🚨 FOIA Reveals UW Police Couldn’t Remove SUPER UW Protesters During Overnight HUB Occupation I got the first installment of a FOIA request back from the University of Washington for Student Life office records related to SUPER UW. For all the time I’ve spent digging into the radical student-movement ecosystem, SUPER UW’s overnight April 4, 2024 occupation of the HUB had somehow never crossed my radar. One line from the FOIA’ed materials jumped out. “Police did not have the officers needed to forcibly remove the protesters, so they stayed to monitor the situation.” I put together this graphic from the FOIA’ed materials so people can see the record for themselves.

Dear Senator Sanders, Oh, this is RICH. This is so perfectly, exquisitely, weapons-grade rich that I had to put down my anatomy exams and just... appreciate it for a moment. The man who got thrown out of a SOCIALIST HIPPIE COMMUNE in Vermont in 1971 — after THREE DAYS — for refusing to do any actual work while everyone else planted, harvested, and hauled water, is out here telling me the OLIGARCHS want to control everything. Three. Days. The communists gave you a longer trial period than most employers give to someone who steals from the register. Here is what Jim Quinn's Law Number Two says, and I want every single person reading this to tattoo it somewhere useful: "If you want to know what liberals are up to, pay attention to what they accuse conservatives of doing." Senator, you OWN THREE HOMES. A Burlington residence. A D.C. townhouse. A $575,000 vacation lake house in North Hero, Vermont — purchased in 2016, the same year you were touring the country telling college students the system is rigged. Your net worth sits somewhere between $2.5 and $3 million. You have pocketed over $2.5 MILLION in book royalties since 2011. That elevator is clearly not stuck between floors for you, is it. And then — THEN — during your "Fighting Oligarchy Tour" with AOC, you spent over $550,000 in CAMPAIGN FUNDS on PRIVATE JET TRAVEL. Half a million dollars on luxury jets to lecture working Americans about the dangers of wealth. When Fox News caught you boarding a Bombardier Challenger 604 — a jet that runs up to $15,000 PER HOUR — you did not apologize. You did not even blink. You looked directly into the camera and said, and I am quoting this verbatim because it is the most accidentally honest thing you have ever said: "You think I'm gonna be sitting on a waiting line at United?" Senator. THAT IS OLIGARCHIC THINKING. That is TEXTBOOK "the rules apply to you people, not to me." That is the elevator music of every single billionaire you have spent 35 years pretending to oppose. In a battle of wits with your own stated beliefs, you showed up completely unarmed. Thirty-five years in Congress. You know what your personal legislative output looks like? Eight bills passed. EIGHT. In three and a half DECADES. That works out to 0.23 bills per year. I have produced more graded anatomy exams in a single semester. Your two greatest solo legislative achievements — the ones with your name on top, the thing YOU actually DID — are the naming of a post office in Danville, Vermont, and the naming of a post office in Fair Haven, Vermont. You named. Two. Post offices. You are as useful as a screen door on a submarine when it comes to actually passing legislation, but you want me to believe you are the vanguard of the working class. That sounds like a YOU problem. Quinn's Law #25: "Liberals are great at giving away other people's money." You have been living PROOF of that law for 35 years. You give away everyone else's money — from a vacation home on a lake — while spending half a million on jets because you are far too important to wait in line with the taxpayers funding your lifestyle. You want to talk about oligarchs controlling the media? You have been IN the media for four decades. You just finished a $75 million documentary. You have a book deal. You have a podcast. You HAVE the megaphone and you are using it to tell people that other people have the megaphone. The gene pool really needed a lifeguard for THAT particular reasoning. I am a high school science teacher in Northeast Ohio. I support a family of six on a teacher's salary. I am not particularly impressed by a man with three houses, $550,000 in jet receipts, and 0.23 bills per year telling me he stands with the working class. More famous than wise, Senator. More famous than wise. The hippie commune knew it in 72 hours. How long is it going to take everyone else? IF you agree: LIKE this post so the algorithm shows it to people who need to read it. SHARE this. COMMENT below — do YOU think a man with three homes and a half-million dollar private jet habit speaks for working Americans? Tell me. And if you want MORE of this — the data, the history, the science, the stories — JOIN Bski's Classroom community on X or YouTube. But what do I know — I am only a science teacher who can actually do math, a retired Army combat medic who knows what genuine sacrifice looks like, and apparently one of the few people left who finds it suspicious that the most vocal enemy of oligarchy just cannot bring himself to wait in line at the airport with the rest of us. @JoJoFromJerz @GuntherEagleman @catturd2 #MAGA #Veterans #Trump

This is probably wrong. Almost every meaningful restriction of the Iran deal would have "sunset" by now, so the war would probably have happened anyway. Yes, kids, under the terms of the deal, limits on ballistic missile development, limits on numbers of centrifuges, on advanced centrifuge R&D, on nuclear-related imports and lots, lots more, including UN oversight itself that ensured that what remained would be adhered too -- would all have been lifted by now. The deal wasn't stopping anything. It was arming Iran to the teeth conventionally and kicking the nuclear can down the road.
Ben Rhodes@brhodes

Iran Deal put a lid on the nuclear program. It's loudest opponents in Israel and US needed to kill it bc they needed Iran to have an active program to justify war.

@UW_JewishAlumni @UW @guardian If the study of antisemitism worries “some Jewish scholars,” maybe *they* are the problem? Isn’t academia supposed to be dedicated to exploring different views?

ANNOUNCEMENT! A group of @UW faculty have established a new academic center to offer a place for open inquiry, intellectual rigor and fearless debate. 🙌 Naturally, the @guardian cried about it, misreporting that it's an antisemitism center (it's not); that it's not part of UW (it is). Here's what the center told us: "We are developing a center dedicated to academic excellence, independent thinking, and honest inquiry. Bridges for Change is an academic home at UW that values ideas over identity, and truth over tribalism." Maybe if the reporter interviewed the center's faculty— instead of a UW prof unaffiliated with the center, who feels threatened by viewpoint diversity—she would've gotten the facts? Still, it's great to see #UWBridgesforChangeInitiative getting international recognition and featured as an example of this growing national trend.👏👏👏

NEW: University of Washington departments are working with SUPER UW, the group that was suspended as a student organization after causing over $1 million in damage to the engineering building in May. On April 10, UW’s Harry Bridges Center for Labor Studies hosted a teach-in on “U.S. Imperial Wars,” which, according to The Daily, educated participants “on the methods and impact of United States colonialism.” The event, held on campus in the Samuel E. Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center, featured Professor Aria Fani, who was recently removed from his directorship of the Middle East Center by the Jackson School of International Studies (JSIS) after using the school’s listserv to send out his manifestos opposing the war in Iran. He wrote in his diatribes that it “was always BS” that the Islamic Republic was pursuing nuclear weapons, portrayed Israel as the aggressor despite Iran funding terror proxies to attack Israel, including most notably on Oct 7, 2023, and previously called the Jewish state “a country that is behaving increasingly like a Nazi state.” During his remarks, Fani said, Iranians were “gonna die of the cancer that is Zionism.” According to The Daily, the event was co-sponsored by “Students United for Palestinian Equality & Return UW (SUPER UW), Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), Anakbayan UW, and Nidal Seattle.” On April 16, SUPER UW claimed that the Harry Bridges Center was a co-sponsor of an event during which they would write letters to terrorists imprisoned in Israel in a room on campus. Because the group is suspended, it is not supposed to be able to use rooms on campus. In the same post, the group promoted their event this week during which they raised money to “materially support” the “Lebanese Resistance,” also known as Hezbollah, a US-designated terror organization. The event was officially promoted by official UW entities, including the Department of Political Science. So essentially, the Harry Bridges Center for Labor Studies, an official UW entity, is functioning as a 'front' for SUPER UW to actively let them have power and presence on campus. The revelation comes after earlier this week, the Dept of Justice announced an investigation into UW over its handling of antisemitism on campus

Stanford student leaders have decided to allocate more funding to the Muslim Student Union than to all Christian student groups combined. According to Stanford’s religious demographics, Christian students make up over half the student body, while Muslim students are roughly 2%. freebeacon.com/campus/stanfor…

Unfortunately, this isn't a one off. It's an absolute right to protest folks you disagree with - peacefully. It's not okay and in fact, unlawful, to impede those who are attending an event or block individuals from entering or leaving. The slurs of antisemitism and hate are inexcusable and harmful and hiding behind masks is cowardly. Basta. We are in a very dangerous time for our Jewish residents in our State and across our nation.

J Street
J Street@jstreetdotorg·
This moment demands a reset. J Street is calling for the U.S. to end unconditional financial military subsidies to Israel and to move towards a relationship where we treat Israel like any other ally. J Street supports: – Phasing out taxpayer-funded military aid by 2028, when the current agreement ends. – Ensuring Israel can defend itself, by selling – not subsidizing – the weapons it needs, including Iron Dome. – Enforcing U.S. law on how American arms are used, including withholding certain weapons when those laws are not met. Why now? The current U.S. aid agreement expires in 2028. This is the moment to chart a smarter path forward. At the same time, after the devastation in Gaza and ongoing suffering in the West Bank, it is clear that the status quo is no longer sustainable. Israel is strong, prosperous and capable of paying for its defense. Treating Israel as an exception and supplying it with a blank check worth billions has made support for the country more divisive and less sustainable. Simply put, the U.S. should treat Israel like any other partner. The normalization of this relationship doesn’t weaken the alliance – it strengthens it, protects democracy and secures long-term bipartisan support.

1. Israel’s post Oct 7th fight back on 7 fronts has been conducted more or less the same as it would have by any Israeli leader. Most Israelis believe that they can never again live with terror armies massing on the border, nor with a nuclear Iran, nor with Iran’s proxies stretching across all Israel’s neighbours to choke it to death. 2. Popularity in the US is critical. But survival is even more critical. Israel is a miniature country without much territory to protect its civilians. It faces more armies dedicated to its destruction than any other country. Fighting to survive may make it unpopular. Failing to do so would likely result in 8 million dead Israeli Jews. 3. Israel has faced the largest demonisation campaign in human history, with a concerted push from countries like China, Russia, Iran, Qatar and others, with disinformation armies it cannot hope to match, with behind the scenes buy outs of influencers, bot armies and manipulation machines it has been unable to push back against. 4. It also is up against the world’s oldest social pathology: demonisation of whatever represents the collective Jew. In the modern world that is the Jewish state. Mass demonisation of the Jewish collective is the norm not the exception. Having to fight a brutal urban war in a social media age is fertile ground for its reawakening. 5. The global red-green alliance constituting over half the world’s population has since at least the 1960s identified demonisation of Israel as its central unifying focal point. For decades at the UN 70% of resolutions will be condemnations of Israel no matter whether it is being attacked or at peace and no matter how many wars, famines, pandemics etc there are globally. This level of obsession and demonisation existed ling before this war. 6. Since the end of the cold war, soviet anti western thinking has permeated campuses and left wing politics to varying degrees. Central to that orthodoxy is an axiomatic religious like fervour that sees Israel as the great satan, in a way matched only by jihadism. In recent decades the two have become powerful forces in the global left. The trend of declining support for Israel especially on the left long precedes this war. 7. The world’s media and human rights groups and academics typically skew hard left, and carry with then this visceral hatred and demonisation of Israel and that was true long before the war. During the war these forces have focused vulture like on every ounce of suffering of Palestinians (which is real) in an obsessive way that they have not done for the dozens of other conflicts happening globally, and only do when it comes to Israel. This fuels the demonisation campaign no matter how ethically Israel tries to fight its war of survival. 8. For decades the ‘human rights NGOs’ have been hijacked by this obsession with Israel demonisation. They give ethical cover for this demonisation and hatred campaign. No matter how wild the accusation, the accuser can fall back on ‘but experts say’ ‘but human rights group x says’. The moralisation of demonisation is the historical fulcrum of Jew demonisation. Institutions of piety, morality or justice sanitise and moralise the demonisation. Mobs are whipped up, doubters are cast as heretics. 9. whole fictions and fabrications have emerged from otherwise trustworthy sources, on a regular basis. Lancet medical journal ran pieces alleging Gazan death tolls of fictional proportions, UN experts reported famines that were quietly retracted. Media plastered children suffering genetic diseases and claimed them to be victims of Israeli induced famines. Podcasters interviewed Anthony Aguilar making up stories about seeing Israeli soldiers shooting a child who, it turns out, is still alive, a war in which the civilian population grew became a “genocide”. Failure to acknowledge these forces at play is to miss the main story.
Joe Scarborough@ScarboroughNow

Netanyahu has caused a generational collapse of US support for Israel. I say this as a lifelong supporter of Israel who has long feared Netanyahu’s maximalist—and ahistorical—view of geopolitical realities in the Middle East would cause a devastating blowback for Israel. It has.

What's going on in Washington State? housing supply is skyrocketing, now up to 17,580 listings. That's 64% above the long-term average for March. It seems like there's an exodus of sorts playing out, with metros like Seattle and Spokane spiking on supply. Home values have already started declining in Washington, and they might drop by a lot in the next year, due to this inventory deluge. Check the situation in your ZIP at reventure.app/mobile.
