GrapheneOS

GrapheneOS will remain usable by anyone around the world without requiring personal information, identification or an account. GrapheneOS and our services will remain available internationally. If GrapheneOS devices can't be sold in a region due to their regulations, so be it.

@CaptWrecked @AutismCapital Touch keyboards make it easy. On Windows, use ALT+0151 (numpad numbers). On a Linux distro, you use [Compose]---. Because US QWERTY KBs typically don't have a Compose key, distros may have an option to set a macro. I use RAlt+RSuper (the Windows keys are Super keys).

It can always get worse, Anon. Heed these warnings. Resist as much as possible. This is bipartisan. Everyone deserves their right to privacy. Whether you want to say F ICE or call your homie a homo online — whatever side you’re on, you must fight this. Pay attention.

Discord announced yesterday that they’re delaying their mandatory ID verification until they can find “better solutions and more reliable partners.” This may seem like a win, but it’s merely a delay. There is something bigger going on here. Right now individual apps and websites are being mandated to require forced ID verification by government entities. As we’ve mentioned before this is under the guise of national security and child protection, but it is actually for the purpose of mass surveillance and mass censorship, especially as we are heading into both turbulent and unknown economic future. It’s worth stressing the economic portion. As the dollar loses its dominance, as AI upends our entire way of life, we’re headed into a chaotic unknown. And within chaotic unknowns opportunities for shifts and power become available. It’s like the Game of Thrones quote, “chaos is a ladder.” In order to maintain some control and prevent power shifts, the current powers want complete control over information flow, and the ability to modify it. That’s where ID verification comes in. It allows you to be able to be deplatformed, dehumaned, bullied, threatened, and in some cases killed, if you challenge the power structures. So right now the current governments are experimenting with ID verification at the app/website layer, like Discord, but that’s not the end game. That type of verification is very easily gameable. You can get around it. Whether you use a VPN, or a fake face, or whatever, it’s possible to skirt it. That’s why app layer verification isn’t the end stage. The next stage is verification at the OS level. This means that the OS has your full identity and everything you do within that OS is tracked. This means they don’t need to worry about app layer verification, you’re already tracked. Now even THIS is possible to be gamed with things like GrapheneOS, which means that even THIS isn’t the final goal. Level beyond this is verification at the ISP level. This means it doesn’t even matter what OS you use, to access the internet PERIOD you will need to fully identify. No GrapheneOS nor Tor will save you. Now, why does all of this matter? Who cares if you have nothing to hide, right? Wrong. What may be safe to say today, may not be safe tomorrow. You don’t know who you’ll be in the future. You don’t know who you piss off in the future. You don’t know what you don’t know. The right to privacy is inherent for humans. It’s what allows people to speak freely and feel safe. It’s the vital blood of society. When we lose this, nobody will speak. Your voice will be silenced permanently. Nobody will want to take the risk and in extreme cases die. It’s worth restating that we’re headed into a completely unknown economic future. Things are going to get very strange. And when people get scared, they try to control. You want to have privacy in this type of world. So if the app layer, the OS layer, and the Internet itself, are all compromised, what is left? And that’s the real question. Maybe it’s time to leave the Internet? Maybe the new Internet is offline. Something to consider.

Do you notice the difference between 30fps & 60fps?? 60 fps does look smoother, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t understand people that that say 30fps is a dealbreaker.

@rainigma @PHOTONQ2 @ProtonDrive @Jundertag SBOM and attestations are nice and all, but (w/o manual verification via SigStore tools) the end user will be left with a "trust me bro" feeling. As a hobbyist, this has been a pain point over the years.

CsWin32's configuration to explicitly NOT generate a symbol did not work for the conflicting Type. Luckily, Meziantou.PolyFill's config to do the same thing did work. Conflict resolved :D

.NET builds get messy when you're dealing with multiple source generators. I'm using Meziantou.Polyfill and Microsoft.CsWin32. They're both generating Attribute-derived classes with the same names, causing build errors. CsWin32 generating symbols in the System namespace is weird.

This is some Concept Art for the Brutes of Halo Infinite. I always wondered what the goal of projects like these were. Obviously this isnt the direction they were going to go in but the texture, drawing style and strange, abstract look is really interesting.

@richardslamfist @RejectedShotgun There were two versions the Halo 2 Editing Kit. One was the one Bungie used; ass intact. The other had the ass removed. Guess which one Hired Gun accidentally shipped for consumers.

@RejectedShotgun Wasn't Microsoft mad that the halo 2 pc port had a .jpg of one of the devs asses that would pop up if you had an .ass error? I vaguely remember hearing somehting like this in my halo.bungie.org days

Daily reminder that Bungie made every Halo level a .ASS file and every object you put inside the .ASS is known as a poop. This is hard-coded, you cannot change it.

@natatthat @TheRealQuenny For the present, yes. But it depends on the PPI and viewing distance. That's why VR needs a > ~90Hz and why Apple branded Retina displays. Some people can discern motion artifacts at nearly 40KHz. youtu.be/Sb_7uN7sfTw

@Kashiiera Correction: Unreal Version Control is just a wrapper for Perforce or SVN.

@Kashiiera There are other version control software that are good/better for this (e.g. Perforce P4 (Helix Core), Unity Version Control, Unreal Source Control), but you'll struggle to find a convenient repo host for them. I think a janky solution with Amazon's S3 Buckets would be possible.

@Kashiiera It is what it is. Converting them to text with repeating patterns would be even easier for Git to compress, but I don't know of anything that can losslessly convert WAV/PCM and BMP data to and from text while also being very compressible.

@trucku_kun @BrodieOnLinux EQ sounds identical to Windows to me, but I do have it running through an old Astro mixamp for its particular Dolby Digital Headphones. That's USB audio. No cracking there. I have a PW script to connect the mixamp's LoopOut input device to my USB wireless headphones.
