Just found a list I made on my phone at some point in the last 2 years of ‘Cheap’ cars I want to own and experience.
Just been through and ticked off a few I’ve actually had/have since making the list.
The Citroen C5 was a cracking car, only sold it as I bought it for £1600 in bizarre circumstances, spent £35 on an MOT that it smashed, detailed it myself then sold it for £3900 a few weeks later. Such underrated cars in the right spec.
Phaeton is high on my list next 🇩🇪
🚨 HE FOUND OUT WHAT $29K GETS YOU AT A CHINESE CAR DEALERSHIP… AND IT MAKES NO SENSE
On his second day in China… he walks into an Avatr premium Chinese intelligent electric vehicle dealership.
He sits in a car and instantly is blown away.
• Massive full-width screens
• Glass panoramic roof
• Camera side mirrors
• Self-adjusting seats when you get in
• Premium red leather interior
• Looks like a Mercedes
Fully loaded.
Then they show him the price.
Only $29,000.
Brand new.
Top spec.
He’s told lower models are closer to $20K.
Meanwhile in the U.S.?
You’re paying $40K–$70K+ for cars with:
• Less tech
• Fewer features
• Cheap interiors
• Add-ons locked behind subscriptions
So why are we paying double for less in the U.S.… and who’s pocketing the difference?
A stunning Swedish woman posted an anonymous Craigslist ad: “Looking for a husband with $500k+ income” and listed her conditions.
The response she got from a self-described investor was ice-cold and brutally honest:
“My dear beautiful lady…
What you’re proposing is a pure transaction — your beauty for my money.
The problem? Your beauty will inevitably diminish over the years, while my income is likely to keep growing.
From an economic perspective, you’re a depreciating asset with a very high depreciation rate that will completely expire within 10 years.
I represent an asset whose value increases over time.
So, no — it would be a bad decision to marry you.”
This viral Craigslist exchange (from years ago) is still making the rounds because it lays bare a harsh economic reality about beauty, youth, and long-term value.
It’s a cold reminder that treating relationships like transactions often backfires when time does its work.
What do you think — was his response fair, or too harsh?
Have you ever seen beauty treated as a depreciating asset in real life?

@Ageneralcomment@gmptraffic The fact you think an untaxed vehicle is more of a priority than a vehicle with excessively tinted windows which reduces visibility, especially at night, says it all really. 🙄
The driving instructor (who was supervising a learner driver) was unaware of the rules on window tints when pulled over near Rochdale this morning. Found to be below the 70% minimum. Instructor reported and told to remove tints. Excuse: “I bought it like this”.
🚨 BENEFITS CHEAT MUM, 33, CLAIMS £23K FOR BEING HOUSEBOUND WITH ANXIETY – THEN JETTED TO CANCUN FOR CLUBBING, ZIPLINING & SURFING!
Catherine Wieland from East Sussex raked in £23,662 PIP over two years, swearing she couldn’t cook, wash or leave the house alone due to crippling anxiety, PTSD and dyslexia.
Reality? She was spotted at Thorpe Park THREE times, Chessington, Brighton Pride, quad-biking, cave-exploring, 76 beauty appointments and 60 pub/club nights – plus a luxury Mexico holiday with her son!
DWP surveillance and her own social media posts nailed her. Hove Crown Court heard she even bagged a Motability BMW.
Judge slammed: “Pure and simple fraud… aggravated by pubbing, clubbing and Cancun.”
28-week suspended sentence + full £23k repayment ordered. Classic!
@BBCNews Wow! What a crazy decision! Why on earth is somebody using their common sense in this day and age. (Real) sportswomen everywhere will be devastated.
@trade_classics@1Percenterer I don't think it's an absolute certainty but it could be financially ruinous without a sufficient war chest. I'd love a 911 one day, but probably wouldn't have the balls for a non-turbo 996 unless it had already been breathed on by Hartech!
The stats suggest <8% of cars in this era suffer IMS failure.
It's too high for a brand like Porsche, but it's not the absolute certainty many people seem to think it is, and there's almost certainly a "people who look after them vs. don't" component to this.
Hence, buying a well loved one makes all the difference!
Controversial view of the day:
Everyone wants to "buy the one with lowest miles"… forgetting the bills that come with a complex machine that hasn't been used regularly.
The owner of this 93k-mile 2001 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 (996.2), with manual gearbox, has covered 50k miles in it in the last 5 years! Good going.
You don't often see 996.2s - but they're fast becoming the intelligent choice of 911. Auction ends tomorrow: bidding is easy and safe - you can see c.300 photos and videos of this car at the link below.

@ziggystarlight@gmptraffic So should all vans (nearly all vans having no rear windows AND no rear view) be legislated off the roads too? I'm much more concerned about drivers without insurance and MOTs than I am some crappy window tints. 🙄
@BBCBreakfast Unfortunately Harry's involvement makes the entire argument significantly less credible.

Mercedes E63 AMG W211 vs Audi RS6 C6.
Two executive cars and two completely different ways to go fast.
The E63 is classic AMG.
Naturally aspirated M156 V8, rear-wheel drive, raw and demanding.
The RS6 is the opposite.
A twin-turbo V10 with Quattro, built for maximum effect and to go fast in a straight line.
Massive low end torque, huge grip and a car that feels unstoppable in any condition.
Both are brutally fast.
But they feel completely different.
The E63 is about involvement.
The RS6 is about excess.
@GBNEWS What an appallingly bad news article and website! It's almost unreadable on IOS as it keeps jumping around. The article also completely fails to mention tax rises for cars rehiresdd after 1st April 2017. GB news at its finest.
@HumzaYousaf You forgot to tell your dad where to look for the photo. 😂
Your levels of self obsession are astonishing. Pathetic narcissist.
You are an unwanted pestilence. Please fcuk off back to Pakistan and moan about there not being any white people in any senior government roles.
Value, purpose & happiness was never derived from status or high office, but enjoying the journey with those I love.
As I leave Parliament for the last time as an MSP, I can't thank my parents or Nadia enough for the love & support they have given me over the years. Thank you ♥️
We're 4 years into our mortgage.
We've paid over $95,000 in mortgage payments – but our balance has only gone down by $31,000.
The other $64,000 went to interest, taxes, and insurance.
So yeah – owning a home costs a lot more than the price of the home.
