@Edesilon @ShitpostRock2 and also I don't see how i'm 'imposing standards' i'm just agreeing with the point of this meme, the joke is how only women are allowed to stay in their bubble/comfort zone and that men can't. which is fine, that's just how it should be.

@k11yon @ShitpostRock2 Just meeting people through life, most of my friends found their partners just making friends and getting to know people. You should realize that you’re currently imposing standards on men of what you think women want, which was my point.

@k11yon @ShitpostRock2 The kind of woman that prefers introverted guys probably doesn't want to be randomly approached, given that they prefer introverted guys.

@Edesilon @ShitpostRock2 nah women only SAY they like introverted/shy guys but they only like it in the Hollywood romanticized kind of way. In reality if you approach a woman and you're a stuttering mess youre cooked nothing patriarchy about it

@vaultah @ShitpostRock2 Ok, if you want me to be stronger a lot of women like these kinds of men. There's an experiment that works most of the time on "sensitive" men, which is that their dads are usually also like them, and they obviously found a partner.

@Edesilon @ShitpostRock2 FWIW I did notice that sneaky "some". It's adorable that you want to be an edgy contrarian, but your honesty won't let you, since even you realize how much of a stretch that statement is

@ptrschmdtnlsn @RokoMijic If you are maximizing expected value, red is always the right choice whatever the distribution is. If you are maximizing possible value, blue is always the right choice. This reframing only matters if you are maximizing some combination of the two and need to trade off.

Blue button/red button, but let's vary the threshold that need to hit blue to save all the blue-pushers. For example, if 80% of people had to hit blue to save the blues, would you still hit blue? What's the *highest* percentage at which you still hit blue?

@cyhithegoat @mersomas I’m guessing because it’s something that he’s passionate about instead of the side thing he accidentally got famous for and doesn’t actually know much about

@DavidAstinWalsh @Tyler_A_Harper My parents (born in the early 1930s) were both teachers, as were both grandmothers. No one went beyond a bachelors. But they cared about education and were proud of my PhD. I’m curious how many PhD holders have a similar pedigree?

@chowell2000 @maxtmcc @vanillaopinions This will happen in your lifetime. This is the first year where colleges saw a decrease in enrollment, and it’s already built into the next 18 years. I’ll leave it as an exercise to the reader to figure out the consequences of a shrinking tax and consumer base.

@notcuillin @maxtmcc @vanillaopinions With a shrinking population that will be harder, and it makes sense for equity in a company being worth less in a shrinking economy.

@notcuillin @maxtmcc @vanillaopinions It’s equity in a company, but price discovery is fundamentally broken because Warren Buffett told everyone to buy etfs instead of managed funds. Everyone wants to cash out because you can’t eat SPY and so at some point the money that comes in has to come out.

@snelsonmandela2 @maxtmcc @vanillaopinions Meaning that there will be a constant sell pressure. This might happen faster if people stop believing in 401ks sooner. This might become worse as the economy also contracts due to a smaller population.

@snelsonmandela2 @maxtmcc @vanillaopinions Right now there’s more people buying into their 401ks than withdrawing, creating buying pressure that increases the price. This will diminish as more people retire than work, due to population decline. Eventually there will be a point where more people sell than buy

@Punished_Jess @LinkofSunshine Society would collapse if lots of people just randomly died one day, and rebuilding would require high levels of cooperation around the world. Unfortunately the most highly cooperative people just died from pressing the blue button. Do you want to live in this world?

@maxtmcc @vanillaopinions If social security doesn’t have enough money to pay you out because there’s 1 young person for every 2 adults where is the money going to come from when they sell the stocks in your 401k?

@airkatakana Why wouldn’t they just decide to reset everyone on a specific day? You probably want to have usage be as steady as possible, no?
