You cannot reason with someone who thinks that the way you are describing the daily starvation and slaughter of innocent civilians is unfair to the government who is starving and slaughtering them. /1
@timnitGebru (@dair-community.social/bsky.social)@timnitGebru

You cannot reason with people like this. Even if there is a court determination, they will continue to deny. "As a scientist" I know that. I also know that this is one of the most documented genocides. "Evidence" is not what will clear you of your genocide denial or hate.

The entry of Eritrean troops into the Irob district four years ago coincided with the intensification of the Tigray war in Ethiopia, @UhuruKE @UNGeneva @eu_eeas @SecBlinken #UpholdPretoriaAgreement #EritreanTroopsOutOfTigray @hrw @UN @StateDept @CharlesMichel @USUN @asqu26

#Ethiopia: Between two peace treaties: #Irob community confronts plight, looming displacement addisstandard.com/?p=43828 Fisuh Welde, a lifelong resident of Irob district in Ethiopia's #Tigray region, reflects the enduring spirit of his community amidst adversity. For generations, Fisuh and his family have called this rugged, mountainous terrain their home, relying on agriculture for sustenance. However, their resilience has been tested by conflicts like the 1998-2000 Ethio-Eritrean border war and the recent Tigray war. The entry of Eritrean forces into Irob district four years ago compounded their challenges, leading to an unsettling reality akin to an "open-air prison." Residents like Fisuh have faced isolation, abductions, and limited access to essential services. The abduction of 28 youths by Eritrean troops in 2023 highlighted the plight of families left in uncertainty about their loved ones' whereabouts. Despite the signing of peace agreements like the #Algiers_Agreement, which aimed to delineate borders and foster peace, the Irob community remains caught in geopolitical contention. The implementation of these agreements has been marred by complexities, including the continued presence of #Eritrean forces in Tigray. Fisuh's story underscores the human toll of border disputes and geopolitical maneuvers. As his community grapples with displacement and uncertainty, voices like Tesfay Woldemariam advocate for international intervention to safeguard the rights of minority groups like the Irob. The recent establishment of a committee to monitor violations of peace agreements offers a glimmer of hope for Fisuh and others. However, challenges persist, and the road to lasting peace remains fraught with obstacles. As Fisuh navigates the uncertain terrain of his ancestral homeland, his resilience mirrors that of his community, steadfast in their quest for peace and stability.
