U.S. defense needs in Latin America have long been overlooked. The @SASCGOP NDAA under @SenatorWicker includes several important provisions on the region, including an Americas Defense Initiative and reporting on the natsec threat from Cuba. More in my new @RCDefense oped.

If your “solution” to the S-400 crisis is simply changing the shipping address, you’re solving 🇹🇷 political headache—not 🇺🇸security dilemma. Congress should reject any backdoor attempt to revive the F-35 deal through a Gulf transfer. My latest for @FDD w/@FDDAction colleague @Ty_D_Stapleton fdd.org/analysis/2026/…

Today, America lost a great statesman and true patriot, a man who devoted his life to serving our nation—first in uniform, then in Congress. For decades, Senator Graham has fought tirelessly to protect the American people from threats at home and abroad. In recent weeks, he continued that vital work with uncommon vigor and dedication, even as he warned of the perils of isolationism and the need for American strength. We are thankful for his principled leadership and honored to be associated with his foreign policy legacy. The United States is safer, stronger, and more prosperous today because of Senator Graham. May he rest in peace.

A lot to unpack here. A sale to UAE or Qatar would risk US operations in those countries especially with the Combined Air Operations Center in Qatar. The cost of the system would be between 1-1.25 Billion. The acquisition would also require a review of QME for Israel and a review of whether CAATSA sanctions would apply.

The Chavista regime’s earthquake response demonstrates why Venezuela cannot recover under its current leadership. I write @WSJopinion how the US can flex its leverage so the same corrupt regime that built the collapsed buildings doesn’t profit from the country’s reconstruction.

President Trump’s @USTreasury just killed Iran’s oil waiver (GL X) and replaced it with GL X1; a classic “revocation + short fuse wind‑down” move on Iran oil and petrochemicals. Effective July 7, 2026, all new production, purchases, or loading of Iranian crude, petroleum products, and petrochemicals under GL X stop cold. Only winding down under existing GL X (which is say is probably zero) deals are allowed, and only through July 17, 2026. Critically, any payment to during this period must go into a blocked, interest‑bearing U.S. account — tightening financial pressure and keeping Iranian proceeds inside the U.S. blocking perimeter. In practice: Trump’s brief, sweeping GL X “Iran oil relief” is over; what remains is a narrow, time‑bound off‑ramp with escrow‑like treatment via blocked U.S. accounts — a significant policy pivot back toward maximum pressure architecture. ofac.treasury.gov/media/936446/d…

Any decision to sell & transfer F-35's to 🇹🇷 is a big mistake The 🇺🇸 sold F-14s to Iran prior to the Islamic Republic taking power Why would US consider selling F-35's when TR has deep ties to Russia and terrorist entities? I discuss w/@Nicole_Zedeck for @i24NEWS_EN & @FDD

The Administration's push to sell F-35 fighter aircraft to Turkey raises significant national security concerns. While Turkey is a NATO ally, President Erdogan has repeatedly taken actions that call into question the country's reliability as a strategic partner. That's why Congress legally prohibited the transfer of F35s to Turkey in the first place. Given Turkey’s continued posture toward our allies both in Europe and the Middle East, I remain deeply opposed to the sale of one of America’s most advanced military platforms to Turkey and do not believe it is in the best interests of the United States.

By passing this resolution, Congress would undermine a sensitive agreement and signal to Hezbollah, as well as its sponsor Iran, that we are not really invested in peace between Israel and Lebanon. As Iran and Hezbollah calculate whether to start a full-scale war against the state of Lebanon, American resolve is a core factor in their decision making. To my colleagues: I urge you to vote against this unprecedented and deeply irresponsible resolution.

The Cuban regime has supported left-wing movements across Latin America for decades and has documented ties with radical groups here in the US. Glad @SecRubio is targeting these networks, which is an often overlooked aspect of the Cuban threat to US national security.
Secretary Marco Rubio@SecRubio

For decades, the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the People – or “ICAP” – has been a vehicle for radical left-wing extremism and subversive foreign influence in the United States and across our hemisphere. ICAP is the Cuban regime’s premier influence and intelligence front group, exploiting its vast global network to spy on Americans, promote anti-Western propaganda, coordinate foreign influence operations, and organize revolutionary leftist movements around the world. Earlier this month, I designated ICAP and several other Cuban organizations responsible for engaging in subversive anti-American activities, pursuant to sanctions authorities created by President Trump’s Cuba Executive Order. This week, I terminated the legal status of Carlos Antonio Lloga Dominguez, a former ICAP official who maintains ties with the organization. Lloga Dominguez and his wife and son are now in federal custody pending removal from the United States. America will never become home for foreign communists who peddle propaganda, run subversive influence operations, or support radical anti-American movements within the United States. Transact with ICAP and you will be sanctioned, prosecuted or deported from our country.

We cannot ignore how China is increasing its coercive efforts to harass and isolate Taiwan's diplomats around the world. Beijing bullies countries to abide by its self-serving One China Principle. When countries like Kenya agree to these demands, they undermine their own sovereignty and longstanding international norms. apnews.com/article/kenya-…

Bad actors are smuggling billions in American advanced AI chips to China. Now, U.S. businesses are calling it out and backing the Chip Security Act (CSA) because this bill doesn’t hold America back, it makes us more competitive on the world stage. This bill closes the loopholes, secures our exports, and keeps China from winning the AI arms race. It’s time to pass the CSA. nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news…

Colombia is one of the most important U.S. partners in Latin America. @ABDELAESPRIELLA's victory offers an opportunity to revitalize this partnership. My new @dcexaminer oped on how the U.S. can help Colombia turn the tide against narco-terrorist groups and slow growth. The U.S.-Colombia relationship has atrophied under @petrogustavo, with unprecedented cocaine production, growing reach of armed groups, and a bid to increase ties with Beijing. While De La Espriella faces a narrow mandate and divided Congress, here's how the U.S. can work with him: -Support the development and implementation of a security strategy that leverages the country's capable security forces and strong institutions to turn the tide against narco-terrorist groups. -Leverage State Department and Treasury Department assistance to increase the capacity of law enforcement and Colombia's financial intelligence unit. This work is critical because dismantling these entrenched criminal networks requires tackling the illicit financial flows and gold supply chains that finance their activities. -Deploy development finance, export credit, and other tools to support projects that create economic gains in both countries. -Integrate Colombia into the Trump Admin's critical minerals initiatives, given the country's reserves of copper and other minerals. -Leverage De La Espriella's commitment to restarting oil and gas exploration after a moratorium under Petro to integrate Colombia into U.S. efforts to support energy security in the Western Hemisphere.

GL X will produce billions of dollars in new oil, petroleum product, and petrochemical revenue for the Iranian regime. That's because it contains no restrictions on how the funds will be used. If President Trump wants an escrow mechanism for Iranian oil revenue, he needs to direct Treasury to amend GL X. Treasury should also clarify whether GL X permits Iran to repatriate proceeds from previously unauthorized oil sales. For more on what the GL authorizes and where it falls short, see my latest @FDD policy brief: fdd.org/analysis/2026/…

Congress has 60 days to conduct oversight and lay down guardrails for a potential final agreement. America’s hard-won leverage from Operation Epic Fury should not be surrendered without enforceable conditions. Congressional authority over statutory sanctions is clear and must be respected throughout this process. A regime that has spent decades pursuing a nuclear weapon, financing terrorism, and murdering Americans and its own citizens does not deserve the benefit of the doubt. @FDDAction flags 6 questions lawmakers must press over the next 60 days: Read the full policy alert 👇 fddaction.org/policy-alerts/…

The US and Iran are now in a 60-day negotiating window on the MOU. Several of the MOU’s central provisions directly implicate statutory sanctions and other authorities that belong to Congress. FDD Action's new policy alert provides key considerations and questions for Congress. Over the next 60 days, lawmakers should press the administration to ensure that any deal verifiably and permanently denies the Islamic Republic any pathway to a nuclear weapons capability; keeps reconstruction, relief, and other funds out of the regime’s terror and ballistic missile apparatuses; and prevents Tehran from holding freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz hostage.
