@SarAllyce People need to learn how to read. Your posts made perfect sense. Not even sure how it would be possible to misread the intent.

When I was in my “intermediate” lifter era (2015-2020) my pendulum swung a little too far against the dogma & I will now eat crow on the following beliefs I held during that time: 1. The anabolic window isn’t real/meal timing doesn’t matter 2. OMAD “works” 3. Cardio after lifting is fine 4. Running 4+ miles every day is fine 5. You don’t need rest days 6. No such thing as overtraining 7. No such thing as “crashing” ur metabolism 8. Don’t need to track protein 9. 5 hrs of sleep is fine 10. Carbs don’t matter that much I looked “fit” (pic from 2017) so I thought everything was working.. and it arguably did “work” but I wasn’t making much (aesthetic) progress between 2018-2020. Fast forward to now & I see the difference between it “works” & being dialed in to the above

@wolfstrength Correct answer is 1, however because of human conditions, a successful trainer will do 2 because if people don’t see visible results quickly they lose motivation and want to give up. Newbie gains will build muscle and strength, so rely on those and lose the extra fat.

A skinny-fat novice wants to get fit. He’s 30, 5’10/185 with about 30% bodyfat, no immediate health red flags. What do you do first? 1. Build strength base while moderately recomping 2. Cut him to 10-12% bf then slowly build 3. Bulk/Build, You Only Novice Once 4. Blast gear

Show this video of Steve Hall doing Cable Curls to every adult male on planet earth and 99% of them will say: “He’s NOT natty, bro…that’s all steroids!!!” Most people simply cannot fathom what can be achieved when you commit to something and give it your all for 10+ years Sad

@Hybridathlete It absolutely makes things easier. But the counterpoint is how much harder things were before starting. I finally started this fall and suddenly understood that life felt like running with a boat anchor dragging behind for many years.

Guys, you are not “normie” if you’re taking testosterone, regardless of age. This is an awesome transformation and no doubt took a lot of hard work. But I don’t understand why so many TRT/PED users insist on downplaying how much easier it makes things. And I’m not against TRT/PEDs for those that want to use them, but it just seems like once people get on them, they just completely forget how much harder it was to build muscle, stay lean, and recover without them. It’s like some psychological shift or some ego protection mechanism that doesn’t allow them to acknowledge how helpful PEDs can be.

One subtle cultural difference between Americans and Canadians is that Canadians actually have no word for the number 3. It’s not always obvious in casual conversation with them but you do notice it

D is the right answer: Not only does it include Butter chicken, Pad Thai, Dim Sum, Pho, Ramen noodles, and Korean BBQ, it also includes Kebab, Baclava, Shawarma and Falafel… AND… if you zoom in, a little bit of Sicilian pasta, pizza, Greek salad and Moussaka. Seal the deal with a nice New Zealand rack of lamb, a glass of Shiraz and Pavlova for dessert.

@sam_gzstrength My ulcerative colitis has been bothering me this week. Massive explosive diarrhea immediately before my top squat set today. Little bit anxious. Came out and buried 405x3, a weight I haven't touched in 2 years. Just fucking do it.

Your attitude about a particular squat or deadlift set can easily make or break it The virgin "I'm tired, I feel something in my back, I'm not sure I'm gunna get it" = fail and give up after 1 rep Vs The chad "I may not feel 100% but I'm going to focus attack this set anyway" = grinds the 5 reps

I love the 225 bench discourse around here Although I'm not sure what we are arguing about I much prefer the "500 deadlift ain't heavy" discourse

The most upper Canadian bullshit is that anytime you’re flying east from Toronto or Montreal they have all the east cost gates in the creepy basement, there’s nothing down there but a vending machine and one million maritimers (and about 13 from da rock) talking to each other.

@AdamBarretFSU @sam_gzstrength It's wild. Squat 400x3 last week, rack pulling 470x5, got a double with 215 - which is already better than my previous 215x1 PR.

Happy birthday to Otto von Bismarck, who helped unify Germany and served as its first chancellor from 1871 to 1890. This was similar to when Chris Jericho defeated both Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock in the same night to unify the WCW World Heavyweight Championship and the WWF Championship at Vengeance 2001; he would then serve as the first Undisputed WWF Champion.

Deep Squats, Shallow Thoughts
New Article! When I find myself in a training disagreement with a bro science coach on one side or an evidence based adherent on the other, we each make our arguments but it always feels like we’re talking past each other, like something fundamental is missing. I believe this framework is what’s missing. Link Below⬇️

@Hybridathlete You lose roughly 700-800ml of water during the night. Replenishing that first thing in the morning does make sense. Most people probably wouldn't want to have that much coffee early in the morning, I'd presume.
