ቀዳማይ ፈስቲቫል ፊልም ኣስመራ ብኮሚሽን ባህልን ስፖርትን ኤርትራ ዝተወደበ፡ ቀዳማይ ፈስቲቫል ፊልም ኣስመራ፡ ኣብ ዝተፈላለዩ ሲነማታት ብዝቐርብ ምርኢታት ፊልምን ሰሚናራትን ብውዕዉዕ መንፈስ ኣብ ምክያድ ይርከብ። እዚ ካብ 21 – 29 መጋቢት 2026 ኣብ ኣስመራ፡ “ንትንሳኤ ጥበብ ፊልም ኤርትራ” ኣብ ትሕቲ ዝብል ቴማ ዝካየድ ዘሎ ቦኽሪ ፈስቲቫል ፊልም፡ ንምፍራይ ፊልም ኤርትራ ዝያዳ ንምብርባሩ ዝዓለመ ኮይኑ፡ ሞያውያንን ክኢላታትን ናይ’ቲ ዓውዲ ብዛዕባ ብድሆታትን ዕድላትን ናይዚ ዓውዲ ክዛተዩን ክግምግሙን ዘኽእል መድረኻት ዝሓቘፈ እዩ። ብዘይካ’ዚ ኣብ ዝሓለፉ 30 ዓመታት ካብ ዝፈረዩ ፊልምታት ኤርትራ ዝተሓረዩ’ውን ኣብ ዝተፈላለዩ ሲነማታት ናብ ተዓዘብቲ ኣብ ምቕራብ ይርከብ። ኣብ’ቲ ብቀዳም 21 መጋቢት፡ ኣብ ሲነማ ሮማ ኣብ ሰዓታት ድሕሪ ቐትሪ ዝተኻየደ ወግዓዊ መኽፈቲ፡ ዕድመ ዝተገበረሎም ሓለፍቲ መንግስቲን ግንባርን፡ ብርክት ዝበሉ ሰራሕቲ ፊልምን ካልኦት ዕዱማትን ዝተሳተፍዎ ክኸውን እንከሎ፡ ነቲ ፈስቲቫል ኮሚሽነር ባህልን ስፖርትን ኤርትራ ኣምባሳደር ዘመደ ተኽለ ብወግዒ ከፊትዎ። ኣቦ መንበር ናይ’ዚ ፈስቲቫል ዝዀነ ኣቶ ሞሃድ ሱሌማን ኣብ ዘስመዖ ቃል፡ “እቲ ፈስቲቫል ክልተ ዓበይቲን ተመላላእትን ንጥፈታት ከካይድ እዩ። ኣብ ቀዳማይ ንጥፈት ሃገራዊ፡ ማሕበራዊ፡ ትምህርታውን ፍቕራውን ትሕዝቶ ዘለዎ ልዕሊ 50 ፊልምታት ኣብ ሲነማ ሮማ፡ ኢምፐሮ፡ ኣዝመራን ሓማሴንን ናብ ህዝቢ ከቕርብ’ዩ። እቲ ካልኣይ ንጥፈት ከኣ፡ ፍልጠትን መረዳእታን ክብ ዘብል ኣብ ኣርባዕተ ዓበይቲ ዛዕባታት - ታሪኽ ፊልም ኤርትራ፡ ዓለማዊ ኢንዱስትሪ ፊልም፡ ኩነታት ኢንዱስትሪ ፊልምና እንታይ ይመስል፡ ንመጻኢ እንታይ ክኸውን ይግባእ - ዘተኩሩ 13 መጽናዕታዊ ወረቓቕቲ ብክኢላታት ክቐርብ’ዩ፡” ኢሉ። ንሱ ኣስዒቡ፡ እቲ ተዳልዩ ዘሎ ምርኢት ፊልም፡ ኣብ ኣዘንታውን ሓጺርን ፊልም ዘተኩር ከም ዝዀነን፡ ካብ ብሒትና ብሞባይልን ቴለቪዥንን ምርኣይ ኣውጽእ ኣቢሉ፡ ኣብ ዓቢ ስክሪን ምስ ብዙሓት ተዓዘብቲ ብምዃን ክንከታተል ከኽእለና’ዩ ኢሉ። ንሱ ኣብ መወዳእታ፡ ነቲ መደብ ኣብ ምዕዋት ንዝተሳተፉ ኣባላት ኮሚተ፡ ትካላትን ደገፍቲ ውልቀሰባትን ኣመስጊኑ። ስዒቡ ቃል ዘስመዐ ኮሚሽነር ባህልን ስፖርትን ኤርትራ ኣምባሳደር ዘመደ ተኽለ ብወገኑ፡ ንኣበጋግሳን ትሕዝቶን ናይ’ቲ ፈስቲቫል ድሕሪ ምብራህ፡ እቲ ዝካየድ ዘሎ ፈስቲቫል ፊልም ከም ፈላሚ መደብ ኣድላዪ ተመኵሮ ኣብ ምድላብ ልዑል ግደ ክህልዎ ምዃኑ ድሕሪ ምብራህ፡ ኣብ ቀጻሊ እቲ ፈስቲቫል ብትሕዝቶኡን ዓይነቱን ዝያዳ ዝዓምቈሉን በብእዋኑ ከኣ ናብ ሃገራውን ኣህጉራውን ደረጃታት ዝዓብየሉን ተበግሶታት ከም ዝውሰድ ኣብሪሁ። “ፊልም ከም ኣካል ስነ ጥበብ፡ ባህላዊ ንቕሓት ሕብረተሰብ ንኽስስን ዝጻወቶ ተራ ዓቢ እዩ። ታሪኽ ሃገርካ ንምፍላጥ፡ ብመንነት ንምኹራዕ፡ ሓድነት ህዝብኻ ንምድልዳል፡ ኣብ ሓጺር ሰዓታት ከተንብቦን ክትዘናግዓሉን እትኽእል መጽሓፍ’ዩ ከበሃል ይከኣል፡” ዝበለ ኣምባሳደር ዘመደ፡ ካብ’ቲ ንምመያ ዝቐረበ 210 ፊልምታት፡ ልዕሊ 50 ፊልምታት ንምርኢት ከም ዝተሓረየን፡ ብነፍሲ ወከፍ ቋንቋታት ሃገርና ዝተሰርሐ ፊልምታት ዝሓቘፈን ምዃኑ ኣገንዚቡ። ንሱ ኣብ መደምደምታ፡ ኣብ’ዚ ዓውዲ ዝጽበየና ዘሎ ዕማም ገዚፍ ከም ዝዀነ ብምግላጽ፡ ነዚ ዓውዲ ይኹን ንኻልኦት መዳያት ባህሊ ህዝብና ንምዕባይ ምሉእ ድሌት ከም ዘሎ እንተዀነ፡ ብቐሊሉን ብጽቡቕ ድሌትን ጥራይ ስለ ዘይዓቢ፡ ብግዜን ብቀጻሊ ስራሕን ክንጽዕረሉ ይግባእ ድሕሪ ምባል፡ “ብድሆታት እናሰገርካ፡ ዝተጠርየ ተመኩሮ እናዋህለልካ ዝኽየድ እዩ። ብኩሉ ቋንቋታትን ብዓይነትን ብዝሕን ዝፈርየሉን ዝቐርበሉን ክኸውን፡ ልዕሊ ኩሉ ንትጽቢት ተዓዘብቲ ዘርውዩ ክኾኑ ኢደይ ኢድካ ምባል ኣገዳሲ እዩ፡ ” ኢሉ። ብድሕሪ እዚ መኽፈቲ መደረታት፡ ብኣወሃሃዲ ሙዚቃ መምህር መሓመድሳልሕ ሑሴን ዝተዳለወ ሙዚቃዊ ምርኢት’ዩ ቀሪቡ። እዚ ሙዚቃዊ ምርኢት፡ ብገጣሚ መለስ ንጉሰ ተገጢማ ብመሓመድሳልሕ ሑሴን ዝተዘየመትን፡ ብድምጻዊት ዩስራ መሓመድ ሳልሕ ዝተደርፈት ‘ውህደት ኩሉ ጥበባት’ ዘርእስታ ደርፊን ከምኡ ድማ ብያታዊን ዘመናዊን መሳርሒታት ሙዚቃ፡ ዳግም ዝተቐናበረትን ዝተደርሰትን ሙዚቃዊት ደርፊ ‘ሚለኑ’ እያ። እዘን መሰጥቲ ምርኢታት፡ ብዝተፈላለዩ ሙዚቀኛታት ዝተሰነያ እየን ነይረን። ብድሕሪ’ዚ ዝቐረበት ሓጻር ፊልም ቋንቋ ዓፈር “ምስጢር ምድረበዳ” እያ። እዛ ፊልም ብጉጅለ ፈለግ ዝተዓየየት ኰይና፡ ብርክት ዝበሉ ገዳይም ሰራሕቲ ፊልም ዘሳተፈት እያ። እዛ ሓጻር ፊልም ኣብ እዋን ቃልሲ፡ ብሰራዊት ኢትዮጵያ ዝተፈጸመ ግፍዒታት ኣብ ልዕሊ ህዝቢን፡ ካብ’ቲ ግፍዒ ዘምለጡ ኣቦን ጓልን ነቶም ዝረኸቡዎም ኣጋፋዕቲ ሰራዊት ምስጢር ናይ ማይ ኣሕሊፎም ንዘይምሃብ ዝኸፈልዎ ዋጋን እተርኢ ተንካፊት ፊልም’ያ ነይራ። እዚ ምርኢታት ንስምዒት ተሳተፍቲ ዝተንከፈ እዩ ነይሩ። ድሕሪ ወግዓዊ ምርኢታት፡ በቲ ዝወጸ መደባት መሰረት ኣብ ሰንበትን ሰኑይን ኣብ 4 ሲነማታት ማለት - ሲነማ ሮማ፡ ሲነማ ኣዝመራ፡ ሲነማ ኢምፐሮን ሲነማ ሓማሴንን 15 ፊልምታት ንምርኢት ቀሪቡ። ነዚ ምርኢት፡ ዕድመ ዝተገብረሎም ወከልቲ ህዝቢ፡ ተመሃሮን ኣፍቀርቲ ፊልምን ተዓዚቦሞ። ብዘይካ’ዚ፡ ትማሊ ሰኑይ ኣብ ሰዓታት ቅድሚ ቀትሪ፡ ኣብ ኣዳራሽ ሃ.ኮ.ሰ.ኤ ንታሪኽ ፊልም ኤርትራ ዝድህስሱ 3 ወረቓቕቲ ቀሪቦም። እቲ ሰሚናር ልዕሊ 250 ግዱሳትን ሰራሕቲ ፊልምን ዝተሳተፉሉ እዩ ነይሩ። መጀመርታ ወረቐቱ ዘቕረበ ስነ ጥበበኛን መምህር ስነ ጥበብን ኣቶ ኤፍሬም ካሕሳይ (ወዲ ኳዳ) ክኸውን እንከሎ፡ “ታሪኽ ፊልም ካብ እዋን መግዛእቲ ጣልያን ክሳብ መግዛእቲ ሃይለስላሰ” ዝዳህሰሰ እዩ ነይሩ። ንሱ ብቐንዱ ኤርትራውያን ብኸመይ ኣገባብ ምስ ምዕዛብ ፊልምን ባህሊ ሲነማን ከም ዝተላለዩን ከመይ ኣቢሎም ኣብ ምፍራይ ፊልም ክሳተፉ ከም ዝጀመሩን ዘብርህ ዝርዝራዊ ሓበሬታታት’ዩ ኣቕሪቡ። ብመሰረት ዘቕረቦ ወረቐት፡ ንፈለማ እዋን ምርኢት ፊልም 1922 ብሚስዮናውያን ኣቕሽሽቲ ማሕበር ካፑቺኖ ከም ዝጀመረን መንፈሳዊ ትሕዝቶ ከም ዝነበሮን ገሊጹ። ኣብ 1930ታት ኢጣልያውያን ብስፍሓት ፊልም ዘፍርዩሉን ኣብ ብራኸ ዝበጽሑሉን እዋን ከም ዝነበረን፡ መግዛእቲ ጣልያን ከኣ ብመንገዲ እዞም ፊልምታት ኣቢሉ ስነ ሓሳቡን ልዕልናኡን ንምስራጽ ይሰርሕ ከም ዝነበረ ገሊጹ። ሓያል መሳርሒ ንምንብርካኽ ኤርትራውያን ገይሩ ክጥቀመሉ ይጽዕር ምንባሩ’ውን ኣብሪሁ። ኣብ’ቲ እዋን ብርክት ዝበላ ሲነማታት ከም ዝተሃነጻን፡ ንኢጣልያውያንን ንደቀባትን ዘርእያ ሲነማታት ፍልልይ ከም ዝነበረንን ድሕሪ ምግላጽ፡ ኣብ’ቲ ናይ ዜጋታት ኢጣልያን ካልኦት ወጻእተኛታትን ዝርእዩሉ ሲነማታት ደቂ ሃገር ክርእዩ ይፍቀዶም ከም ዘይነበረን እንተተፈቒድዎም ከኣ፡ ኣብ ፍሉይ ቦታ ደው ኢሎም ክርእዩ ይግደዱ ምንባሮም ኣረዲኡ። ኣብ እዋን መግዛእቲ ጣልያን ኤርትራውያን ከም ተሓጋገዝቲን ዓጀብቲን ኰይኖም ኣብ ዕዮ ፊልም ይነጥፉ ከም ዝነበሩ፡ ኣብ እዋን መግዛእቲ እንግሊዝ ግን ንመጀመርታ እዋን ኣብ 1954 “Eva Nera” (ጸላም ሄዋን) ኣብ ዘርእስታ ፊልም፡ ወናኒት ባር ትብለጽ ተስፋሚካኤል ዝነበረት፡ ብምውሳእ ቀዳመይቲ ተዋሳኢት ምዃነን ኣረዲኡ። ኣብ እዋን መግዛእቲ ሃይለስላሰ ከኣ፡ ዘውዲ ኣርኣያ ኣብ 1969 ኣብ ውድድር ቁንጅና ኤክስፖ፡ ንዓዲ ጣልያን መኸዲን መምለስን ትኬት ተሸሊማ። ኣብኡ ተመርዕያ ኣብ ንጥፈታት ፊልም ክትዋሳእ’ውን ጀሚራ። ልዑል ተፈላጥነትን ክእለትን ዘርኣየት ተዋሳኢት ምንባራ’ውን ብዝርዝር ገሊጹ። ንሱ ቀጺሉ ብምሉእ ናይ ኤርትራውያን ጻዕሪ ዝተፈተነ ናይ መጀመርታ ፊልም ኣብ እዋን መግዛእቲ ሃጸይ ሃይለስላሰ ከም ዝነበረት፡ ኣብርሃም ሳህለን ኣማኑኤል ሳህለን ዝተበሃሉ ኣሕዋት፡ ምሉእ ድርሰት ብምድላው፡ ብምስኣልን ብምእላይን ነዚ ፈተነ ከም ዘካየድዎ ኣብሪሁ። እታ ፊልም Running Money ዝብል ኣርእስቲ ዝሓዘት ክትከውን እንከላ፡ ኣለም ግደ ብዝተበሃለ መራሒ ጠባይ ዝተዓየየትን መሳጢ ድሕረ ባይታ ዝሓዘት ምንባራን ገሊጹ። ንሱ ወረቐቱ ድሕሪ ምዝዛሙ፡ ካብ ተዓዘብቲ ዝተፈላለየ ርእይቶታት ቀሪቡሉ። ብፍላይኳ ኣባል ሃገራዊ ቤተ መዘክር ስነ ጥበበኛ ሃይለ በርሀ፡ ንባህሊ ሲነማ፡ ተሳትፎ ኤርትራውያን ኣብቲ መድረኽ፡ ምርኢታት ፊልም ኣብ ዝተፈላለዩ ሲነማታት ኤርትራን ካልእን ዝገልጽ ኣገዳሲ መብርሂን መመላእታን ሂቡ። ስዒቡ ዝቐረበ መጽናዕታዊ ወረቓቕቲ፡ “ፊልም ኣብ ግዜ ብረታዊ ቃልሲ ህዝቢ ኤርትራ” ኣብ ትሕቲ ዝብል ኣርእስቲ ኰይኑ፡ ብኣባል ጨንፈር ስእሊ ዝነበረት ሰኣሊት፡ ደራሲትን ተርጓሚትን ሩት ስምኦን ዝቐረበ እዩ ነይሩ። ንሳ ካብ እዋን ምጅማር ብረታዊ ቃልሲ ኣትሒዙ ዝተፈላለዩ ተበግሶታትን ኣወዳድባታትን ምስናድ ቃልሲ ከም ዝነበረ ድሕሪ ምግላጽ፡ ኣብ ፈለማ መድረኻት ኣብ ተጋድሎ ሓርነት ኤርትራ ዋላ’ኳ ውዱብ ኣሰናንዳ እንተዘይነበረ፡ ተጋደልቲ ውልቃዊ ንብረት ክውንኑ ይፍቀዶም ስለ ዝነበሩ ካሜራታት ዝነበሮም ውልቀ ተጋደልቲን ንጥፈታት ቃልሲ ክስንዱ ዝመጽኡ ዝነበሩ ወጻእተኛታትን ጻዕሪታት የካይዱ ከም ዝነበሩ ሓቢራ። ዋላ’ኳ ዝርዝራዊ ሓበሬታ ኣይትርከብ፡ ብተጋድሎ ሓርነት ኤርትራ ዝተሰነዱ 14 ስነዳዊ ፊልምታት ከም ዝተረኽቡን፡ ዝተሰነዱሉ ኣገባብ ኣብ ምጽናዕ ከም ዘላን ጠቒሳ። ኣብ ህዝባዊ ሓይልታት ዝነበረ ናይ ስነዳ መንገዲታት ግን ውዱብን ብጨንፈር ስእሊ ዝምራሕን ምንባሩ ገሊጻ። ድሒሩ’ውን ብፍሉይ ኣተኩሮኡ ኣብ ምድላው ስነዳዊ ፊልምታትን ምርኢት ፊልምታት ንተጋደልቲን ህዝብን ዝገበረ ኣሃዱ ሲነማ ከም ዝቘመ ብዝርዝር ገሊጻ። ሂላል ብዝብል ቅጽል ብዝፍለጥ ፈረንሳዊ ሰኣሊ እናተመርሐት ኣብ 1975 ዝተዳለወት ስነዳዊት ፊልም “ደጀንና” ከኣ እታ ቀዳመይቲ ሰነዳዊት ፊልም ምዃና ገሊጻ። እዛ ፊልም ብ16 ሚሜ ዝቐረበት ኰይና፡ ድምጺ ዘይብላ ብምንባራ ኣብ እዋን ምርኢታት፡ ብማይክሮፎን መግለጺ እናተገበረላ ናብ ተዓዘብቲ ትቐርብ ምንባራ ገሊጻ። ኣብ’ቲ እዋን - ሰውራና፡ ኣዳራሽና፡ ደጀንና፡ ባና ሓርነት፡ ህጻናት ኤርትራ፡ ደቂ ኣንስትዮ ኤርትራ ዝብላን ካልኦት ስነዳዊ ፊልምታትን ከም ዝተዳለዋ ገሊጻ። እዚ ኣሃዱ ካብ ምስናድ ሰውራ ኤርትራ ሓሊፉ’ውን ንቃልሲን ንጥፈታትን ህዝባዊ ወያነ ሓርነት ትግራይ ኣብ ምስናድ ይደጋገፍ ከም ዝነበረን፡ ድሒሩ’ውን ስልጠናታት ኣብ ምሃብ ከም ዝሰርሐን ብስእላዊ መግለጺታት ኣሰንያ ኣቕሪባ። ንዝኽሪ ስዉኣት ሰኣልቲ ከኣ፡ ናይ ሕልና ዝኽሪ ተኻዪዱ። እቲ መጽናዕታዊ ወረቐት ኣዝዩ ሰፊሕ ብምንባሩ፡ ኣቕረብቲ ርእይቶ “ታሪኽ ፊልምን ስእልን ብረታዊ ቃልሲ ኤርትራ” ኣብ ትሕቲ ዝብል ኣርእስቲ ብመልክዕ መጽሓፍ ክዳሎ ተላብዮም። ኣብ መወዳእታ መጽናዕታዊ ወረቐቱ ዘቕረበ ጋዜጠኛ ተስፋኣለም ገብረስላሰ (ጫረ) ኮይኑ፡ “ታሪኽ ፊልም ኤርትራ፡ ድሕሪ ናጽነት 1991 – 2025” ዝድህስስ እዩ ነይሩ። ንሱ ንድሕረ ባይታ ምትእትታው ፊልም ኣብ ኤርትራ ከም መበገሲ ብምጥቃም፡ ድሕሪ ናጽነት ኣብ ፈለማ ዓመታት ዝተፈላለዩ ፈተነታት ምድላው ፊልምታትን ቪድዮ ድራማታትን ከም ዝነበረ ብዝርዝር ገሊጹ። እዚ ጻዕርታት ከኣ ተመኩሮን ተገዳስነትን እናወሰኸ ኣብ 1997 ንፈለማ እዋን ካብ መጽሓፍ “ደሓን ኩኒ እንዳ ኣፍራስ” ዝረዓመት ፊልም “ባሩድ 77” ተዳልያ ናብ ምርኢት ከም ዝቐረበት ገሊጹ። ኣብ’ቲ ዓመት “ፍቕርን ኲናትን” ዘርእስታ ፊልም ከም ዝቐረበት’ውን ገሊጹ። ንሱ ኣስዒቡ ብስፍሓት ምፍራይ ፊልም ንዝነበረሉ ዓመታት ካብ ፈለማ 2001 ክሳብ 2008 ከም ወርቃዊ እዋን ብምግላጽ፡ ከም ፊልምታት ሚኒስተር ኣብ ምብራኽ ምፍራይ ፊልም ኤርትራ ዝነበረን ተራ ገሊጹ። ንሱ ዝርዝራዊ ዝፈርያን ናብ ምርኢት ዝቐርባን ዝነበራ ፊልምታት፡ ኩነታት ምወላአን፡ ዝነበረን ብልጫታትን ድኻማትን ዘርዚሩ። በብእዋኑ ክቀላቐላ ዝጀመራ ስቱድዮታት፡ ዝወሃብ ዝነበረ ስልጠናታት፡ ሽልማታትን ዝገለጸ ጋዜጠኛ ተስፋኣለም፡ ድሒሩ ፊልምታት ካብ ሲነማታት ዝረሓቑሉ መድረኻትን እዋናዊ ዲጂታላዊ ምፍራይ ፊልምን ዘለዎ ብድሆታትን ብስፍሓት ተንቲኑ። ተኸታተልቲ ናይ’ቲ ሰሚናራት’ውን ኣገዳሲ ርእይቶታት ኣቕሪቦም። ቀዳማይ ፈስቲቫል ፊልም ኣስመራ፡ ክሳብ 28 መጋቢት ዝተፈላለዩ መጽናዕታዊ ወረቓቕቲን ምርኢት ፊልምታትን ከቕርብ’ዩ። #Eritrea ዘርእሰናይ ዓንደብርሃን

At the invitation of the Minister of Agriculture, the United Nations Resident Coordinator, FAO Representative, and UNDP Deputy Representative in #Eritrea toured the Integrated Organic Agrotech Solutions (IOAS) Center at the Akria Site in Asmara. Initiated by the Eritrea Ministry of Agriculture and supported by a UNDP funded capacity-building visit to Benin's Songhai Center. The Ministry of Agriculture IOAS center was established in 2025 across 3 hectares, the center focuses on compost production and dairy cow/goat farming. When Propaganda Fails, The Truth Speaks From Assab. How much the regime currently ruling Ethiopia has deteriorated can be clearly seen from this. Because of that, on official state media (ETV), they are now airing programs trying to convince people that Assab belongs to Ethiopia. I once heard a foolish argument saying, “Our president studied in Assab. Therefore, Assab is ours.” What is happening now is similar, but even worse. Now someone says: “My father lived in Assab, and I was born in Assab,” and uses that as proof that Assab belongs to Ethiopia. After watching the video where this person claims “my father was a trader in Assab and owned houses there,” I asked two elderly long-time residents of Assab. Here is their response: First elder: “Is the ‘father’ she is talking about the man called Fantaw Weyra?” Second elder: “Yes, don’t you hear? She is saying Fantaw Adem.” First elder: “This person she is calling ‘my father’ was someone we used to call Fantaw Weyra. ‘Weyra’ means firewood. He used to walk around selling firewood and wood for charcoal, and also mosob baskets he brought from Kombolcha. He went from house to house selling them. Just because he used to enter every house saying ‘firewood, firewood,’ maybe he later told his children those houses were his. In reality, Fantaw Weyra didn’t even have a shelter. He used to spend the day wherever he found a place and at night sleep around the Adi-Nfas area beside old vehicles,” they told me. As if IGAD is a legitimate institution. I mean seriously, IGAD is being led by known cadre of the EPRDF and now PP regime in Ethiopia. It got so ridiculous that member states have begun exiting the platform. I am not going to even begin with AU. These institutions need a serous reform and either officially announce their handlers from other major continents as official decision makers or stop being led by strings of 'observers' and 'non voting members' of other nations. Just rip the band aid, and let Africans know what to expect don't dizzy us with the sparkly "African solutions to African problems" joke while full well knowing that these institutions do not have the leverage to enforce any of the 'solutions' they bring forward. To be honest, it is not pretty but at least the current @AsstSecStateAF is brutally candid with what they expect and what they want out of any interaction with Africa, like they literally named it "America First in Africa", when things are laid bare like this you can honestly broker what you want given the understanding of the limitation you have in terms of power and resources as an African nation, still you won't be bamboozled into thinking your institutions are working for you.

In a world where dependency is rewarded and sovereignty is treated as a negotiable commodity, Eritrea’s refusal to bend became its greatest offense. And so, for years, Washington’s Africa policy treated Eritrea as a problem to be managed rather than a nation to be understood. But Eritreans have always had a simple, unambiguous message for the world:

A new emphasis on trade, investment, and sovereignty. The question for Eritrea is not whether the rhetoric sounds good, it does. The question is whether the United States, a country with a long history of promising resets, is finally prepared to match its words with action. Eritrea has heard every speech. What it has not seen is consistency. Nick Checker, the Senior Bureau Official for African Affairs, recently declared that the United States is “resetting its relationship with Africa based on mutually beneficial partnerships rather than aid, dependency, and spreading divisive ideology.” It is a striking admission not only of what Washington wants to become, but of what it has been. For decades, U.S. policy in Africa has been shaped by aid dependency, political conditionality, punitive diplomacy, selective engagement, and geopolitical anxiety about China. The new rhetoric suggests a shift toward trade over aid, investment over assistance, sovereignty over interference, and pragmatism over ideology. This is not a small adjustment. It is a philosophical reversal. But Eritrea has learned to treat American rhetoric the way a seasoned sailor treats the wind: useful, but unpredictable. For decades, Africa has been trapped in a donor‑recipient framework that has produced neither prosperity nor autonomy. Aid has kept governments afloat but has rarely built institutions. It has alleviated symptoms but entrenched dependency. The United States now claims it wants to break this cycle. If true, it is long overdue. True partnership requires capacity building, technology transfer, market access, infrastructure investment, and respect for sovereignty. It requires treating African nations as equal stakeholders, not as laboratories for ideological experiments. Last Sunday’s career fair at ECCC was truly impressive. I was inspired by the knowledge, professionalism, and dedication of Eritrean-American professionals. Many elementary, high school, and college students attended with their families, and the turnout was overwhelming. This was their second event, and even more careers were represented including mechanics, aviation experts, IT professionals, pilots, mechanical engineers, dentists, doctors, financial aid advisor, and many others. The goal is clear: to motivate the new generation, especially students, by allowing them to see real examples and begin planning their futures accordingly. These kinds of interactions help young people visualize their path and believe in what is possible. #Eritrea
