@imeupolicy Democrats toss around words like "murder", "genocide", "racism" "fascist" "dictator" etc. so freely that the terms no longer have any meaning.

NEW POLL: 76% of voters in Texas' March Democratic primary say Israel is committing genocide in Gaza and 80% support ending weapons funding to Israel. James Talarico was boosted by a 4:1 margin over Rep. Crockett by his comments criticizing Israel. More findings 🔽

@verbaluced @strxwmxn "Extemists and ethnonationalists" is part of the self-referential language used by zionophobes. These words have no inherent meaning, so their only use is to smear

If Zionism simply means the right to continued Jewish self-determination in Israel, then I’m 100% a Zionist. If Zionism means expansion, supremacy, and subjugation, then I’m not. Anti-Zionists blur these definitions so they can condemn the second while meaning the former.

@CoreyWriting A central issue is that the Oslo process utterly failed, bc there is/was no Palestinian leadership which will/would agree to a final end of the conflict and to use force against irredentists. Democrats can't live with this reality. So they refuse to discuss it.

Anti-Israel activists aren't the majority of the Dem. base and very few Dems want to actually destroy Israel. It's fatalistic to believe Israel can't shift popular opinion through their choices. Problem is Israeli desires/interests conflict with what the West wants to see.
Evan Rosenfeld@Evan_Rosenfeld

Democrats are trying to buy time on Israel by making Netanyahu the whole issue. It is a way to appease an increasingly radical part of their base without admitting how far that base has moved from even conditional support for the U.S.-Israel alliance.

@wifeknave @avrilbradley23 Not only is this false (noone has ever made peace proposal on these or similar terms), the Left will always unconditionally support Palestinian extremists (10/7 showed this).

@TheBCAnalyst @avrilbradley23 If they destroyed the settlements, arrested the settlers, gave amnesty those arrested without due process (including Barghouti) and let the PA form a real government with other factions then it wouldn't. Unless Isreal does this they're plainly not interested in lasting peace.

@daniel_gorila The intensity of Spanish animosity to Israel is paralleled only (maybe) by the Irish. Both seem to have atavistic Catholic (pre-Vatican 2) attitudes. Spain was fascist til the 70s, but now wants to pretend that it's the moral conscience of Europe.

@JillFilipovic The Left must always side with the Palestinians. It's fundamental to their identity. So we should appreciate people like Jill who pin their opposition on non-essential things like Bibi or "settlers", bc otherwise they would be forced to go full antizionist.

Bibi didn’t just torch support for Israel in the US; he squandered every shred of goodwill Israel ever had, made the country an international pariah, and led the slaughter of thousands of innocents. One of the most disastrous leaders any country has seen in my lifetime.
Barak Ravid@BarakRavid

Bibi torched U.S. support for Israel for a generation. Older Republicans and white Evangelicals are the last groups to hold majority favorable views of Israel, according to recent Pew polling, @AndrewSolender and Justin Green write for @axios axios.com/2026/04/18/isr…

Sanchez announced that Spain will formally request, at Tuesday's meeting of the EU's 27 foreign ministers in Luxembourg, that the association agreement with Israel be terminated. "A government that violates international law or EU principles cannot be its partner," he argued.

@BlueGeorgia Sullivan said in an interview that after October 7, he and his staff agreed that Netanyahu must not be allowed to benefit politically from the subsequent war. Put differently: the Biden State Dept decided that Hamas/Hezbollah/Iran were going to win.

Jake Sullivan: Our interests diverged. Israel would just prefer absolute chaos in Iran. Bill Maher: Israel wanted the same thing we did. They didn't want chaos. Rahm Emanuel: After June, Iran was seen as weak. That is where you wanted them. Now they have the Strait of Hormuz and they're holding the entire world economy hostage.

I really don’t understand what’s radical of conditioning aid and sales on a country that’s been violating intl law for seven decades. The democratic base finally sees Netanyahu not a cause but a symptom of a larger problem of Israel. It’s not on the dems to fix their base it’s on Israel to change course

@NadavPollak These morons can only speak in their circular language of slurs: "all the ethnocentrism welded their supremacism to the cruelty of their conscience, which finally led to apartheid and genocide etc etc If you ask how Israel should deal w Hamas-run Gaza, they won't answer.

This is very true but incomplete. Blaming Bibi for all this disaster is easy but the more difficult reality is that Israel has transformed into an aggressive, warlike ethno-supremacist country, buttressed by religion, which Americans, including many American Jews, simply detest.
Aaron David Miller@aarondmiller2

Between Trump and Netanyahu they eroded the most important adhesive in the US-Israeli relationship: bipartisanship. And both set out to undermine and ignore anyone in the Jewish community who didn’t hold right-wing views.

@NewYorker Strangely, people have a difficult time articulating just what it is about the "current govt" that affects American Jewish identity. Often it boils down to: I want to be a Democrat, but Democrats demand that I denounce Trump and support Iran.

El-Sayed gaining in the Mich Senate race is emblematic of the Dem Party at-large on Israel. There's really no divide on Israel with Dem voters. Dramatic shifts to basically uniformly negative. Israel's net favorable is -54 pts or worse with young, old, liberal & moderate Dems.
