@Keerthana4VNR since you seem to understand the importance of Office supply to create GCC ecosystem & the current gap , please also persuade the respective ministries and @CMOTamilnadu for making the required impact. 🔸Increase in FSI for actually utilizing the investment around the infrastructure like Metro to advantage of increasing office space supply to be competitive. 🔸Since the realization period of office infra is at least 2 years please expedite TIDCO to form JVs with Private RE to develop big quantum of office parks in Chennai and Coimbatore. TIDCO will have better control to handle LA for the same. 🔸Please increase the social recreational infrastructure around the city, ensure 24x7 opening of commercial establishments to keep it more attractive for talents. 🔸One of the chicken and egg scenario for the drag in terms of attracting talents has been the difference in terms of salary levels between Chennai and peer cities , though it can look as an advantage but becomes a problem in increasing the quantum of the talents interested in the location. Government can try and figure some sort of incentives for the companies to do compensation market correction for hiring of talents. It has a snowball effect. 🔸For everything of these things to work there is absolutely no way TN / Chennai can loose the prospect of building a new Greenfield airport to cater to its business needs given the Office , Cargo and MICE ecosystem it is going to create, so please please take Parandur airport continuance as your goal as the Industries minister. #Chennai #TamilNadu

Within just 40 days of taking charge, our government has delivered a major reform. Planning approval for high rise buildings in Chennai is now simpler and faster. CMDA can now directly grant planning permission, cutting long delays. This is a big boost for GCCs, R&D centres and large investments in our State. A clear step towards making Tamil Nadu the best place to do businesss! My heartfelt thanks to our Hon'ble Chief Minister Thiru. C. Joseph Vijay for this visionary decision. @CMOTamilnadu #InvestInTN #MakeInTN #ThriveInTN #TamilNadu

@cybermancyber It was a good argument so don't worry 😃. Yes compensation is obviously very important. There are good relief packages for land owners giving up land for the airport but the govt should look at improving it even more to convince people if needed.

@dyneshv Regret being silly just for argument sake. I am actually glad this project has got lot of acceptance instead of blind opposition with false narratives. Hope this new airpot become sucesss in parantur or elsewhere and those who impacted are properly compensted.

Economic illiteracy on display 🤦🏽‍♂️. Chennai is struggling to compete with BLR and HYD on high value finance and service sector jobs. Do these people think those jobs would go to Madurai if we built a new airport there? Without a Chennai gateway, investment will go to other states.
Aspiring Madurai@MaduraiGrowth

People of other cities in Tamilnadu are happy that Parandur isn’t happening. @CMOTamilnadu please focus on Madurai, Kovai , Trichy , Tuti and Salem airport connectivity, investments will pour in all parts of TN .

@cybermancyber No issues, it's always important to discuss these things without restriction 🙏🏽. We have to see every project on its merits and compare it to the base case of doing nothing. Expressways are also important and sometimes people oppose them blindly. A balanced approach is best.

@dyneshv Fair you are right. Airport is needed in parantur or elsewhere. I was engaging with few who opposed expressways citing all sorts of theories for narrow reasons and supported this airport. Somehow I jumped in your comment/post with same flow unnecessarily

This is the quality of debate one has to endure on twitter when talking about the new airport.
cybecsol@cybermancyber

@dyneshv People of kancheepuram don't want it. If chennai people want it they can have it inside city.

@cybermancyber Kanchipuram's economy is embedded in the KTCC region. It does not exist in a vaccum. Its industries rely on labour and infrastructure from across the region. If Kanchipuram does not want the airport, should we close the port in Chennai district that Kanchipuram's industries use?

@cybermancyber Now you're just blabbering nonsense. What sort of argument is that? First you start with Madurai now suddenly you're what, Kanchi's champion? Kanchi is part of the Chennai Metropolitan Area. Not some distinct urban location.

@cybermancyber Who is saying Madurai shouldn't develop? Why do you think everything is either/or? Govt can do more than one thing at a time. Everyone asking for Parandur is going to be very happy if Madurai also develops. But Chennai is 35% of the state economy. It needs a world class airport.

@NandaKu54835733 @ponni7 Chennai has always had to overcome its climate hurdles to be where it is today. That won't change. We should all think about what we can do to get it back to where it belongs, at the very top.

@RamKuma68033593 Undoubtedly true; the reality is that after newer airports siphoned off what you might consider their default share of what was once Chennai's market, they have subsequently done better at growing their markets. Again, the airport is not the only thing but it is a big catalyst.

@dyneshv My point was that Chennai's Int'l traffic is not growing fast because each region in TN/KL and Southern KA has it's own airport now. Earlier all the traffic used to be routed through Chennai. Those days are gone.

As I predicted earlier, Parandur Airport will not happen it will politically backfire TVK. Farmer have protested for 1000 days for this. He promised not to have airport in this place to those farmers. @TVKVijayHQ

🚨Parandur likely to be dropped while a Sipcot will come up there. A GO is expected shortly as per Hindu. Chennai will continue to suffer. Good luck finding a site which has no farms & water bodies. You have already pushed TN/Chennai back @CMOTamilnadu 👎 hindutamil.in/news/tamilnadu…

@RamKuma68033593 I'm not understating the importance of the rest of TN at all. Full disclosure - I spent many years working on industrial development projects, particularly for southern TN. But the risk is in thinking that manufacturing-heavy growth alone gets us to 1.5 tn within the target time.

@RamKuma68033593 Meant to reply to this earlier but anyway the UK is now heavily service oriented (80%) and most of its postwar growth is concentrated in London and the SE. TN will never reach that level of disparity nor should it want to but we will not be a manufacturing hub forever.

@NandaKu54835733 @ponni7 Also, Chennai is my hometown and I'm desperate to see it regain its glory. Just in case that wasn't clear. But relying on manufacturing growth alone isn't going to get us to 1.5 tn. For what is worth the airport will also benefit sectors like electronics here.

@NandaKu54835733 @ponni7 Actually IT on its own is like 10% of the economy. And I'm not talking about low level IT jobs that will go due to AI. I'm talking about higher value jobs in things like finance and technology. And if you think manufacturing will be here forever, I don't know what to tell you.

@ThePujaTeli It's quite hilarious that your larger point is you thought you could get away with accusing someone of hypocrisy and now have to pretend it's everyone else who doesn't get it. Crimes happen everywhere, Norway included but doesn't make their criticism of our media any less true.

Pretty staggering if Bengaluru Airport's economic impact is 5% of GSDP. Huge potential for MICE, services, and aerospace-related industries in Chennai if only we don't do the stupid thing of cancelling Parandur. news.griinstitute.org/en/real-estate…

@titoraja @UpdatesChennai @cmrlofficial Yeah that's much closer than Chepauk. Missed opportunity if they don't take it up. If they're worried about inter-station distance they could have one at Kannagi Statue and then one at Anna Square to serve both Ezhilagam and Island Grounds.
