I applaud the passage of @RepMikeLawler's bill to sanction Iran and support President Trump’s maximum pressure policy. @DanSullivan_AK and I are working to pass this legislation through the Senate. Now more than ever we need to deny the terrorist regime in Tehran from the money it uses to target Americans.

Iran’s drone technology and ballistic missile program have posed a threat for years, these are the same drones they’ve been supplying to Russia in the war in Ukraine. That’s why the administration is working with Israel to aggressively eliminate the threat posed by this radical regime.

For nearly fifty years, the Iranian regime has called America the “Great Satan.” Its ballistic missile and drone programs, nuclear ambitions, and terrorist proxies pose a clear and persistent threat to the to the safety, security, and freedoms that our nation stands for. Voting to reaffirm Iran’s status as the world’s leading state sponsor of terror was plain commonsense.

The Sudanese Muslim Brotherhood, trained and supported by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, has been designated by @StateDept as a Foreign Terrorist Organization and Specially Designated Global Terrorist for mass executions of civilians. We will continue to use all available tools to deprive the Iranian regime and Muslim Brotherhood chapters of the resources they need to engage in or support terrorism.

The War Powers Resolution is outrageous. President Trump clearly has the authority to carryout Operation Epic Fury. Trump promised that Iran would never get a nuclear weapon. Our President is making good on that promise and eliminating the largest state sponsor of terrorism that has killed thousands of Americans since 1979.

Iran has been at war with the United States for 47 years and has the blood of thousands of American soldiers and citizens on its hands. This is an opportunity for the Iranian people to live in freedom. It is not risk-free, and it is not guaranteed. But it is a chance to change geopolitics for the better. I support @POTUS in making this tough decision.
