An aerial view of the 'Unfinished Obelisk' in the 3500-year-old granite quarry in Aswan, Egypt.
The unfinished obelisk is nearly one-third larger than any ancient Egyptian obelisk ever erected. This obelisk, which is 25m long today, if it had been finished by the ancient Egyptians, would be almost measured around 41.75m (137.0 ft) and would have weighed nearly 1,090 tonnes, a weight equal to about 200 African elephants.

1980s rules:
Turns are taken to swing and try smash your opponents conker whilst they dangle their conker with arm outstretched.
If they move their conker whilst dangling then you get another go.
If you miss their conker then you miss your turn.
Each conker starts as a 1 rating
If you smash a conker your conker gets their rating added on.
Any conker rated above 100 is considered royalty! 👑 🌰
Somebody once claimed they knew someone who knew someone who’s older brother had a 3000+ rated conker. I don’t believe them.
Soaking in vinegar overnight to harden it is considered cheating. It’s recommended to sniff an opponents conker before a match to detect vinegar odour
Filling a conker with concrete, varnishing it is also considered cheating.
If the strings become intertwined then yanking is not permitted.

Something beautiful for the weekend!
An extraordinary Acheulean handaxe knapped around a fossil shell circa 500,000-300,000 years ago.
The maker appears to have deliberately flaked around the shell to preserve and place it in a central position. As a result this handaxe has been described as an early example of artistic thought.
