With the Oilers being successful with Leo out, it speaks success that the coach is getting more people involved, engaged and confident as opposed to running 97/29 into the ground and others wondering when they might get their next shift.

Last night at 5v5 when Max Jones was on the ice for the #LetsGoOilers 17-2 shot attempts 8-0 scoring chances 4-0 high danger chances 4-0 shots on goal Jones and Samanski have to stay in this lineup when Leon is back.

You can access LineBlender here: lineblender.kevinshockeystats.com Finally, for those wondering about the accuracy of BenchRates expected goals model, I was very surprised to learn that at 5v5, after being trained on almost 295k shots, their model has an AUC of 0.8084, which makes it one of the most accurate (if not the most) publicly available xG models. Please enjoy, use and abuse (within reason!) this tool, and if you don't mind, please share with those who may get use out of it. As a final comment, I wish to once again reiterate my deepest appreciation and thanks for the support of Hart @PuckPedia and the fine gentlemen over at @benchrates who made this idea possible. (PS. A few weeks ago I was getting frustrated with doing line analytics in using the traditionally available tools and I set out build something that I felt was better. I wanted a way to visualize roster analytics in real time given many coaches propensity to shuffle lines in a rapid-fire fashion. The tool is simple, move players around and watch the line combination and With-and-Without-You (WOWY) analytics update in near real-time. It allows you to also select defensemen with the forward lines you desire and work through all the permutations of WOWY available for those combinations. I wanted to do it in a clean, easy to use and understand manner. With these principles in mind I set out to create LineBlender, and sought partnerships with two premiere hockey data repositories in PuckPedia and BenchRates, who graciously provided the API data needed to make this application viable. Both organizations have my sincerest gratitude for making this possible. So with that out of the way, It is my honor and privilege to present "LineBlender" an analytics visualizer created in loving memory of Bruce McCurdy, who passed away one year ago today. He would have loved this tool.

@21mFrench @mathewjdp Yes a playoff format that changed for the 2013-14 season was ‘solely’done for the Oilers benefit. Checks note… Oilers finished 29th overall in 2013-14. Seems to add up. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️.

🚨 Do you understand what just happened in the Supreme Court.. Trump is sitting in the front row.. watching.. as the court he built starts to rule against him.. he appointed 3 of the 9 justices.. Gorsuch.. Kavanaugh.. Barrett.. he packed that court specifically to implement his agenda.. and now that same court is "casting doubt" on his bid to end birthright citizenship.. but here's the history nobody's talking about.. birthright citizenship comes from the 14th Amendment.. ratified in 1868.. written in the aftermath of the Civil War.. and it was written for one specific reason.. in 1857 the Supreme Court ruled in Dred Scott that Black Americans were not citizens.. had no rights.. and could never be citizens regardless of where they were born.. it was the worst Supreme Court decision in American history.. so after the war.. they wrote the 14th Amendment specifically so no future government could ever decide who is and isn't a citizen based on who their parents are.. the kind of thing no president could ever touch.. Trump is trying to touch it.. and the court he engineered.. the Supreme Court.. the one he spent his entire first term stacking so it would do what he wanted.. today that same court is telling him no.. he sat in the front row to watch history get made.. he just might be watching his own legacy fall apart instead.
