@keremitough @fromsoftserve Unless you look at surface edges, it can be hard to tell the difference.
English

@fromsoftserve POM is so cool. Wish people stopped wrongly calling them displacement maps though

@CaptWrecked @AutismCapital Touch keyboards make it easy. On Windows, use ALT+0151 (numpad numbers). On a Linux distro, you use [Compose]---. Because US QWERTY KBs typically don't have a Compose key, distros may have an option to set a macro. I use RAlt+RSuper (the Windows keys are Super keys).

English

@AutismCapital I'm low key impressed with real people using an em dash. I have no clue how to even type one.

@Rythayze Thank you for the uplifting (heh) kitties on my bummer timeline.

@rainigma @PHOTONQ2 @ProtonDrive @Jundertag SBOM and attestations are nice and all, but (w/o manual verification via SigStore tools) the end user will be left with a "trust me bro" feeling. As a hobbyist, this has been a pain point over the years.
English

@PHOTONQ2 @ProtonDrive @Jundertag I like this comment. Anyone can claim open source and show a link, but ultimately we still trust that the compiled app is the actual unmodified open source code.
English

Impossible. We cannot see your files or photos (E2EE).
Although the pop-up is probably true.

wtf is this @ProtonDrive ????

@zeddikins Firefall? That dead MMO that was resurrected and killed at least three times in a short period of time?
English

@richardslamfist @RejectedShotgun There were two versions the Halo 2 Editing Kit. One was the one Bungie used; ass intact. The other had the ass removed. Guess which one Hired Gun accidentally shipped for consumers.
English

@RejectedShotgun Wasn't Microsoft mad that the halo 2 pc port had a .jpg of one of the devs asses that would pop up if you had an .ass error? I vaguely remember hearing somehting like this in my halo.bungie.org days
English

@natatthat @TheRealQuenny For the present, yes. But it depends on the PPI and viewing distance. That's why VR needs a > ~90Hz and why Apple branded Retina displays.
Some people can discern motion artifacts at nearly 40KHz.

@Kashiiera Correction: Unreal Version Control is just a wrapper for Perforce or SVN.
English

@Kashiiera There are other version control software that are good/better for this (e.g. Perforce P4 (Helix Core), Unity Version Control, Unreal Source Control), but you'll struggle to find a convenient repo host for them. I think a janky solution with Amazon's S3 Buckets would be possible.
English

@Kashiiera It is what it is. Converting them to text with repeating patterns would be even easier for Git to compress, but I don't know of anything that can losslessly convert WAV/PCM and BMP data to and from text while also being very compressible.
English

@Kashiiera Excited to see this back. Not busting you for it, I personally think that the H3O lighting engine looks a lot better than reaches lighting engine, so why the engine switch? Just wondering

@trucku_kun @BrodieOnLinux EQ sounds identical to Windows to me, but I do have it running through an old Astro mixamp for its particular Dolby Digital Headphones. That's USB audio. No cracking there. I have a PW script to connect the mixamp's LoopOut input device to my USB wireless headphones.
English

Let me introduce you to Linux and Pipewire

there is absolutely zero acceptable reason that in nearly 2030 a desktop computer can't use more than one audio device at a time
