Our latest @Nature paper is out! We show that transplanting mitochondria into endothelial cells boosts their ability to form blood vessels in ischemic tissues, with mitophagy as the key mechanism. A potential game-changer for vascular cell therapies. nature.com/articles/s4158…

More evidence that the liver & pancreas are in active communication in the setting of #PancreaticCancer. There is published data already on how the primary pancreatic cancer alters the pre-metastatic niche in the liver (see next tweet). But how does the liver clap back? Nice study by Meredith Stone (now faculty with @LabBeatty) in @NatImmunol on the immune suppressive effects of hepatocyte alterations on the primary cancer tumor microenvironment (TME). nature.com/articles/s4159…

It has been a long journey but our perspective "Linking cell mechanical memory and cancer metastasis" is finally out! Many thanks to my co-authors, my mentor @RogerDKamm1, and the incredible team of @NatureRevCancer for contributing to bringing this article to light.

My emotional COI here is taller than the Burj Khalifa. With that disclosure: nature.com/articles/s4158… behold beautiful work by the brilliant @JRo_Hamilton @doudna_lab @igisci on what I personally think will be THE paradigm for immune system genome editing for both oncology and other disease indications.

Nice work from our recent MD/PhD student who shows how melanoma cells travel along blood vessels within the brain microenvironment. Congrats to Sarah! nature.com/articles/s4141…

New #OpenAccess @trendscancer review from @ErezNeta @LMonteran @YaelZait It’s all about the base: stromal cells are central orchestrators of metastasis cell.com/trends/cancer/… The trinity of fibroblasts, osteoblasts and astrocytes play pivotal roles in each step of the metastatic cascade in their respective organ sites. This review summarizes them wonderfully - pay special attention to the tables that highlights the evidence for each of the steps of the metastatic process (including therapy resistance) across different tumors subdivided by the three host cell types.
