Personally, I am sick of people wanting everything to be cheaper, free, a human right, etc etc. When we make everything cheap, nothing has value. Not the quality, nor the labor, nor the ingenuity in its invention. It used to be that books were a luxury item. You have one as a status symbol. It is passed down. It is cherished. Like a piece of jewelry or art. Now people treat books like junk food. And the quality of books out there reflect it. There are very, very few works of literature past the nineteenth century remotely worth knowing precisely due to the fact that literariness itself is no longer valued.

My husband wrote a book that sells close to 250 copies a year, and it sells more every year. He gets less than a dollar per book. Writers don't write for money. They write because they believe in what they put on the page. Buying a book is one small way you can show appreciation for the effort it takes to create something they hope will make your life just a little bit better.

Even for someone who's seen wild soccer atmospheres… this one was on another level. Matt Damon described going to a Boca Juniors match in Argentina with his wife’s family. He asked if they could bring the kids. Her uncle got dead serious: “We can go… but no women, no children.” They passed three police barricades with temporary barbed-wire fencing and riot police everywhere. The best seats were left empty — because that was the safe throwing distance between rival fans. After the game, they were held in temporary cages for 45 minutes just so the opposing supporters could clear the neighborhood safely. Matt called it the craziest sporting event he’s ever witnessed. What’s the wildest sports atmosphere you’ve ever experienced?

If Spurs do go down, it’s inevitable that players will be leaving in the summer. But my question is, how much is Udogie in the window?

So @CardiffCityFC & @Cymru fans, is Dylan Lawlor better than the great Dan Gabbidon? Were it not for injuries he’d hv been an elite CH. Remember, early on W Ham fans were even making comparisons with Bobby Moore, ultimate accolade! I pose the question cos I don’t know the answer!

Stop saying it was promised to us 3000 years ago. It was promised to us 3,768 years ago. Joshua and the children of Israel entered the land 3,298 years ago. The Jewish people are indigenous to the land.
