Here's a handy rule of thumb that holds up across skill levels... your scoring average over your last 20 rounds tends to be about 3 shots higher than your course handicap. Take the course par, add your course handicap, add 3, and you've got a rough expected average score. For Daniel from the reds at SouthShore: 71 + 5 + 3 = 79 His scoring average from the red tees would be about 79. After watching some of his video, I'd guess he actually plays a smidge better at that course (77.5 is my estimate for his scoring average). Bottom line is it's very much +EV that Daniel breaks 80 from the red tees with an 11.4 index. Next time I want in on this action. 😎
