I'm dead against the proposed new housing development near us but the group formed in opposition to it is so full of flag-shaggers, illiterates, reactionaries and general numpties that I'm actually coming around to the idea that some new neighbours might be a good thing.

The real disgrace in UK's welfare bill is that so much of it is spent on people in work. We are subsidising jobs that do not pay enough to live on. If we genuinely made sure work paid a decent living, then we would not have such a high bill.

@ReemAmirIbrahim "A Great Repeal Act - scrap all laws since 1997" This would: -return us to the EU as laws were passed to leave it. -scrap same sex marriage and civil partnerships -legalize stalking -remove all safeguards from internet use in the UK. Care to reconsider?

If I were in No. 10, here’s what I’d do👇 — A Great Repeal Act - scrap all laws since 1997 — Abolish DCMS (~£8bn) — Scrap the triple lock + means-test pensions to <£1m wealth (~£40bn) — Withdraw funding to hundreds of quangos (~£350bn) — Repeal the Town & Country Planning Act — Abolish subsidies — Abolish minimum wage (like Sweden!) — Replace the NHS with social health insurance model (Netherlands-style) — Simplify benefits - 1 disability benefit + 1 unemployment benefit — Introduce school choice - voucher system & no catchment areas — Radical tax simplification - broader base, lower rates — Unilateral free trade - scrap all tariffs & quotas That would be a good start. (PS: don’t worry, I have zero political ambition. taxation is theft & politicians are lizards).

@thetimes Are you taking the piss now? 'Reeves did win the under-14 title for the British Women’s Chess Association Girls Championship, along with three others. “That is not the British girls’ championship, it is clearly defined as the girl who does best in the British championship,”'

I run a shop. I didn't process a single cash transaction for 3 weeks and did under 20 for the whole year. So I decided to go electronic only as it's so much cheaper. Suddenly everyone's up in arms. Maybe if they actually used cash they could complain. But they don't.

🔥Another victory for #commonsenseinKent 🔥my brilliant cabinet member Cllr Paul Webb has just got this trans material REMOVED from the children’s sections of all Kent’s libraries. Telling children they’re in the ‘wrong body’ is wrong and simply unacceptable.

@CodingMonkey Hi Michael, I would advise to hold off for the moment if you can. Our engineers are still carrying out fault finding as there is still customers off supply. We're estimating between now and 04:30 to have all supplies restored. Apologies once again. Geraint

@anon_opin Went 94,95 and 97 and paid a grand total of £15 to get in for all 3 years. £5 per year. Music scene exploding and not a care in world and the word “glamping” didn’t exist

The BBC obsession with Glastonbury is baffling, it's just an 'experience' for the middle classes, captured by corporate greed, that was last any good in 1999.

@afneil So your tweet contains either falsehoods or a tacit admission that you didn't call out Boris at the time. L "Hey I'm a liar" or "hey I sat back and let Boris run rampant" is not a great gateway to your article.

@MrAndyMich @ginandfred @afneil Because you can not seriously say this is the worst government you've ever seen unless you were in an coma for the last 14 years. - Sunack, Truss, Johnson, May and Cameron have all been so much worse.

You said the right wing has “quite literally” controlled the media. I showed you for newsrooms/journalism only 3% are republicans. This has been known for years for anyone willing to listen. NPR was all over the news recently for same. Say that’s not accurate and it’s 20%. How does that translate to “quite literally” controlling? The “think for me machine” is a digital resource - tell me oh wise one how you learn these facts otherwise?

@atomlib @maxfras @IAPonomarenko Necroing this 3 year old post I see! This was pointed out at the time but it still doesn't excuse the other blatant nonsense in that picture though. 3 copies of the Sims, the flags. Even if you are correct and that was their intention this just a terrible fake and remains so.

A Hitler portrait, a swastika flag, a Neo-Nazi publication, some meth, and Sims 3 discs (important!) are exactly what you would take with yourself for a high-profile mission to assassinate a top-ranking war propaganda pundit in Russia. Totally makes sense.
