I’ve written this before but we’re already in the early stages of a massive Anglo university bust(US/UK/Canada/Australia).
It’ll intensify in the 2030s but thousands of colleges are going to go out of business.
Terrible student demographics, far less Chinese students wanting to study abroad, not enough wealthy students from the rest of the world to replace said Chinese, and AI just completely destroying most entry level knowledge work and eventually up the ladder as well.
Only truly elite universities and public universities will survive IMO. Mid tier schools like syracuse, a lot of the small private liberal arts schools, and anything that’s private and low tier are absolutely finished.
Universities will go back towards being an elite privilege.
The golden age of the university was fun while it lasted.

The sad reality for YIMBYs is that even if they bulldozed every single family home in SF and replaced them with mega towers of apartments- they’re never fixing the affordability problem of SF. It’s a peninsula bro. Only so much room to grow, and you’ll never build enough homes there to meet demand. Every new unit built in SF will just sell for a ridiculous amount, perpetuating the problem.

During the pandemic, NIMBYs online said that San Francisco didn’t need more homes as the city was “losing population”. In 2026, 1200 square foot homes are getting a million dollars over asking. Great planning, everyone!

Sexism aside, I will say: a lot of urban moderns ARE very interested in hearing the other half of the human debate - almost absent from Yale or Berkeley or even my heart-land Illinois.
At a fairly solid state U of my own, I've quoted Sowell, Hayek, Friedman, PJ O'Rourke, Booker T, Aristotle, Machiavelli, Subotai, Sun Tzu, Nietzche, Lowry and McWhorter, Paglia, Hoff-Sommers, MacDonald, etc to kids and gotten "Who is that? One of the naughty ones?"
