A brief analysis on the annual budgets of municipal governing bodies of Indian cities (In crores ₹): Bengaluru (KA): 11157 Pune (MH): 9515 Ahmedabad (GJ): 9482 Delhi (NCR): 8241 Surat (GJ): 7848 Indore (MP): 7473 Pimpri Chinchwad (MH): 7128 Noida (NCR): 6503 Hyderabad (TL): 6224 Vadodara (GJ): 4830 Kolkata (WB): 4686 Visakhapatnam (AP): 4303 Nagpur (MH): 3336 Bhopal (MP): 3306 Aurangabad (MH): 3081 Ranchi (JH): 2801 Rajkot (GJ): 2586 Nashik (MH): 2475 Patna (BH): 2432 Chandigarh (PJ): 2176 Gwalior (MP): 2107 Lucknow (UP): 2056 Gurgaon (NCR): 2031 Kanpur (UP): 1908 Raipur (CT): 1608 Trivandrum (KL): 1504 Vijayawada (AP): 1419 Jabalpur (MP): 1400 Guntur (AP): 1337 Kolhapur (MH): 1153 Hubballi-Dharwad (KA): 1138 Kollam (KL): 1098 Jaipur (Heritage) (RJ): 1082 Jamnagar (GJ): 1080 Kochi (KL): 1075 Solapur (MH): 1075 Ludhiana (PJ): 1062 Mysuru (KA): 1049 Bilaspur (CT): 1024 Jaipur (Greater) (RJ): 1006 Comparing with them, the municipal corporations in #TamilNadu in general, are very poorly funded despite the size (both geography & economy). Municipal bodies in TN have very little power. Also people in TN are comparatively taxed lesser. Here's the annual budget of municipal corporations in Tamil Nadu (In crores ₹): Greater Chennai: 4466 Coimbatore: 3029 Madurai: 1751 Tiruppur: 1438 Tiruchirapalli: 1026 Vellore: 949 Salem: 788 Tambaram: 702 Erode: 622 Avadi: 455 Hosur: 387 Karur: 314 Tirunelveli: 312 Thanjavur: 280 Nagercoil: 255 Thoothukudi: 201 Dindigul: 79 While analysing the Indian urban bodies, also found an interesting thing. Municipal bodies in Maharashtra are unmatched in India in every sense. There are 15 municipal bodies in MH with above 1000 crore annual budget. Even more interesting thing is, there are 9 municipal corporations & a larger regional metropolitan development authority (along the lines of CMDA) in Mumbai metropolitan region alone! Here's the annual budget of urban bodies in Mumbai (In crores ₹): Greater Mumbai: 52619 Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA): 28704 Navi Mumbai: 4925 Thane: 4370 Vasai Virar: 2780 Panvel: 2316 Kalyan - Dombivli: 2206 Mira Bhayandar: 2174 Bhiwandi: 897 Ulhasnagar: 843 Together, the urban bodies in Mumbai alone spend roughly a lakh crore rupees annually. The sheer economic might of #Mumbai is unmatched in every sense. TN need to empower its urban bodies & make them self sufficient in order to provide better civic amenties to our citizens. - Team #TamilNaduInfra.

Huge congratulations to Bodhana Sivanandan on becoming England’s top female chess player at just 11 years old. We once played each other in the Downing Street garden. Let’s just say her success has not come as a shock!

Exactly, southern languages (Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam) are over 80% Sanskrit, the remaining is its derivative Prakrit. There is nothing much of a language left once you takeoff Sanskrit out of Kannada/Telugu/Malayalam. Malayalam is actually 90 Sanskrit- it was called necklace of gems arranged (Manipravalam) with Sanskrit. Anybody that believes these artificial colonialist theories is brainwashed.

A tree once introduced to fight drought is now a growing ecological crisis in Tamil Nadu. Prosopis Juliflora (Seemai Karuvelam) has spread uncontrollably, damaging water bodies and biodiversity. After 11 years, the Madras High Court is now pushing for strict execution. Will this finally solve the problem? @dsureshkumar takes a look thehindu.com/videos/shows/w…

Why do minority groups need funding from outside India?
