Man Utd could technically spend £400m+ this summer if they got £95m for Garnacho + Rashford. Let me explain: Garnacho (£55m) & Rashford (£40m) are academy products, so their sales = pure profit under PSR. That’s £95m pure profit instantly boosting the books. Why does that matter? When you buy a player, the cost is amortised over their contract. E.g. Buy someone for £60m on a 5-year deal = only £12m per year on the books. So if United makes £95m in pure profit, they could (theoretically) spend up to 4–5x that — between £300m–£475m — and still comply with PSR, depending on wages and contract lengths. (Not saying we will do that, it comes with its own risks but)… If Man Utd sold the following players: •Højlund £40m •Garnacho £55m •Rashford £40m •Antony £32m •Sancho £25m •Casemiro £15m •Malacia £8m •Bayindir £6m Total income: ~£221m Players leaving on frees: • Lindelof, Eriksen, Heaton Annual wage savings from all above: ~£86.5m Summary • £221m in sales • £86.5m wage savings • £95m pure profit = PSR gold • Could open the door to £400m+ spending this summer if reinvested smartly

@AliceTalksFooty Similarly Marcus Rashford. He’s on £300k a week. To put that in context that’s more than anyone at Arsenal, anyone at Chelsea, anyone at Liverpool bar Salah. Best case you have to subsidise a move which will come off of any fee.

@AliceTalksFooty Casemiro is on £375k a week, is 33 years old and over the past couple of seasons looks it. He’ll earn more at United next year than he realistically would on any three year deal and then get to leave on a free. Why would he move? Who would pay anything for him?

@katyballs So this makes sense short term but medium term doesn't it just multiply the issue they have with the only people who support them are all going to die soon? Short term wipe out less likely, longer term complete wipe out more?

@GergelyOrosz What would be examples, in your experience, of such projects that are not practical to breakdown?

A very challenging thing in tech is shipping a long and complex project: one where it’s not trivial (or practical) to break it into small parts & ship those. It takes focus, discipline, and experience to know when things are (and are not) on track even with limited feedback.

Twitter tends left, so many on here clearly find it flatly bizarre that a Labour leader would do this. And Corbyn's biggest critics probably thought the problem already solved. But there must be research showing a key Tory-to-Lab demographic still in danger of wobbling. Right?

I'd love to see some forensic analysis of exactly which bit of the electorate Starmer is trying to reassure this week. He's already so far ahead in the polls. Where, precisely, is the soft bit he feels he needs to shore up?
