If it feels like no one gets it, it's because they dont. Most people are focused on themselves. They can't see beyond their nose. It's not their fault, that's just how they are. If you are someone who's sensitive to other people's energies and you can really see what's going for them and empathize easily, being around people like that will hurt. You will feel misunderstood, ignored, stepped over... But the more you expect them to see you, the more you hope for them to see you, the more the fracture deepens. Let them do their thing while you do yours, find that one person who really gets you, and allow yourself to recharge in their presence.

Do you know what I find odd? People who can't identify accents. How do they not recognise them? Did they grow up under a rock? I love accents me, I'm bloody good at them too! If it was an Olympic event I'd be on the podium 😂 not skilled at much so I'll blow my own trumpet 💁🏻‍♀️😂

@The_Exit_Code It is a total mind trip to realize you have been standing in your own way for years because you bought into the lie that you were not allowed to actually walk through the door.

That’s not embarrassing. That’s the moment before freedom. Because holding the keys and not using them isn’t stupidity. It’s conditioning. You held the keys but you were trained to believe you didn’t deserve to turn them. That belief is what kept you trapped. Not the lack of keys 🔑

Narcissists are exhausting because nothing you do is ever enough. You try harder. You still fail. You adjust. You still disappoint. The goalpost moves constantly. So you’re running on a treadmill that never stops. That’s what exhaustion looks like.

@NomiCraft @An0rexik It is honestly a major eye-roll that people always want to blame a tragic origin story for why someone acts like a walking disaster, as if having a rough childhood gives you a permanent hall pass to treat everyone else like garbage.

Behavior is often a symptom of underlying, unprocessed emotions. In CBT, using emotional granularity to precisely label feelings helps clarify the thought-emotion-behavior cycle.

ND people are such honest communicators that our default setting is to believe other people's words are just as genuine, and NTs use that to gaslight us until we learn to keep skepticism toggled to "on"

My personal truths as a clinical psychologist: #298 When you ignore your own feelings, you can lose touch with yourself. *One of the ways we learn about ourselves is by learning about our own emotions. When a child’s feelings are ignored, dismissed, punished, or constantly brushed aside, the child often learns to do the same thing. Instead of asking, “What am I feeling?” they learn to push feelings away and focus on getting through the day. Years later, this can show up in surprising ways. A man works hard, provides for his family, and does everything expected of him, yet can’t explain why he feels empty. A woman spends her life caring for others but has trouble answering a simple question: “What do you want?” Someone feels angry all the time but doesn’t realize there is hurt underneath. Someone else feels anxious but doesn’t recognize the loneliness, grief, or fear driving it. Emotional neglect doesn’t just affect feelings. It can affect self-understanding. If you spend years overlooking your emotions, you may eventually lose touch with important parts of yourself. Learning to recognize your feelings is an important part of learning who you are.

And here’s what’s important: you’re choosing to stay on that treadmill. You know it’s ridiculous. You can see it clearly. But you’re still running. So the question shifts from ‘why are they like this?’ to ‘why am I still here?’ That’s the question that matters. That’s the question that leads to the exit.”

People talk about 50/50. But motherhood was never 50/50. Pregnancy wasn't 50/50. Birth wasn't 50/50. Breastfeeding wasn't 50/50. The mental load wasn't 50/50. Postpartum recovery wasn't 50/50. The sleepless nights weren't 50/50. The physical changes weren't 50/50. By the time the bill arrived, the woman already paid.
