@BenjaminDEKR Humans are there for a reason. Many surprises could happen, room not ready, extra guest that was not mentioned in reservation, etc.

What is the point of hotel check-in desk people anymore? Why isn't this 100% automated? Verify your ID, pay, get entry code. Why are humans still doing this?

@ElementasSeries Shorter books means you can read one in the plane or train and hope to finish it in time.

Someone found out my first book is 277 pages and said, "Books less than 300 aren't worth my time." I've read many fantastic reads that were less than 300 pages. How sad to miss out on good books because of a page count.

I can’t believe I’m actually excited for Artemis now, this program was a mess and people with nostalgia boners used to defend the hell out of it without seeing the clear problems. Thank you so much Jared

Having grown up in a family of Air Canada pilots (father, brothers, nephew, niece training now), the horrific crash at LaGuardia airport strikes very close to home. My deepest, heartfelt condolences to the grieving families of the pilots, and to all those injured. May time and loving support help to heal, and to honour those whom we lost. May we also learn from this tragedy, to make air travel safer for all.

@_Zeets It is not normal. Why can't they train more ATC? It would not cost a fortune.

It’s normal for LaGuardia to have one person working air traffic control? Is that not insane?

@BenJohnEvery @NoLore 100 metres. Plane is also not built in the USA. Thirdly, this is either a cruel comment or bot. Blocked.

@TheIntelFrog Regardless of tower, you should check left and right before crossing an intersection. Same as with car, at green light, you wait a little in case someone pass their red light at full speed.

A lot have asked why Truck 1 apparently didn’t hear Tower’s direction to stop. Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) trucks are very loud, especially at speed on pavement. They’re equipped with large, off road, tires which have a very loud hum on pavement. Add that to the diesel engine roaring to propel the 60,000lb vehicle forward. Many trucks are equipped with headsets for the personnel to wear to mitigate some noise, but it’s still loud. Similar type of vehicle pictured below for reference.

UPDATE: Analysis of tower audio and map of the airport indicates the aircraft was showing a speed of 114kts or 131mph. JAZZ646 (yellow line) was cleared to land on Runway 4. Truck 1 & Company (green line) requested to cross RW 4 and was authorized to cross by the tower at taxiway D (red circle). Tower then attempts to call Truck 1 and tells them to stop multiple times. The silences and unrelated traffic has been trimmed from this audio, provided by @liveatc.

@Fahadnaimb You want the crew focus on this flight. This is not a psychological consult. It is like after a car accident, to avoid trauma, you have to drive to the same spot. For the crew, they need a normal day of work to go ahead.

Watch this Air Canada captain’s announcement before takeoff: ‘We extend our deepest sympathies to the families of those involved in yesterday’s LaGuardia incident. This is a difficult time for Air Canada. Thank you for your support, and we kindly ask that you do not ask the crew any questions about this event.’ Passengers were completely attentive during the safety demo. Smart balance of empathy, privacy for the crew, and normal operations.

Please pray for the Air Traffic Controller who made a mistake that led to loss of life. Their jobs are not easy and I can’t even imagine what he is going through right now. Also pray for the families of the deceased pilots and injured passengers.

@ScottLikedSLS The truck driver should check right and left before crossing a road or even the tarmac. For the same reason at green light, you wait a little to see if someone is passing the red light at full speed.

No offense but the ATC guy realised his mistake with plenty of time and screamed at the truck driver to stop and hold, they continued on despite 3 call outs to stop. Human error was involved but not really the ATC, more so the driver.
Blake Scholl 🛫@bscholl

Unpopular opinion: Today two pilots lost their lives because we have an air traffic control system inherently vulnerable to human error. Even great humans make mistakes sometimes. Machines should be issuing clearances, not human controllers.

The pilot who died after the collision on the tarmac at New York's LaGuardia Airport was from Coteau-du-Lac Quebec. He was 30-year-old Antoine Forest. Rest in peace ❤️🇨🇦

The latest episode is a bit of a flop so far - probably because we released it during March Madness 🤷🏾‍♂️. But I’m extremely grateful for the flood of support that has made this massive endeavor worth the extreme amount of effort it took to put together. Part 3 is the longest in the series at 120 minutes. I might try to consolidate some things or split it into two parts. But honestly I’m not sure if I can break it into any smaller of parts than I have already. I have a family funeral to prepare for and attend this week which will delay things bit. So I expect part 3 will be out within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Given everything that’s happening + the fact it’s basically parts 1 & 2 combined when it comes to complexity and length, that seams like a realistic timeline. We will beat flight 12 though for sure no matter what it takes. In the mean time, thanks to all the support, I’m just going to go ahead and buy that mini treadmill now. Should give me some time to figure out how to properly integrate it into part 3 scenes without it being weird. Huge thanks to everyone who has supported the channel. We continue to improve quality every single time. I will try to do a post Part 2 Q/A livestream sometime over the coming week if things pan out. 🕵🏾❤️

A Polish dance group, Fair Play Crew, drew global attention by recreating on stage the stiff and synchronized movements of 1980s fighting video games, such as the classic International Karate. I've seen this so many times, still cracks me up 😂

An English peasant in 1400 had the legal right to graze animals, fish the river, hunt, and gather wood He had no employer Needed no permission Had not dependency Between 1604 and 1760, Parliament passed 5,200 Enclosure Acts By 1850, 6.8 million acres of common land had transferred to private hands The man who could feed himself without an employer became a man who could not say no to one We called it progress

BREAKING: Microsoft confirms it’ll make Windows 11 a calmer OS with fewer upsells or ads. The company also says it will raise the bar on Windows 11 quality in 2026 and focus on performance over unwanted Copilot integrations. Microsoft says it'll improve driver quality, make apps stable, improve connections with Bluetooth accessories, reduce USB-related crashes and connection loss, and enable improved printer discoverability and connections. "The work is underway," says Microsoft. "You can expect to see tangible progress that you’ll be able to feel as you preview builds from us throughout the rest of the year."

Wikipedia rocks for anything that can't be skewed by political bias. Once you're in that territory, though... It's kinda useless. The Saturn V rocket? Sure. Gender Studies? No.
Larry Sanger@lsanger

Not gonna lie, a lot of Wikipedia articles still suck—just poor quality—and always were. People with the knowledge to make improvements are not generally motivated to participate. They are not welcomed or respected; often, they are driven away.
