@BKJester @NoCongestionTax Your nurse, EMS operator, sanitation workers, police, etc. need their car to make it to work in time after they drop their children off to child care. When they can’t afford to live in the city no one can.

i feel like i’m going insane. i don’t watch every single game every single night but i watch quite a bit of basketball and the games are usually pretty good. there is good basketball on almost every night.
Nate Duncan@NateDuncanNBA

@MZavagno11 At this point having 70% of games in March and April be terrible is a larger problem. It will make it harder for the absolute worst teams to improve. Sadly, there's no legitimate way to measure the "worst teams" under the current system.

The thing that haunts me the most is my friend who religiously avoided sunlight, vitamin D supplements and 25D fortufied foods for 20 years and has aged better (like not at all) than anyone I know with insane cognitive horsepower.

@PenguinHoops Braindead analysis. More than half the games suck this time of year thanks to tanking.

If you are a fan of basketball rather than a fan of gambling, tanking really shouldn’t be too high on the list of problems you have with the NBA

Revenue sharing being based on seeding makes a lot of sense. As noted Premier League already has it, as does F1. Better punishments for tanking is also interesting but it would depend heavily on the enforcement mechanism.
Jake Fischer@JakeLFischer

The NBPA is proposing a three-prong approach to the league's ongoing tanking/draft lottery reform discussion, @TheSteinLine has learned, which would first financially reward wins and penalize losses, second flatten lottery odds, and third strictly enforce meaningful penalties.

@Duderichy Is this not what we in the US already do? Like, yeah, it’s bad because ChiComs, but it’s not unlike our policies towards travelers/visitors bipartisanly.

@ChudCapitalLP @atlanticesque Of course. And we should consider the negatives of cars along with the positives when we decide which tradeoffs to make.

For every one (1) cyclist that crosses the East River each day, about 20 cars do, and more than 70 people riding in subways do. Bridges are not ordinary cityscape, they should be optimized for trains, buses, trucks, and cars, not pedestrians or cyclists.
Jess Coleman@jesskcoleman

The entrance to the Brooklyn Bridge should be one of the most majestic places in NYC. Instead, it’s a chaotic mess designed to move cars. This plan is a good first step. But let’s finish the job and reimagine this space for the 10 million pedestrians and cyclists who actually use it every year.

@BKJester @NateDuncanNBA It doesn’t matter at all. No one was going to turn on the Jazz if we were trying this year. We’d be at best 11th in the west if we tried all year

The reaction I've seen to NBA's tanking proposals hasn't been positive. Personally I think the proposal with the flattened lottery odds would be a substantial improvement from the current system.

@utjazzfocus @NateDuncanNBA A large majority of the games right now are uncompetitive because one or both teams is tanking. That matters more than ~everything else, and a hell of a lot more than SLC or DC fans being less engaged.

Jazz Focus
Jazz Focus@utjazzfocus·
@BKJester @NateDuncanNBA It quite literally doesn’t. No one outside of Utah or DC was tuning into league pass to watch the Jazz or wizards while they’re not in playoff contention anyways. Tanking almost literally doesn’t affect the league except for gambling purposes

@utjazzfocus @NateDuncanNBA Strong doubt. Small markets being less engaged matters way way way less than what tanking does to the actual product on the floor.

@BKJester @NateDuncanNBA When kings wolves jazz grizz fans give up, that’ll be far worse for the nba. Jazz still basically selling out arenas in our 3rd year of tanking. Imagine if that gets to 10 years of tanking with no way to get better
