Network Rail tells me that it is replacing the footbridge over Christmas. Old one out, new one in. But will anyone use it? I think the offices are empty and the works slated for closure. Unless anyone knows different…?

@chilternrailway @brucerutland There are announcements at stations but I have never heard one on trains where the issue is most impactful to passengers. Plus the term ‘vaping’ needs to be used as I doubt anyone has used ‘e-cigarette’ to refer to what they are doing for the best part of 15 years.

@DavidHorne @RailUKForums Hi David, two consecutive journeys on IC225 sets at the weekend with reservations not showing and Train Managers didn’t follow this procedure. I hope this is useful feedback.

Hi, if the seat reservation system isn’t working our Train Manager will usually request that customers sit in their booked seats stated on their tickets. This reduces confusion on board, and avoids delay to the service and conflict. The Train Manager will make an announcement at every station requesting that customers sit in their reserved seat and non-reserved customers use coach C. We have had good feedback from customers and crews on this approach. I hope this answers the question.

@DavidHorne It is the case on most TOCs with reservations (e.g. TPE) that if reservations are not displayed, then the train is effectively the same as any non-reserved train. @lner certainly used to have this policy; Guards used to announce this. But, has that now changed?
