@PochardCapital Amsterdam is depressing because it's a city completely stuck in the past. People who built it would be depressed seeing no improvements Riding a bike for everything is fun as a tourist, forcing people who have to work to waste time they don't have, biking, is a humiliation ritual

@wolfstrength I've been doing squats and deadlifts for 16 years and I've never once been close to getting injured. On the rare occasions that the load has been too much it's been easy enough to drop it

Deep Squats, Shallow Thoughts
The reason there’s a thriving market in posting “hot takes” that any of the Big 3 basic barbell lifts are ineffective or dangerous, is because it’s obvious via thousands of people over numerous decades, that they’re very effective and safe when performed correctly with proper load

@QuetzalPhoenix This makes zero sense, and even if it did, repainting a building isn't going to break the bank.

100% I'm a dual citizen myself but would fully expect to denouce one to be in position of power in the government. It's a no brainer and a HUGE security risk for Canada to allow foreign citizens into positions of power and influence. There are dual loyalties at play. I wish Canadians understood that.

@Molson_Hart Families are not so hard! I've never trained for a race in my life, I work a regular 40 hours a week, and I have seven kids at age 40. My wife is an amazing stay-at-home mom, but any couple who want to can have 2-3 kids at least.

There are only 2 types: A. Start a family + obsessed with work + training for something B. Disappeared Starting (and maintaining) a family is so difficult today that the only way to do it is to obsess about work and be the type of person who trains for something.

The Cathedral in the former Mosque in Cordoba is quite astounding. I’ve never seen anything like it. Don’t really know how to describe it. Two thoughts:

I don’t get the hate - Mark Rippetoe never said Starting Strength was a bodybuilding program. Back in the good old days (2012), men lifted to get strong. Today’s obsession with online aesthetics would have seemed totally foreign.

2026 is the year I undo all the damage “Powerlifting” and Mark Rippetoe did to me No man has harmed more young men than Mark. He turned a whole generation of men into fat unaesthetic >30% bodyfat human pears with huge asses and wide birthing hips He is going to hell

@TheCityMentor You can't using an example of, maybe, bad architecture, or "ugly" facades, to validate pastiche architecture. The answer must be new styles, not going back.

I get why this "feels" insane, but if the entire planet wants to run roughshod over your island of 100k people, you should make sure that your people benefit from it in a *big* way. Many over-touristed places capture too little money, get too little localized benefit
