My best friend is 37 years old. He has a 15 year mortgage and pays extra every month to pay down the loan faster. He thinks that he is better off paying less interest long term. How can I gently explain to him that he is financially illiterate and is making a huge mistake?

I seriously need some help here. My neighbor just put up this massive metal fence right along our property line and I’m honestly pretty upset about it. It completely changed the whole feel of my driveway and now it looks like I’m pulling into some kind of industrial corridor. I had no idea this was even happening until the thing was already built. It feels like my space just got boxed in overnight. What on earth can I do in a situation like this???

I had a manager who said he “couldn’t afford to invest.” But he took a family $7,000 vacation every year. $7,000/year at 8% for 30 years? $792,000. We don’t lack money. We lack priorities.

Buy vs rent debate... Too many people neglect this: Buying a home is forced savings. You have no choice but to "save" every month by paying your mortgage and building that home equity. It doesn't work in 100% of situations. But for the majority of homeowners, it's the greatest savings vehicle they'll have in their entire lives.

@MarketPalmer_ Forced savings is good. Paying for insurance, property taxes and broken appliances is not good. Rent with a leveraged investment account is the logical way to wealth.

How am I supposed to pay $1,600 rent $300 power $80 water $250 internet $100 car insurance EVERY MONTH while making less than $14 an hour??

It's crazy how men can make whole lists and drawings about the type of woman they desire. But let a woman simply state she wants a man taller than her or makes a bit more money than her and all hell breaks loose.

@BTCBreadMan Currently. The S&P could easily have a VERY bad year, just like any Index or other Fund. Also consider that any money he makes off of the investment will be taxed again, so you can cut at LEAST 20% off of those gains before comparing it to the Mortgage Interest savings.
