@TurretinFan Is it your assertion that Paul is chiding someone for asking why God punishes us if we are just doing what He wills for us?
English

How many times will this account paraphrase Romans 9:19…
Romans 9:19 (KJV)
Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?
Soteriology101 🩸@Soteriology101
@daveyman3 If no freedom, no sin.
English

@quickened2him @subq My bad, sorry I assumed that you did.
English

@DustinSJenkins @subq No, humans don’t have free will, and I don’t adhere to Reformed confessions.
English

This assertion is found nowhere in Scripture.
Soteriology101 🩸@Soteriology101
@daveyman3 If no freedom, no sin.
English

@quickened2him @subq Do you think (against almost all reformed confessions) that humans don’t have free will?
English

@DustinSJenkins @subq I’m sure you can think of verses, but none of them will actually support the “no freedom, no sin” claim. And no, I’m not a compatibilist, as that view isn’t found in Scripture any more than the original assertion is.
English

@subq @quickened2him I can easily think of a half dozen verses off the top of my head. you’re not a compatibilist?
English

@quickened2him what in the world?!
that guy just makes stuff up (that isn’t Biblical in the slightest), doesn’t he? lol
English

@Caleb_In_Ohio @WWUTTcom It is, it’s just an optical aberration from the intense light of what is most likely a rocket fired away from the camera. The trail and its ballistic-like motion are all easily explained.
English

@CherylSchatz Some believe the moral influence model, others believe the Christus victor model. Neither necessarily entail God’s wrath executed on Jesus and they were some of the earliest atonement models attested.
English

@DustinSJenkins Yes. The atonement is made for all sin.
Condemnation is the result of unbelief.
English

@ChristLifeInc1 Yes, God has been reconciled to man, sin is no longer a barrier to God and He has bought back the entire world with His death, but we must also reconcile ourselves to Him through faith in Jesus.
English

@DustinSJenkins The payment has been made for reconciliation. But according to the Bible faith in Jesus is the difference. (John 3:18)

x.com/SammyOleka/sta…
This has nothing to do with Jesus.
"from the issuing of the word"
This has to be Jeremiah’s word.
"the anointed prince"
This is probably Antiochus IV Epiphanes. One should remember that “anointed” in biblical Hebrew is the equivalent of“crowned”...

Samuel Oleka@SammyOleka
Prince of princes (8:25) who is evidently the "Messiah the Prince" (9:25). Antiochus didn't stand up against Jesus as he lived 2 centuries before Jesus. 5. The effect of the Messiah's work is connected with the abomination of desolation, which is connected with the little horn.
English

No, you're wrong. I can name three problems with the Rome/Fourth Beast tradition.
1) Who conquered Alexander's Empire?
2) The origin of the little horn.
3) The fourth beast conquers the other three.
theharvestatearthsend.com/The-Prophecies…
I'll explain in more detail.
Samuel Oleka@SammyOleka
The scholars are all wrong. 1. "The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces." — Dan 7:23. This hardly describes the Seleucid Greeks.
English

@JesusDied4UToo It’s a deep one. Heiser has quite a long blog about 5:12 on his site.
English

@JesusDied4UToo It wouldn’t be out of character for God to be more merciful than we expect (His ways are higher than our ways, the actual context of that passage) but scripture would need to be understood in a quite non-traditional sense.
English

@DustinSJenkins Especially if the warnings are more about millennium kingdom reign and roles with torment being a crystal clear refining fire for all of humanity. I don’t know. I would not evangelize with that, but it does make so many of us wonder. 2 or 3 ways this could all work out… 3/3
English

@_DHDS My guess is a weak sauce/straw man definition of LFW
English

How is an atemporal God determined by prior antecedents?
Chris Harris@Pastor_ChrisH
God does not have LFW.
English

@BaptistBavinck @rootcausesleuth @RefRetrieval @glpinkston @intj68 @BethanyMcGrew Now, why did the heavenly utensils need cleansed with blood?
English

@rootcausesleuth @DustinSJenkins @RefRetrieval @glpinkston @intj68 @BethanyMcGrew Yes. That’s exactly what Hebrews is explaining. The OT offerings and sacrifices were only shadows that pointed to the substance - Christ.
English

@BaptistBavinck @RefRetrieval @glpinkston @intj68 @rootcausesleuth @BethanyMcGrew I don’t disagree with that. Just died for sinners.
English

@BaptistBavinck @RefRetrieval @glpinkston @intj68 @rootcausesleuth @BethanyMcGrew I don’t think atonement is unnecessary for forgiveness , I think that atonement is a universally efficacious act by Jesus. I was just telling you that Hebrews says under the law there is no forgiveness without the shedding of blood (not a universal truth, see lev 5:11-13)
English

@RefRetrieval @glpinkston @intj68 Haha it’s fine. I was mostly joking. Y’all are free to discuss your differences here.
But the OP was a subtweet for several people (@rootcausesleuth @BethanyMcGrew @DustinSJenkins et al) who seem to think the atonement is unnecessary for forgiveness.
