@bdquinn Bernie is the next victim of Claude pyschosis? I mean it's all true, but not exactly news. Bernie is getting exactly what he is asking for, like all other Claude (or AI generally) users.

@HKaaman And none of that opens Hormuz. A few guys with some shaheds in 1000 sq mi. of Iranian mountains can launch attacks on any ship passing through. Naval convoy is impossible. Welcome to Gallipoli, folks.

Ah, yes, a Marine landing force to seize Kharg island. Plus an adjacent force to occupy the mainland coastal strip nearby to prevent direct fire. And when you’re at it, might as well seize the entire Iranian Gulf coastal strip to stop anti-shipping fires. Then mountains for heig-

@dilanesper I think if we and Israel stop bombing Iran and killing all their senior people on the condition that the strait is opened, they’d prob do it

I really want to emphasize, I know the default anti-war position is "just stop the war" and I get that. But you can't just magically stop the war. You have to get the straits open, and the ways to do that are an agreement (difficult to get) or a military action.
Dilan Esper@dilanesper

@AcunaAndrew Even if he admits error, how does he get the straits of hormuz open? We're still committed at this point.

@joni_askola Absolutely. Society was well aware of the dangers of concentrated wealth during the gilded age as well as the Roaring Twenties. The rich just brainwashed everybody into forgetting about it.

Over the last few years, American tech oligarchs have become the greatest argument against their own existence. The sheer scale of their erratic behavior and political interference proves that extreme wealth concentration is a structural threat to society

NEW: US allies do not see a realistic way of reopening the Strait of Hormuz without ending the war. G7 countries have been discussing how they could help Trump. There are conversations about a framework for Hormuz security. The UK has sent military planners to the US for talks. But the reality is these conversations are at a very early stage and US allies are not looking at sending naval assets until the conflict eases. US allies are yet to be convinced there is any credible military plan to reopen the strait. The UK has been in talks with Lloyds of London about insurance products and prices when the situation calms. But even then insurance is not seen as the big issue - it is safety. It marks a widening disconnect between the US and Europe over the war amid concerns Trump ultimately doesn’t have a plan. Meanwhile energy prices are soaring, bonds tumbling and interest rates are set to rise. With @EllenAMilligan @golnarM >> bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

@tRumpnado2016 Trump's generation of rightoids have wanted to "nuke Iran" ever since the 1979 hostage crisis. It wasn't necessarily literal, but they figured killing the Ayatollah would make things "all better". Having done that and only radicalized Iran, a nuke is next. God help us all.

Overwhelming force” and “largest strike package yet” sound decisive, but they signal escalation. Precision doesn’t erase consequences. At what point does this become counterproductive, creating more instability and humanitarian risk than it solves? @SecWar
DOW Rapid Response@DOWResponse

.@SECWAR “To date, we have struck over 7,000 targets across Iran and its military infrastructure. That is not incremental. That is OVERWHELMING FORCE applied with precision. Again, today will be the LARGEST STRIKE PACKAGE YET—just like yesterday was... we are hunting, striking, delivering death and destruction from above.”
