@LikeAMadWoman22 @JBlunt1018 @JackPosobiec Only a US citizen can be subject to US jurisdiction. If a baby is born to foreigners, the baby falls under the jurisdiction belonging the parents. That doesn’t foreigners living in the US are not subject to our laws.

Alito is very smart for bringing up military service requirements. In countries with compulsory service (South Korea, Israel, Russia), even if a child is born abroad, they are still required to serve in the military

@jpkoch @JD_Mogz @RTWatchDesk @ronsterd89 The real question is it it a risk YOU are willing to take? if you are comfortable that’s cool. But most shop owners will not risk losing everything they own if some employee makes a mistake and a person or family is seriously injured.

Tires with 11,000 miles and a nail. Firestone told me they are not repairable. Firestone said this is not repairable because of the location and that I would need a new tire. It's a slow leak, about 1-2 psi a day. I am in disbelief that this is not repairable.. Can I not just get a fix kit? 🤧

@LauraPowellEsq What about the professionalism of the DOJ? They make utterly contemptible, nonsense, lie-filled arguments because that is all the Trump administration has on offer to defend their lawlessness. You're not going to like the next decade of retribution.

What is going on with the professionalism of the judiciary? The judge used 18 exclamation marks in his 35-page opinion. Four times, he started his refutation of an argument made by the defendants with “Please!” This is a formal legal opinion, not a casual conversation.

@Elisa_freedom @mrddmia We could do something novel. If these "citizens", who show up just to vote in elections and then return to their country are truly Americans, then they must pay US taxes - even if living abroad. Talk to expats about this. Every single one of them will need to file taxes

It appears as though the Supreme Court is going to constitutionalize birthright citizenship for Chinese birth tourists. This means Chinese nationals have their babies in America, return to China with these new American citizens, vote in our elections, and receive our benefits.

@theDevFiend @GuntherEagleman Learn the subject before posting. Your use of the word "settled" is wrong. Also, court rulings, even high court rulings are never "settled". See Plessy and Roe. They are just that opinions - legal opinions.

@GuntherEagleman Funny how “modern interpretations” conveniently ignore 100+ years of settled birthright citizenship. Suddenly history and precedent only matter when it fits today’s talking points.

Justice Kavanaugh delivered one of the sharper exchanges in the birthright citizenship arguments, pressing Solicitor General Sauer on why the 14th Amendment used different language than the Civil Rights Act of 1866 if they were meant to say the same thing. Sauer answered directly: The Court has long held they mean the same thing. The framers preferred the positive formulation "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" to clear up ambiguity with "Indians not taxed" while keeping the core requirement of full allegiance intact. Congressional records show they explicitly understood they were doing the same thing. Kavanaugh also noted Congress repeated that exact language in the 1940 and 1952 Immigration Acts. Sauer explained this was Congress codifying the constitutional baseline, not adopting a broader view. The structure of the statute treats subsection (a) as the constitutional floor and adds statutory citizenship categories beyond it. Justice Barrett then zoomed out on jus soli versus jus sanguinis, questioning how the Amendment blends elements of both. Sauer described it as a modified jus soli that still demands a relationship of allegiance to the sovereign, consistent with even English common law sources like Calvin's Case. This entire line of questioning reinforces what conservatives have argued for years: the 14th Amendment was never meant to be an open-ended grant of citizenship to anyone born on U.S. soil regardless of parental allegiance or lawful status. Modern interpretations have stretched it far beyond the framers' design.

@OsvuisOlmres @GeertPlas @AncPhi Pilot was not a Patrician. He came up via the Equestrian Class. Most men of that class spent decades as first military tribunes, and then Prefects. Pilot spent 20 years as Prefect of Judea, which is unique. Most ambitious Romans would have left after 4-5 years.

@GeertPlas @AncPhi He spoke Aramaic, like every Hebrew from that region, but lots of them also spoke Greek since the time of Alexander. What he probably didn't speak was Latin. During his trial, he probably spoke Greek with Pilate, who was, like most Roman patricians, bilingual in Latin and Greek.

The massive elephant in the room is the question how a state that hasn't had a Democrat governor since 2005, and one that has had a Republican trifecta for the last 18 years, was handing out CDLs to illegals in the first place. Someone please explain the globohomo math to me. Anyone?

@JBlunt1018 @JackPosobiec No, if you're a foreigner born here you are not subject to the US jurisdiction. You are still under the jurisdiction of your parent's country.

Very smart deflection but it doesn’t change the law. If you’re born here, you’re subject to U.S. jurisdiction. Full stop. Military service in other countries has nothing to do with how the 14th Amendment works. If that’s an issue why do we allow dual citizenship? You’re comparing obligations of citizenship elsewhere to the definition of citizenship here, they’re not the same thing. Stay on the actual issue.

@cnp2020 @WallStreetMav AI is making no jobs obsolete. Oracle has run up $156 billion in debt obligations to OpenAI, at a time when its market cap is halved. A year ago Larry Ellison was the wealthiest man on earth ($458 billion in net worth). Today, his wealth is half of what it was in 2025.

@WallStreetMav That’s one take. Or, maybe AI is making their jobs obsolete, and overpriced even at India wages. It’s a good thing they are cutting heavily in India, and not just the US. AI Investing counts against profit, but dinging them on it is a narrow short sighted view.

We're going to lose this country because "conservative" Supreme Court justices do not understand how serious the problem is. Roberts and Barrett seem to be saying, “it’s complicated and we should error on the side of everyone being a citizen.”

Interesting segment from today’s hearing on the birthright citizenship debate at SCOTUS: Justice Kagan arguing that birthright citizenship could logically exclude children of “sojourners” born on US soil because the nature of their visit to the US was never intended to be permanent. But the exclusion would not apply to the children of illegal aliens, presumably because when the illegal aliens illegally entered the country, their intention was to stay permanently, so their children born on US soil should be given citizenship. Interesting distinction that would effectively ratify the consequences of illegal conduct. Not convinced that’s what the Framers had in mind.

@Skizzle07364136 @greg_price11 The law uses the word jurisdiction. Foreigners are not fully under the jurisdiction of the US. They can be sent back home to their home nation. "Falling under the jurisdiction thereof.." cannot be applied if the person falls even partially under a foreign jurisdiction

@TaylorRMarshall @DoraDuRoi Several apostles were ordinary working men w no formal religious office. In re. to Temple system, they were not priests, Levites, scribes, or rabbis. They were laymen. The later distinction between clergy & laity is a post-apostolic development.. & there is nothing wrong w laymen

@NASA_Tim @TaylorRMarshall Read the entire passage. His Disciples said that his words were too difficult to understand. Christ's replied that the understanding did not come via the Flesh (materialism, Reason), but through the Spirit (God's Grace given via the Holy Spirit). Jesus said He was both.

This is why Jesus taught: Amen, amen, I say unto you: except you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you. @WadeMiller What if 100k pregnant Russian women appeared on our shore, and gave birth to 100k babies, and those babies returned to Russia and returned 18 years later in order to vote? All the children were raised by right wing, violent Russian nationalists. Should they be allowed to vote?
