@goaloflife These things reflect how poor our government's negotiation and soft power is. They can easily make it mandatory for all companies to give holidays as per the national calender. But they won't or can't or both.

My sister works at Genpact (Noida office). There was no holiday for Holi, because "Our client is an American firm, and there is no Holi holiday in US." Illogical, because that is not how it works. American firms easily understand other countries' cultural holidays, and respect their decisions if they want to grant leave to their employees. "American client" was just an excuse, it was actually Indian management in Noida which was unwilling to give a holiday for Holi. The whole world stops working during Christmas and New Year because countries in the West have holidays. So how was Genpact's argument valid anyway? Why I brought up this example? Because today is Good Friday, and there is no holiday at Rutgers here. But - my sister has holiday, Genpact announced a leave. There was no holiday for Ramanavami. None for Hanuman Jayanti. Even Indian Railways, my father's employer, has given holiday to most Group-D staff, in *Agra*. They are in Agra, not Kerala, Goa or Northeast. I wonder how many railway employees in Agra are Christian. Again - there was no holiday for Navami, when actually kanya poojan takes place, kanjak/laanguriya are served and people need to be at home. Strange, but this is India, should not be surprised.

@UshaIntl I wrote a mail. Someone called and tried to intimidate me. Then service centre guy tried to blame me for the broken coupling. Then he agreed to replace it the next day. It's been 4 days now. I'm going to consumer forum. Worst company ever.

@UshaIntl extremely unsafe service. Technician caused electrical short, took motor for 1 month, then fraudulently closed complaint using happy code. Product returned damaged. Need full replacement urgently. #ConsumerRights

Around 12000 Indians apparently lost job in the recent Oracle layoff. If the average tenure is 10 years of experience and if each one has paid an annual income tax of 2 lakhs over the 10 years tenure, these guys have paid 2400 crore rupees in Income Tax alone. Add the VAT, Stamp Duties, Road Tax, GST, Excise Tax and other indirect taxes they would have paid. Assume it to be a ballpark 2000 crores more. 12000 employees of Oracle alone would have paid around 4400 crores in various taxes to both Union Government and state governments over the last 10 years. They have now lost jobs and what is the social security they have today? Is the Government going to help them? Did PM speak about this unfortunate incident? Did FM speak about it? Did Finance Ministry speak about this? Did Labour minister speak about it? Did any state CMs speak about it? Did any state minister speak about it? This is just an example. Many other companies have fired people over years. Tax payment in India is a one way street. You load the government coffers with truckloads of money, and you dont get a dime when you are in distress.

What I really liked in this Ramayana teaser is one small moment. Shri Rama looks back towards Ayodhya… and a voice calls, “Rama.” If I am not wrong, it feels like the last call of King Dasharath. That one scene says a lot. It shows the intent of the creators. And in my view, they are on the right path. #Ramayana

There will be voices trying to pull the film down, questioning Ranbir’s portrayal, comparing him to past actors who have played Ram, and measuring it against other films. Some will focus on A.R. Rahman’s involvement as music director, critiquing the choices, the execution, and even the intent behind the project. But let’s not lose sight of the bigger picture. This is a rare opportunity to bring our heritage to a global audience, to present the depth of our civilization, our stories, and our values on a grand stage. It’s a chance to reconnect newer generations with the legacy of Lord Ram, not through comparison or criticism, but through renewed storytelling and pride. #ramayana

@meutiafaradilla Parentified kids are not okay. Can't imagine what she's going through. What the hell is the father doing? Don't say he's devastated, no one is more devastated than a kid who just lost her mother.

@parijit Yes Ravaan was the villain. He was a great scholar, but still a villain. You can be world's greatest scholar, have all the Nobel prizes together and still be a villain if you do what he did.

Was Ravan really a villain? Do you know how Vishwamitra quietly connect the Ramayan and the Mahabharat? India’s ancient texts are far deeper than the stories we were told. Explore this and a lot more on Bharat Unscripted. Listen now on Apple Podcasts & Spotify

There is a consistent hit job on twitter against #Ramayana. A person is putting in his entire life savings for such a massive scale project to bring an Indian epic to the world and all we can do is criticise. If this is our attitude, no one will attempt to bring our history to the world in future.
