PSA: If I start talking about really random stuff I'm just getting the thoughts out of my head. There's very limited space and I need all I can get. 😂😂

@DanielW_Kiwi It's no different than saying you should buy your food from a local farmer rather than a big box store. Sometimes you just want the "proper" experience.

@LoschbourStev Yeah. Pretty much. You know how I know someone isn't from Tennessee? They wear cowboy hats. If you're from Tennessee and you do wear a cowboy hat I assume it's either ironic or you're a moron.

@IBullyClankers @DelusionPosting Exactly. When you get beyond the number of folks the average person can mentally organize, ~200 if memory serves, then you start getting apathy. That's also why city folk feel so isolated even though there's a million people outside their door, but farmer Jim feels connected.

@Typing_Tech @DelusionPosting That's the problem, it only works in family settings, soon as you scale it up, it doesn't work. People have different beliefs, motivations, and generally caring doesn't extend to unknown people.

@Nichola34737006 @MostlyMonkey In ritual Tennessee I get a mixed bag. I'll get some folks that understand my esoteric literature quotes. Then there's those that I have to explain what I thought were basic terms. I think it stems from a lack of curiosity rather than region or politics.

@MostlyMonkey I never trust these literacy maps. I live in the rural south, according to this map there should be drooling, non-reading tards all over the place. I have never, in my entire life, met a functional adult that could not read. Where are they getting these numbers from?

@IBullyClankers @DelusionPosting Honestly a family commune would be kinda dope. But it would absolutely require everyone to be onboard and not only willing, but genuinely motivated to help each other. Even then it only takes one generation of "I wanna do my own thing" to bring that system to its knees.

@DelusionPosting Looking at commune experiments where people share food and everything is shared, starts off ok, then people start to get lazy and hard workers begin to hate the lazy people and end up leaving, and it falls apart. Communism removes the incentives, and that's why it commits suicide

@ShamashAran @SouthernKeeks I'm sorry to hear that. It's a hard thing to want something so much and have no power to make it happen. My wife and I were almost in that boat too. Then our little angel came earlier this year. Love from Tennessee.

I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a mom someday. And anyone I dated had to want kids as well. When my husband and I started our family (post-grad school + moving across the country), I unexpectedly struggled with years of infertility. We’re 43 and 44 now with a 9 yo and 5 yo. Personally, I’d have loved to have four or five children. It didn’t work out that way and that’s ok. I’m overjoyed with our two boys. I share this because: 1. Life will never be perfect so don’t put off having children. 2. Don’t expect that when you do decide to start, it will be smooth sailing. You may deal with fertility issues (and other things) you never anticipated. Get married. Have kids. That’s the best stuff in life. 💗

@MachoCrotcho22 @4nt1p4tt3rn Check and see if your state has any "first time home buyers" assistance. That's literally the only reason I have a house. I didn't have to pay any down payment. That said, I got my house in 2020 before things went crazy so YMMV. The struggle is real, but you got this!

You want a house? Cool, cool. When are you gonna give up your $1,500 smartphone that you buy the new version of every year or so? When are you cancelling all your subscription services? When are you giving up Uber, and UberEats? When are you going to stop buying a $7 "coffee" every morning, sometimes twice a day or more? When are you going to do without a weeklong (or longer) vacation at least once each year to some exotic locale? When are you gonna sell your brand-new car, buy a beater, and drive it until the wheels fall off instead of trading in every 3-5 years? When are you gonna stop going clubbing every weekend? When are you gonna let go of your $100/week or more booze/weed habit? When are you gonna quit eating out almost exclusively? You're not? You don't really want a house.

@Sean31511042677 @ShamashAran @GeorgeWept Demons can quote scripture. So trying to judge another person by the words they say, or don't, instead of their actions is kinda stupid. The Bible says, "you shall know them by their fruit." So we should be looking for good fruit rather than punchy slogans.

@Typing_Tech @ShamashAran @GeorgeWept It's basically used as a shibboleth in this context. The idea is that demons can't say it, so when non Christians fail to say it back, it's taken as evidence they're demons or influenced. As with any meme, usage can vary, but it means, "you suck because you're not Christian."

@wojakcodes Every man should cry. But we should also know WHEN to cry. When we're home or with people we trust? Absolutely. When we're overwhelmed in a boardroom? Absolutely not.

@TylerPenguin2 @ShamashAran @GeorgeWept Exactly. It's one thing to have that as your personal motto or something. But to say it for shock and awe? That's not something a mature Christian would do. Christ is not our cudgel to beat people with.

@ShamashAran @GeorgeWept I mean, Christ is king, but how are you going to say that in the same breath as an FU? Makes me question how strong their faith really is.

@_gumba1 @Palakonweb A Kernel. You wouldn't be able to do much with it without GNU. Linux is the engine and GNU are the steering wheel and gas/brake pedals. Together they make a complete OS.

@ShamashAran This is one of my few gripes with libertarianism. This and a couple other points is why I'm a minarchist rather than libertarian. Without (some) laws there cannot be freedom.

@ShamashAran The wife and I quite enjoy critical role. Not sure why someone who likes DnD wouldn't like them. Not to mention almost all of them were voice actors in stuff we grew up watching/playing.

I Dont quite understand why i'm supposed to hate Critical Role. I had this convo with hubs, who basically said, "They ruined D&D" I guess since i only been playing for a little while i don't see it and don't care. I like this game so far. I like "Legend of Vox Machina"
