Urban Legend or “True Crime”? You don’t hear stories like this anywhere else. Last night, Pete broke down the story of the “Doublemint Twins”…two gang members/twins who moved as one, until “Pistol Pete” Rollock ordered the hit. Then it got even deeper… including the street legend of Rollock’s “wet T-shirts.” Real stories. Real history. The kind of details you only get from guys who were there. If you missed it, go back and watch. 🚨 TALKING SOMEONE BACK FROM THE EDGE 🚨 During our conversation with Retired NYPD Lieutenant Jack Cambria, longtime commander of the NYPD Hostage Negotiation Team, he shared a powerful story about a suicidal military veteran standing on a ledge. Jack talked him down. Offered him a hug. The veteran stepped inside and Jack embraced him. Jack then asked Pete and me what the first thing you do next is. We said, give him a hug. Jack smiled and said, “No…the second thing is the hug. The first thing you do is close the window so he can’t turn around and jump back out.” It’s a moment that’s both sobering and human. A perfect example of the calm judgment, compassion, and experience required to literally talk someone off the ledge and save a life. That’s what “Gentleman Jack” and hostage negotiators across the country do every day. What cops do! The work we do at the Officer Down Memorial Page (ODMP) is incredibly important. Every day we honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and ensure that each succeeding generation knows who they were and the sacrifice they made. A large part of my work over the years has been historical research. It began with updating memorials for officers who were already known to have died in the line of duty. Before long, however, I began discovering officers whose sacrifices had been forgotten, officers unknown to their own departments and whose names did not appear on the ODMP or other state and national memorials. Below is the story of how I discovered three Lynbrook, New York, officers nearly 25 years ago. Since then, I have uncovered hundreds of previously unrecorded line-of-duty deaths. Their stories have now been added to the ODMP and to local, state, and national memorials so that their sacrifices will never be forgotten. Among those are nearly 100 NYPD officers, including two from the @NYPD67Pct, where I began my policing career. I am extremely proud of the ODMP staff. They have done extraordinary work, growing the organization from a two-person operation when it was founded in 1996 into the largest and most recognized police memorial in the country.
ODMP.org@ODMP

We’re honored to highlight ODMP Board Member Lieutenant @steveODMP (Ret., NYPD). A volunteer since 2001 and Board member since 2004, Steve has helped lead efforts to identify and document hundreds of previously forgotten line-of-duty deaths, ensuring every fallen officer is properly honored and remembered. After 21 years with the NYPD, his commitment to this mission continues. 🎥 Watch his message. youtu.be/jtjVZUpN8bc

🚨 ICYMI: WHEN WORDS SAVE LIVES: THE LEGACY OF “GENTLEMAN JACK” CAMBRIA 🚨 Retired NYPD Lieutenant Jack Cambria, legendary commander of the NYPD Hostage Negotiation Team, joined us at the Ten-Four Tavern to reflect on a remarkable 34-year career that began on patrol in Brooklyn and led to the elite Emergency Service Unit and the leadership of the NYPD’s hostage negotiators. Jack shares powerful insights on the psychology of negotiation, explaining how compassion, trust, and communication can save lives in seconds. From the lessons learned after the 1973 Broadway Sporting Goods siege, to intense standoffs like the Staten Island barricade, to the global influence of negotiation training, the conversation reveals how crisis leadership works when everything is on the line. We also talk about his post-retirement consulting work in television and film, including The Taking of Pelham 123, his memories from the World Trade Center site after 9/11, and even wrap up with a lighter conversation about Italian culture and food. Stories like these preserve the legacy and lessons of those who served. Today at 5:05 PM, we will explore the recent ISIS-inspired attack on New York City. We will examine the NYPD’s preparedness and response to the incident and emphasize the need for everyone to take it as a wake-up call. We will discuss the limitations imposed on the NYPD by the Protest Settlement Agreement and Commissioner Tisch’s stance that there is no justification for altering the policing of First Amendment activities. Furthermore, we will question the absence of leadership from Mayor Mamdani. We will also address the delay in his press conference and the message he conveyed during it. While police officers risk their lives daily and are heroes for their actions every day, but it is important to acknowledge that in this incident, the NYPD Got Lucky! @110BigGuy @tenfourtavern

John D. Macari Jr. 🇺🇸🗽
The terrorist attack this weekend at a NYC protest exposed how dangerously flawed Mayor @NYCMayor Zohran Mamdani’s plan to disband the NYPD’s Strategic Response Group (SRG) truly is. Shortly after taking office, Mayor Mamdani said he was in discussions with NYPD Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch about dismantling the SRG. He made clear the motivation was not fiscal, but ideological stating he wanted to: “Decouple the counterterrorism responsibilities within the department from First Amendment exercise (protests).” This weekend proved exactly why that thinking is dangerously misguided. Two terrorists attended what was described as a “First Amendment protest” and deployed two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in an attempt to carry out a mass casualty terrorist attack. That is precisely why counterterrorism plays a critical role in policing protests and mass gatherings. These events attract not only activists, but also anarchists, extremists, and individuals looking to exploit large crowds to cause harm. Protests are Soft Targets. Yet instead of deploying the Strategic Response Group and other counterterrorism resources in force, the NYPD took the progressive approach to protest policing one that leaves the city vulnerable to bad actors. Ironically, the founding of the NYPD in 1845 was itself a response to riots and violent protests that were frequently hijacked by anarchists and agitators. After September 11th, the NYPD expanded its counterterrorism capabilities even further to ensure attacks like that could never happen again. Yet here we are in 2026, with a Mayor and potentially a Police Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence & Counterterrorism advocating for policies that would effectively bring protest policing back to 1844. The media, police unions, and the public must apply immediate pressure to ensure these events are policed competently and free from political bias. Continuing down this path leaves NYC vulnerable to future attack and places politics and optics ahead of innocent life.

On our last episode, we discussed the lack of preparedness and dissemination of intelligence within the NYPD, from the top leadership down to the boots on the ground. In this clip from episode 54, we spoke about the possibility an incident just like that which occurred near Gracie Mansion on Saturday. @tenfourtavern youtu.be/mUUTXFKRDU8

We need to know right now if these terrorists had the keys to this vehicle in their possession and if so what was the near 24 hour delay in securing the vehicle.

A day late and not addressing the core issue of yesterday’s events. @NYCMayor Mamdani finally released a statement on yesterday’s terrorist attack, but the main focus is on the “white supremacist” protester. There’s no mention of the intended carnage by an individual who shouted “Allah Akbar” and threw an IED at police and protestors. He doesn’t even use the term “Islamic extremist” or acknowledge that it’s being investigated as a terrorist attack. This device was confirmed to be an incendiary device with nuts and bolts designed to cause severe human damage. The mayor should not just post an innocuous X post. He needs to be a leader and appear on camera to instill confidence in the people of New York City that a thorough and complete investigation, involving federal partners, is underway. The tone of his post reveals his priorities and mindset. Where is @GovKathyHochul and her statements? We, the people of New York NEED to hear from someone who can answer questions. @TheJusticeDept @SDNYnews @FBI
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@NYCMayor

Yesterday, white supremacist Jake Lang organized a protest outside Gracie Mansion rooted in bigotry and racism. Such hate has no place in New York City. It is an affront to our city’s values and the unity that defines who we are. What followed was even more disturbing. Violence at a protest is never acceptable. The attempt to use an explosive device and hurt others is not only criminal, it is reprehensible and the antithesis of who we are. I want to thank the brave men and women of the NYPD who acted quickly to keep New Yorkers safe. Our officers ran toward danger without hesitation, demonstrating once again the courage and dedication it takes to protect this city every single day. My administration is closely monitoring the situation and I remain in close contact with our Police Commissioner.
