@Nap51M I do find it funny how there is a danger of running m855 in a 223 remington chamber, but it has nothing to do with m855 being a hotter round.

@TheWesternBlue1 @gatnerd @2805662 NIJ standards for BFD are insanely conservative. The Army quietly voices disagreement with it all the time. The few recorded deaths caused by BFD are in the 3x to 4x range of NIJ requirements

@gatnerd @2805662 Terrible blackface deformation, is by all NIJ standards defeating the armor. And the 6.8 GP load isn't the correct bullet either

@DoomerTapes Biggest downside is reduced range (each sub projectile is like 15-20gr and cylindrical) and reduced terminal effect (basically like a .22lr wadcutter). But it would definitely help close range hit probability; might be neat using it ever 3-4rd with the rest regular ball?

@gatnerd Yeah there is a lot to critique abojt the NGSW program. But Sig was the clear winner of it unfortunately.

@vbgamer17 Not offering a belt fed was a huge mistake. But really NGSW itself was poorly run. Ammo should have been developed first, then a LMG, then a rifle, rather then the winner take all that was done.

@No1_ImPoRtAn7 @gatnerd The M250 fills the one man gun extremely well. Its not a 1 for 1 replacement for a M249. But it is for a MK48. It fills a completely different role than a M240

@vbgamer17 @gatnerd The Sig M250 is a pretty dumb replacement option for the M249 and was unnecessary, if they wanted the function of 6.8x51 they could have done the barrel swap on the M240, if they really wanted a better 5.56 belt fed they'd have bought the KAC LAMG like SOCOM did.

People are arguing all over our TL about this fucking nonsense so we’ll set it straight. Every weapon is a weapon of war with the proper attitude. Every American citizen should be able to own any weapon of war. It doesn’t matter what the fuck you know about a weapon, what you call it, or how much of its history you know…. …if you’re not better than proficient with using it in any hostile situation. Oh…. If you haven’t been in a firefight or are a fat fucking horse apple. Don’t lecture people who have been in one and aren’t fat pieces of shit, about your weapon prowess. Thank you. Carry on.

@marten_damien @gsd7373 @MeromeroCa97371 @LincolnBanks6 @smcroasters explain how a mp15, a bushmaster are different from the colt ar15 that isn't a metallurgical or heat treatment choice? pretty sure I can swap receivers and barrels between them too.

@WatsonLadd @OpsecCurze That would have been a good idea, but the point of the Battle of Yonkers was that the military was treating them like a conventional army instead of adapting to this new enemy. If they'd taken them seriously from the start, they'd have used napalm.

@ravemastaj @OpsecCurze And he doesn't understand that arty rarely kills people cause of blast pressure. But the fragmentation of the shell. Which since zombies don't wear helmets. Makes them very easy to kill in large numbers with arty

@OpsecCurze I thought his contention with that was that blast effects don't really do anything to zombies due to their physiology. You would basically create a bunch of crawlers without destroying the brain (in his own lore). Then again, he advocates for jars of gunpowder, so who knows?

@Dmonstersjeesh @OpsecCurze Except you realize the arty primarily kills people by fragmentation. Not overpressure. Air bursting arty rounds which has been the norm since WW2 would be super efficient against zombies

@OpsecCurze No, he said that they did massive damage to their bodies, even going into gory details about it, but since not enough of it was targeted at their brains, the effective blast radius was far smaller than it was for humans, making it very inefficient.

@OpsecCurze IIRC at Yonkers he had a bit where the soldiers discuss that most of artillery damage is from blast pressure to liquefy internal organs but zombies are immune to this because reasons

@smcroasters @Chud_Benis These idiots and their loose language are going to fuck the second amendment completely over. I’ve used a 1911, SR-25, Remington 700, M9, a Glock, and a p226 in war. Are they wanting those band too because those are literally weapons of war.

@GggPote @robin_sage19 Well they didn't have apaches available. And not briefing the 10th mountain was normal at the time. A lot of stuff that is taken for granted today was unknown at that time

@vbgamer17 @robin_sage19 But the Rangers didn't even brief their own allies, the 10th Mountain Division, on the operation, and they hadn't even considered using Apaches from the very beginning...

@CompletelyNobo1 It does when someone is trying to bring up a fictional battle that required ignoring how things like arty, tanks/IFVs, firearms and radio works. To shit on program thats designed to keep our infantry ahead of our peers. Cause they think reliance on technology is bad or something.
