@BCipnic @RockChartrand I would guess most of his capital is already active and you probably interact with it every day. It's called Google/Alphabet. How is "freeing" that capital any better than printing money to spend it on pointless labor? It's both good for the recipients but bad for everyone else.

@LongTimeNoDuck @RockChartrand In economic terms, I'm not sure it's 'waste', though. It moves accumulated capital back into action, after all. Did you have something else more useful you were prepared to pay them to do ?

Of course he spent $45M to stop it, it’s cheaper than the tax. And it’s absurd that someone has to lobby just to keep what they earned. That alone tells you the baseline assumption is wrong, that their money already belongs to the state. Also notice the framing. “He doesn’t want to pay 5%.” That’s not 5% total, it’s an additional 5% on top of everything already taken. And what does it fund? Not solutions, but a system that consistently spends more, delivers less, and then demands even more to fix the problems it created. Politicians don’t ask, “what have we achieved with what we’ve already taken?” They ask, “where else can we take from?” There’s no accountability, only escalation. And the fact that resisting that requires millions in lobbying should be the biggest red flag of all.

NEW: Google co-founder Sergey Brin spent $45 million to stop a California wealth tax. He's worth $222 billion, and doesn't want to 5% of that going to fund health care in his state. Right now he has a powerful ally — Gavin Newsom. But the people of California feel differently.

@LongTimeNoDuck @RockChartrand Another framing : Lawyers made $45 million arguing for the rich guy, and that trickled down as spending from them, so it's still economically better than Sergei just sitting on it.

@worthitorwoke My guess is that they want the show to feel more grounded in reality. That's why the clothes look like a crossover between modern school uniforms and wizard robes. They included more ethnic diversity because, if not realistic, it's at least familiar from the shows we are used to.

This single shot says a lot about the show. - The uniforms are trash. They look like they’re from Walmart’s Halloween section. -It could just be an awkward freeze-frame, but the kid in the foreground looks like he’s sashaying his way to The Bird Cage’s all male review of Harry Potter. -It’s the Scottish Highlands in the 1990’s, yet, almost magically, the only white guy in large group of English students is a villain.

@nick_matau The post calls them hostages. So many of those propaganda victims actually believe that Israel picks up random Palestinians from the street to imprison them. And you already know that, for every execution, the keffiyeh crowd will tell us how this was some innocent father of 10.

The death penalty is for a terrorist who kills at least 1 person or more in an act of terrorism. The fact that the pro palis think so little of "Palestinians" that they know "thousands of them" will be terrorists says all you need to know. If you think so little of the Palestinians, why tf should I think higher of them?

Ben Gvir is posting videos showing off the execution chamber where he will exterminate thousands of Palestinian hostages. Imagine if Hitler broadcast videos of his gas chambers to gloat like this.

The "Settler Violence" in the "West Bank" is not a Bug, It's a Feature Isn't it strange that ever since the so called reports of "Jewish extremist terror in the West Bank" have risen, at the same time actual Islamist terror attacks on Israelis, originating from the West Bank, have plummeted to nearly Zero. Without these shows of force against the jihadists occupiers, the Arabs in Judea and Samaria would be carrying out daily terror attacks just as they have been doing for decades. What some call settler violence, I call a show of force against the sub human criminal jihadist mongrels. This is not Miami. This is the Middle East where Jews either have to show force or be slaughtered.

I was listening to MS now about an hour ago. The serious faced, breathless anchor woman kept on talking about the dire situation that the United States is in and how the president has no options left. And I stared incredulously at the screen wondering what the hell she was smoking because, from my point of view, the president has nothing but options. There are a A10 Warthogs flying at will over any part of Iran they want. Oh well, it was MS now so what can you say.

For those who don’t get the reference, this is the chief of the Ugandan military announcing a statue of Benjamin Netanyahu’s older brother Yoni, who fell in action 50 years ago this July, after Arab and German Marxist terrorists hijacked a Tel Aviv-bound plane and took the hostages at Entebbe Airport with the full collaboration of Idi Amin’s military. One hundred Israeli commandos traveled across Africa to rescue the hostages. They saved 102; four were killed, along with Yoni Netanyahu. The day Israel killed Khamenei would have been Yoni's 80 birthday.

@MaxNordau They did not say they supported "the slaughter of Jews". Many of them claimed to believe that no major atrocities had been committed, just as they believe Israel is an evil oppressor. This is important to understand if one wants peace.

Palestine is the most bloodthirsty, genocidal population on the planet, and it's not close. But there is some nuance: The Arab population in Judea & Samaria—which is not affected by the Gaza War—is actually MORE genocidal than their comrades in Gaza. Turns out that FA actually does lead to FO, at least marginally.

@HeTows You are thinking in tactical terms. Yes you can get short term wins (at massive cost, both human and otherwise) with this "who can hit hardest + longest" game, but in ten, twenty, fifty years, how do you think the next generations will react? What's sown now ripens in decades.

This is the Gaza dynamic all over again. The weaker side has an important card. The stronger side is willing to pay a high price for it, but not any price. The weaker side digs in its heels because it overestimates its own negotiating position and underestimates the stronger side’s resolve. (Often, they are misinformed about the mood on the other side by following that side’s opposition media.) Then the weaker side gets pummeled and thoroughly devastated, and will eventually have to settle for a lower price than what it could have gotten earlier. This is all Israel-Hamas reloaded. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

@testttt1236 @Jonathan_Blow A simulation is just an approximation of some kind in any case and, under certain conditions, physics are predictable enough to be approximated. But some systems are too chaotic for that. Quantum behavior might increase complexity but quantum computers can compensate for that

When you stream Spotify to Bluetooth speakers or headphones, the audio comes over the network lossily compressed with Vorbis or AAC codecs, is then decoded on your device to 48 Khz raw samples, then the Bluetooth stack lossily re-compresses it with SBC or AAC codecs before sending it over the airwaves to the speakers. I don’t have “golden ears” to pick apart audio quality like I can with, say, missing gamma correction on texture filtering, but that still hurts my system optimization soul. It is likely over-optimization, but It would be cleaner if there were a way to send bluetooth-ready, compressed audio directly.

The mistake she and other parents of victims make is they assume the pro-2A side has no empathy, and if we could just understand the unimaginable grief mothers like her go through after losing their child to a school shooting, we would all agree and pass more gun control. That's just not correct. I have a child of my own, do you think I'm OK with the idea of an armed lunatic in her school? Of course not. The disconnect is we reject your premise. Making good people helpless through disarmament does not equate to safety. Instead, we should meaningfully secure our schools and other truly sensitive places.
