You appointed two of Canada's most pernicious antisemites to your new committee -- Omar Alghabra, who calls for the legalization of Hamas and Hezbollah, and Avnish Nanda, the lawyer for the antisemitic hate encampment at the University of Alberta. Why did you do that?
Evan Solomon@EvanLSolomon

Yesterday, I joined Prime Minister Mark Carney, colleagues, and members of the Jewish community at Holy Blossom Temple for a critical call to action against the rising scourge of antisemitism in Canada. At a time when Jewish Canadians are facing unprecedented levels of antisemitism, the Prime Minister stood in solidarity and spoke candidly about the crisis, and why no one should feel unsafe because of who they are, how they pray, or the identity they carry. He outlined the new and important anti-hate legislation and the critical new security measures, but just as importantly, he spoke about how all Canadians must stand together to fight antisemitism.

Prime Minister of Israel
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: With deep sorrow, we were informed about Captain Dr. Ori Yosef Silvester, of blessed memory, a medical officer in the Shaked Battalion of the Givati Brigade, who fell in battle in southern Lebanon. Ori, of blessed memory, went to the front lines out of a profound sense of mission to defend the State of Israel, to save lives, and to treat his brothers in arms. Together with all citizens of Israel, my wife and I send our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones, and pray for the speedy recovery of our fighters who were wounded in this painful incident. May his memory be a blessing.”

Announcing Omar Alghabra on a committee to fight antisemitism at a synagogue is an absolute gaslight to Jewish Canadians. It’s almost as if Mark Carney is trolling Jews & kicking them while they are down.

Now that Carney included Omar Alghabra in the Council for combating antisemitism, it is time for a quick resume: Omar Alghabra was born in Saudi Arabia to a Syrian family, immigrated to Canada in the 1980s, but brought his virulent antisemitism with him as luggage. Upon his arrival, he worked for CAF (Canadian Arab Federation) – a group so antisemitic that their federal funding was taken away by the court. For nearly 20 years Alghabra has been almost consistently elected to the Canadian Parliament. He held various positions, such as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade Diversification. At the same time, he often stated that Hamas and Hezbollah are not terrorist organizations and should be removed from the Canadian terrorist entities list. He tried to censor Canadian journalists, who call Hamas a terrorist organization. Alghabra publicly mourned Yasser Arafat.  In his Arabic interview he expressed disappointment that Canadian Muslims are insufficiently vocal in demanding Sharia law in Canada. Alghabra called the Toronto officials to boycott Jewish charity events and opposed the collaboration between the Canadian police force and Israeli anti-terrorist units (obviously, if you don’t consider Hamas and Hezbollah – terrorists, no anti-terrorist work is required either). Even following the October 7 massacre, even when directly questioned, Alghabra refused to condemn Hamas, but he uses every opportunity to label Israel “brutal and cruel.” I wonder who the rest of the Council members are.

Benjamin Netanyahu -

Pretty much all of the prominent voices who supported the Iran War assured us it would be over by now. None of them will admit they were wrong. Even less will they admit that their initial assurances were based on nothing but their own wishcasting. This whole shitshow has been an enormous waste of time and resources and our country has not benefited from it at all. Its advocates have moved the goal posts repeatedly and have even to this day refused to clearly articulate what constitutes a victory and how we’ll know that it’s been achieved.

I think the pigheaded ignorance of the BDS movement is really illuminated best by what they did to SodaStream. An Israeli company, SodaStream was one of BDS's earliest boycotts, leading to the closure of its West Bank facility in 2015. At the time, the company was the largest private employers of Palestinians in the area, and 600 Palestinians were immediately laid off. Their Palestinian employees received the same benefits, wages, and conditions of Israelis, and all of that was lost due to BDS, who hilariously (and wrongly) claimed that SodaStream was "exploiting" Palestinians. SodaStream then moved into Israel proper and to a new plant in Lehavim, which is close to Rahat, a large Bedouin town in the Negev. The facility, like the West Bank one, employs the locals: hundreds of Bedouins, particularly Bedouin women, who otherwise lack economic opportunities. Did this satisfy BDS? Nope. They continue to boycott SodaStream entirely, claiming the factory is part of the Israeli government's plans to ethnically cleanse the Bedouins, which are Israeli citizens of Arab descent. BDS, of course, did not ask the Bedouins, who receive the same wages as Jews, guaranteed by equal rights laws that BDS pretends do not exist in Israel. Those wages are significantly higher than the average income in nearby Arab towns, and SodaStream provides benefits that are rare outside of the urban areas of Israel, like a healthcare plan, pension contributions, and daily transportation. Job satisfaction is very high. In short, these boycotts just make rich white WASP Westerners feel good. They do nothing for Palestinians or Israeli minorities.

"The stated mission of the boycott is to end apartheid, and I keep saying, what apartheid? My products are made by Israeli-Arabs, not Jewish Israelis." Seed + Mill, which makes sesame-based foods, is one of the brands that might be impacted by the new boycott of Israeli goods by the Park Slope Food Coop. The Coop voted this week to boycott all Israeli goods in a contentious vote. Another example of how these boycotts often end up harming the exact people they were meant to help.

Only 24% of Jewish voters hold a favorable view of Donald Trump. A majority of Jewish voters believe Trump is antisemitic. The newest poll of Jewish voters is clear: We reject Donald Trump’s extremism, and we can and will make the difference for Democrats in the midterms. haaretz.com/us-news/2026-0…

In my call with Prime Minister @MarkJCarney of Canada, I expressed my deep alarm over the rise in antisemitic violence in Canada. I called on Prime Minister Carney and his government to address the fear and sense of abandonment felt by our sisters and brothers in the Canadian Jewish community before it’s too late. In our discussion, we agreed that Israel has the right to self-defense. I reiterated that we are acting to protect our people against the threat of terror from Iran and its terror proxies in the region, including Hezbollah in Lebanon. I also underlined the importance of implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2803 in Gaza, including the vital condition that Hamas is disarmed and a new government is established in Gaza.
