You shouldn't need to be an expert in strategies to just be able travel while using a wheelchair. Be careful with dispatches, especially at Liverpool Street. I once had one get dispatched as I was inches away, trying to reach the door button. Scary.

@LordOrk @WestMidRailway @LevelBoarding It's depressing that this keeps happening. Level boarding trains have been available for so long but now inaccessible trains will be inaccessible for so long, requiring manual boarding ramps which result in delay and failed assistance.

We agree that the beeping sound suggests a fault, the call was presented to our control centre but unfortunately we were unable to answer 1/

@blue_nose_amy @Christiane @benn_elisbenn I did write to building control for a restaurant that added a step at the entrance during a refurbishment some years ago. It took more than five years but they were eventually forced to restore step free access. (I chased with an email about once a year.) (5/5)

I just tried to plan a route to go to a shop I have never been. Spending money. The route planner said I should travel to Peckham Rye. They just invested £5 million in this station, but didn't make it accessible. So I won't spend my money. Prevent growth strategy.

@TLRailUK A ramp is needed at Gatwick yes, but not St P for most wheelchair users as it is level access due to the raised platform section on the center. I was told that the Gatwick platform was “the same” but is is not as it has no rais d section enabling step free access. I will DM.

.@TLRailUK, I boarded this morning at St P & when I asked if Gatwick is step-free, was told “the platform is the same as here.” Spoiler: it wasn’t, and I was greeted with a big step on arrival. Your staff cannot be giving false info to customers.

@Doug_Paulley I am a "stakeholder" who uses trains to travel while using a wheelchair and I support your actions which have done a lot of good for disabled people. I don't think you are going to be drowned out by their cultivated support.

@Tanni_GT The District Line at Victoria Station is "level" but has curved platforms which can make big gaps. Stepfreelondon.uk has useful info for which door to use to avoid needing a ramp, but a ramp makes it easier.

The point is that procuring the right (low floor) trains allows for easy wheelchair access, & procuring the wrong (high floor) trains results in decades of access fails when manual ramps are not provided correctly & delays even when done right.

New stock without level boarding, Claimed they couldn't build to level boarding spec because of the variety of platform heights in the UK. But they could, and failure to do so locks out level boarding for decades, even if platforms altered. @GarethDennis

@LudwigTails @Doug_Paulley @GarethDennis Yes, for the vast majority of platforms. The "operational needs" are the result of the design of trains which are a result of the procurement specifications. The UK standard platform height is selected to match the needs. Anything which doesn't use the standard is non-standard.

@Doug_Paulley @GarethDennis How is it all level boarding even possible. Trains aren’t like buses where they can lower and themselves to match the street height to easier accessibility. Trains just can’t do that it’s impossible. And you can’t even upgrade the platform heights when->

@Christiane So very frustrating. When that happens to me, it can be so dispiriting, especially knowing it could happen with the next bus too, not to mention the additional time waiting which is even worse in the cold. Also that could be a criminal offence.

@LordOrk @CLondoner92 Unfortunately, the language is complex enough to leave room for doubt that it was interpreted correctly. I take it to include claims which were not issued in court (Letter Before Claim stage), in which case, the numbers supplied by TfL are not correct.
