@IlliquidInsight Junior people can’t even see what’s right in front of them. Even though it may look like I’m working less, I’m working more and output is 10x at least with minimal fan fare.

Biggest myth in finance: it gets easier after analyst years VPs and MDs work just as hard. But more travel and sales, less decks and models.

This tournament is wide open. It wouldn’t shock me to see any of these 4 teams cut down the nets in Indy Michigan Arizona UConn Duke I don’t think UConn is as good as the other 3 but you can’t ignore the Huskies in the tourney. They are everything Sweet 16 Tommy thinks he is.

@negligible_cap The underlying fund assets are first lien secured loans with multi year maturity profile, do investors not know what they are investing in? This isn’t a vehicle where you should expect quarterly liquidity or even want it

Lot of people on this site commenting on private credit who clearly are not actually in the market. Makes me wonder about other topics I’ve followed where I think I’m getting quality intel but actually could just be tourist talk. Think there’s a term for this but can’t place it

If you allocated funds to a private credit fund that has underlying exposure to weak assets that are structurally impaired due to AI with technological obsolescence then yes you should be concerned. But if not, and the portfolio is strong receiving largely cash pay interest from underlying borrowers, then there’s nothing to worry about.

BREAKING: Apollo Global Management will value private credit daily in an answer to critics. Apollo has long argued that the noise in the space is overblown and the firm is confident in its disciplined underwriting.

I'm still scratching my head a bit at how the fintwit narrative is Private Credit is all going to zero but somehow Private Equity problems aren't getting mentioned at all.

@IlliquidInsight But if you’re short private credit then you must hate stocks, high-yield and PE? So are you withdrawing and putting money under mattress to be lost via inflation?

Is crazy how narrative on this has grabbed hold, really tells you not a lot to complain about in global macro if general public can be this puzzled about some very minor private credit stress. Do folks not realize that if regular way corporate private credit goes bust then everyone’s 401ks are down 50-70%?

@tyillc Technically if the debt is impaired, the equity value would be little to none (trading at some option value).

When a private credit firm writes down the value of a loan to a leverage buyout, doesn't this mean the value of the equity is zero? So when KKR writes down a private credit loan does it also write off the underlying private equity investment?
