@ianhowells Glad someone else said it. I'll never look at Search Analytics data the same way after the &num 100 parameter incident.

@NickLeRoy Agreed. Does seem odd they don't just link out to the recipe sites. As a user I want to jump to the recipe and get started. Not read summaries of recipes, on top of summaries of recipes.

After an incredible nearly three years at SEOTesting, I'm now looking for a new opportunity in SEO leadership. SEO is where I do my best work, particularly at the intersection of strategy, testing, and commercial impact. Over the past few years, I've focused on: - SEO testing & structured experimentation - Turning organic search into measurable revenue - Building content strategies tied to business outcomes - Speaking, workshops, and helping to shape how SEO is positioned I'm open to both agency and in-house roles. Agencies naturally appeal to me because I thrive in collaborative, multi-brand environments and senior strategy conversations. But I'm equally excited by in-house roles where SEO is embedded deeply into product and growth strategy. If you're hiring for a Head of SEO, Organic Growth Lead, Senior SEO Strategist, or a marketing role with a strong SEO focus, I'd love to chat! And finally, a genuine thank you to Nick Swan, Vicky Webster-Garvey, Faith Summon, and everyone I've worked with at SEOTesting. It's been a place of huge growth for me, as a marketer and a person. I'm incredibly proud of the work we've done, and I'm excited to watch them continue to grow. Onwards. But first, coffee! ☕

Can we call on the major SEO tools - @semrush @SERanking @Moz @MajesticSEO @ahrefs - isn't it time we just put these stupid myths like page title length, meta-description lengths to bed? These "SEO Audits" are FUD and time wasting - they distract from actual SEO? And Text-to-HTML ratios? And no - it doesnt make pages faster and no, pagespeed doesnt matter Or are we going to treat SEOs as superstitious children forever? Can we even walk these back - are we mature enough?

New blog post: I was super excited to write a case study focused on technical SEO w/out having to mention AI Search... But then AI Search made its way into my post :) -> Rel Canonical Is Just A Hint – A Reminder That Google Can Make Its Own Decision (And That Decision Can Cascade To ChatGPT And Other AI Platforms) On large-scale and complex sites, you definitely want to know when Google starts ignoring rel canonical and begins indexing the wrong urls. That issue can grow quickly and cause a number of problems SEO-wise. But now with AI Search, we have another problem. As ChatGPT, Perplexity, and others leverage/scrape Google's results, those canonical decisions by Google can cascade to AI Search. And that's exactly what I saw during my research. You can read the cases below, including the impact to AI Search. gsqi.com/marketing-blog…

"What tool should I use for [specific SEO task]?" I see this question in every SEO community, every week. So I put together a free, open source GitHub repo with 178 vetted SEO tools across 21 categories. Not a blog post. Not a listicle. An actual maintained open source resource the community can contribute to. Here's a taste of what's inside: → All in one SEO suites → Keyword clustering and topical authority → AI visibility and GEO/AI SEO (However you want to call it) → Content optimisation → Technical SEO and site auditing → Internal linking → Google Search Console enhancement tools → SERP analysis, rank tracking, backlinks → Schema markup, page speed, log analysis → And 12 more categories Every tool on the list has a real user base, active development, and clear pricing (Some enterprise tools may lack pricing). No vibe coded apps. No landing pages pretending to be products. The repo is fully open source under CC0. If you've built an SEO tool (or know one that deserves to be on this list), open a PR and add it. That's literally what this is for. Link: github.com/Suganthan-Moha…

Your move, Google! This is a screenshot of Bing Webmaster Tools' new AI performance report. It also reports citations by grounding queries and by citations. Obvs early days, but I love this as a start.

@facan @aleyda @bing Makes sense. Do you need me to give feedback via a form? I know Googlers need feedback via the right channels.

🚨 Microsoft is Introducing AI Performance in @bing Webmaster Tools: A new set of insights that shows how sites content appears across Microsoft Copilot, AI-generated summaries in Bing, and select partner integrations 👇 This is the first official AI search visibility dashboard directly provided by platforms 👏 This is what you can see in it: * Total Citations Shows the total number of citations that are displayed as sources in AI-generated answers. * Average Cited Pages Shows the average number of unique pages from your site that are displayed as sources in AI-generated answers per day over the selected time range. * Grounding queries Shows the key phrases the AI used when retrieving content that was referenced in AI-generated answers. * Page-level citation activity Shows citation counts for specific URLs from your site, making it easy to see which individual pages are most often referenced across AI-generated answers. * What's not included? No intent or sentiment analysis, or an extract of the answers to check. Also, no data from other brands/sites, only yours. There's room to improve/expand of course, but I'm thankful for this first step. Go to Bing Webmaster tools and check it out 😎🙌 --- I want to thank @facan and team for the fantastic effort in the right direction to give official AI Search data to sites 🙏 Hopefully more platforms like Google and ChatGPT/OpenAI take note! Bing is now giving you grounding queries in Bing Webmaster tools!! Just confirmed, now I gotta understand what we're getting from them, what it means and how to use it. blogs.bing.com/webmaster/Febr… Great work @facan and team. I remember when @rustybrick showed that this might be coming 2.5 or so years ago! Thank you!
