plague. On my daily rides around that area I can count on dozens of cars and trucks parked in the bike lane, often way more. The drivers don't care and no one enforces. And the unprotected ones are the worst for this.

spotted *SEVEN* cars/trucks parked in the UN-protected bedford avenue bike lane between willoughby and myrtle. the gridlock traffic was backed up all the way to flushing/myrtle and east to marcy/myrtle seems like protected bike lanes don't cause traffic — double parking does

@NYCMayor @T_Cloud4 I know a lot of people are saying this, but it is soooo refreshing to see how much this office communicates with the public, and has fun and a sense of humor doing it. A+

Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani
New Yorkers, join us in the first ever Mayor’s Municipal Madness: a competition of city fixes where everyone wins. City workers fix thousands of tiny annoyances every year, from broken basketball rims to bike path bumps. This year, we’re highlighting 16 of those fixes. From the exacerbating eight to the frustrating four, every item in each round will be repaired…but you’ll be voting on which fix will be done by me on day 100 of our admin. Round one of voting starts right now: nyc.gov/madness

@GrimKim We're always so obnoxiously blameless in our assumptions of our country's righteousness. Our overclass engages in moral reasoning at roughly the same level as a pile of gravel. youtu.be/XLGzFQg_1xc?si…

@lefty_md I dunno on clothes washers. I will never forget the section in Robert Caro's bio of LBJ where he talks about why rural electrification was so imp to him: The labor women did washing clothes was brutal and intense, and it literally shortened their lives.

this is my exact issue w/ dishwashers. they are said to be more water/energy 'efficient' than hand washing dishes, but the cleaning cycles take too long and I need the dishes turned over faster, so how is this a win for me in my day? similar w/ clothes washers +
Allison@ear2thepavement

@humantransit What’s the point of getting to zero emissions if the service sucks and people therefore choose driving? Seems like great service should be the first priority, and then you try to lower emissions. Does it need to be zero? I don’t know.

@barbarismcrit My first reaction is always "How are these people this dumb?" Then I have to remind myself that actually they are the snakiest, most cynical, mercenary scum suckers on Earth. Also, a lot of them are actually this dumb anyway.

@commie_trucker This thinking only holds under utilitarian moral assumptions where "less horrifying" becomes the morally defensible position over "more horrifying", while "horrifying" is what we should focus on because neither are morally defensible.

I should think that genocide is a pretty low fucking bar when electing a president. Instead of punching left maybe ask democrats why they can’t run a better candidate.
⚫️⚪️ Jamie is Drunk™️@FixinYourUglies

Not to be a fucking bitch, but I do wonder how the “we can’t vote for Kamala because we support Gaza” crowd feels, knowing they helped elect Trump and helped ensure Israel killed more people around the world than originally expected.

Says the guy living in Tulsa… Yes it has become safer, but it isn’t extremely safe, pretty strong word there to be frank. Further, if take the subway, everyone is constantly back to the walls and heads on a swivel. Nothing is going to be flawless, but we do have issues and weirdos on the train. It can be better.

Most children in New York City ride the subway and bus to school every day. It is extremely safe; indeed, New Yorkers are extremely protective of children on public transit and will usually intervene very quickly if an adult is harassing them.

.@SecDuffy: "I'm a Republican, and I love transit…You should be able to have your 14-year-old daughter get on a metro train in New York City at 7 o'clock at night and feel safe. And there's no way in hell I would ever put my daughter on the MTA in New York."
