@rationalyankee Pitching in a simulated game is not the same as a real one. And saying Freeman hadn't hit a home run on a pitch in that spot is playing semantics. Lower inside part of the strike zone is his hot zone. He doesn't get many pitches there for a reason.

@Gspan415 This is where you’re wrong. He had pitched. Not in a game, but he had pitched and the Yankees knew exactly what his stuff looked like. And his stuff looked fine during that inning. Freeland hit out a good pitch that he hadn’t hit out all year.

I will go to my grave saying that I agreed with Boone bringing in Nestor at the time and I still do now. People act like there was no logic at all to it. The Yankees had Nestor ramped up to come out of the bullpen. They knew what his stuff looked like. Nestor was going to have to face at least two batters and Boone thought Nestor was a better matchup for Betts than Hill was. And he was correct about that. Verdugo falling into the stands moved the runners up, allowed the Yankees to avoid giving Betts a platoon advantage with the winning run in scoring position. Then Freeman hit out a pitch that he hadn’t homered on all season. Nestor got Ohtani to fly out in that inning. I don’t get the argument that he wasn’t prepared to pitch in that spot when he was able to get one of the greatest players ever out in a big at bat. People who still try to crucify Boone are just upset that a really good baseball team beat the Yankees and they’re using shallow logic to blame the manager for it.

We had to watch Nestor Cortes come out of the bullpen in the 10th inning of the 2024 World Series

@alvinfoo I mean, she could have just used the ATM and not held up other people waiting to make transactions that required a live teller

This old lady handed her bank card to the teller and said "I would like to withdraw $10". The teller told her "For withdrawals less than $100, Please use the ATM." The old lady wanted to know why... The teller returned her bank card and irritably told her "These are the rules, please leave if there is no further matter. There is a line of customers behind you." The old lady remained silent for a few seconds and handed her card back to the teller and said "Please help me withdraw all the money I have." The teller was astonished when she checked the account balance. She nodded her head, leaned down and respectfully told her "You have $300,000 in your account but the bank doesn't have that much cash currently. Could you make an appointment and come back again tomorrow.?" The old lady then asked how much she could withdraw immediately. The teller told her any amount up to $3000. "Well please let me have $3000 now." The teller kindly handed $3000 very friendly and with a smile to her. The old lady put $10 in her purse and asked the teller to deposit $2990 back into her account. The moral of this story is, Don't be difficult with old people, they spent a lifetime learning the skill.!!

I have an idea for the Oscars. What if at the end of every decade there's a Movie of the Decade that's totally retrospective, and it can't have won Best Picture at the time? The movie with staying power? So for the 1990s it probably would have been something like Goodfellas,

@DTereman It's easier in the sense that you can be judged positively before you win games (as Joe Douglas was for years). But ultimately if you don't win, you're judged just as harshly (as Joe Douglas eventually was).

Last thing I’ll say about this whole Mougey/Glenn drama: 1. He’s done a better job because It’s an easier job. 2. It’s very easy for a GM to ‘win over’ fans with moves they make when no games are being played 3. GM is the least important of the 3 pillars (HC, QB, GM) Just win games and don’t make it a ‘this or that’ situation.

You’re right that most of the time it’s the more powerful person leaning on the other. But we don’t know that. She could’ve persuaded him. And she didn’t just work for him, it’s a sister-in-law lol. They know each other way before the job and if nothing ever happened they know each other way after the job. What they were doing probably has nothing to do with the job and the fact that they’re just two disgusting people

It’s shocking to me how egotistical people (mostly men) can be sometimes. There are endless examples of men ruining their careers and their families over inappropriate workplace relationships. And yet, we constantly hear about men who get a taste of power and authority who think they can do whatever they want and nobody will find out. They think they’re special. Turns out they almost never are and when they go down for whatever they did, they go down publicly.

MLBPA executive director Tony Clark resigned after an internal investigation revealed he had an inappropriate relationship with his sister-in-law, who had been hired by the union in 2023, sources tell me and @DVNJr.

Hey @RealMichaelKay you were so upset about partially quoting Aaron Judge, why'd you do the same thing to Cuban? Here's the full quote and he's right. Fans understand when tanking is optimal for the team. Loosen the grip on those pearls please.
Mark Cuban@mcuban

Why the NBA should embrace tanking - The NBA has kate been misguided thinking that fans want to see their teams compete every night with a chance to win. It’s never been that way that way. When I got into the nba, they thought they were in the basketball business. They aren’t. They are in the business of creating experiences for fans. Few can remember the score from the last game they saw or went to. They can’t remember the dunks or shots. What they remember is who they were with. Their family, friends, a date. That’s what makes the experience special. Fans know their team can’t win every game. They know only one team can win a ring. What fan that care about their team’s record want is hope. Hope they will get better and have a chance to compete for the playoffs and then maybe a ring. The one way to get closer to that is via the draft. And trades. And cap room. You have a better chance of improving via all 3 , when you tank. We didn’t tank often. Only a few times over 23 years, but when we did, our fans appreciated it. And it got us to where we could improve, trade up to get Luka and improve our team. The nba should worry more about fan experience than tanking. It should worry more about pricing fans out of games than tanking. You know who cares the least about tanking , a parent who cant afford to bring their 3 kids to a game and buy their kids a jersey of their fave player Tanking isn’t the issue. Affordability and quality of game presentation are

Idk if I’m going to get anybody to agree with here but the idea of a 34+ year old bridge quarterback should be extinct for an organization with a long term vision. What exactly do you gain from having an old guy that could potentially screw you out of a draft pick to take your guy of the future?

There are currently two types of Jets fans. Those that choose to root for Aaron Glenn & Darren Mougey to get things right & those that don’t. If you’re a fan & are choosing the second option, ask yourself why.

@GinaMuscato It's not a failure if they turn one of these players into a contributor via trade and said player amounts to very little with the new team. That window already closed with Volpe. It's closing on Dominguez. They can still do it with Jones.

Leon Rose masterclass - Turn Yabu into Terry, Terry into Alvarado. - Saves $1.3 on the books this year so we can get to buyout market faster - Alvarado has PO for $4.5M next season, gives us a rotational piece for cheap to help us stay under 2nd apron - Leaves a lot of wiggle room for a summer Giannis deal that would hard cap us at 2nd apron - Have 2 tradable 1sts in the summer + WAS 2nd(which will be like late 1st) Either win a chip this year or get Giannis in the summer #NewYorkForever

@Bklyn929 @Jimmy121M 1. His resume as an OC is pretty solid. He's an experienced offensive play caller, which was needed on a team where the HC is focusing on defense. He's not the HC so his record as HC is irrelevant. 2. Who was better that was actually available?

Well you can tell that by how many teams wanted to hire the guy. Who was talking about him after our OC was fired. Nobody including you. Then we hear that oh he might be available to coach and now we’re like oh he’s really great!!! So great his last stop was at Stanford and before that NFL Head Coach Job (2023): Carolina Panthers (fired after 1-10 start).

Until we stop settling for the bottom of the basement when comes to coaches and players we will remain in a position of being irrelevant. Nobody was trying to hire DC Doookey.. And Frank Reich as OC? who was lining up trying to hire this gem? It’s really bad.. But judging by some recent texts I received by some fans they will celebrate this hire just to celebrate something. If the jets don’t score I last two minutes you win 10k. But the jets will lose.. Would you root for them to score and win the superbowl and you lose the 10k? #Jetup

Someone talk me into cruises. Because I really do not get it and it sounds like my worst nightmare. I’ve purposefully never been on one. You trap yourself on a boat in the middle of the ocean with a bunch of strangers. Everything is kinda crowded and costs way more than it should. And then every once in a while they release you to a random place that you have to race around and get back before the boat strands you in an unfamiliar place. I’d 10/10 rather fly to wherever I want to go and just do things at my own pace on my own time. What am I missing here?
