Russia’s central theory of the war may be starting to crack. For two years, Moscow’s strategy has been to absorb brutal losses, keep grinding forward and convince Ukraine and the West that time is on Russia’s side.
But as of May 2026, the line has slipped below zero: Russia is no longer gaining ground on a net basis, it is losing it. That does not mean the war is over or that the Russian army is collapsing, but it does mean the map is no longer rewarding Russia’s attrition machine.

Others have corrected me that lower levels of classified info can be viewed outside of a SCIF, but no one has refuted my statement that classified info can’t be viewed on a screen that is connect to the open Internet.

Classified info can only be viewed on screens that are permanently disconnected from the Internet. They are in air-gapped SCIFs.

This is a massive and growing problem for American national security. Unbelievable amounts of sensitive and classified information is captured, scraped, and sent back to foreign nations. And users have no idea. Nobody expects that their TV or monitor is a surveillance tool. When I have joked that Smart TVs should be illegal, I am only half-joking.

Using the Pentagon podium to lash out at journalists in extreme biblical terms is unprecedented, misguided, and frankly wrong on the substance. Ever since Sunday School Catholic classes, I have been well aware of the Scribes and the Pharisees. They were the bad guys against Jesus, the good guy… in current U.S. good v evil war parlance. Bearing witness to the truth is what we journalists are commanded to do, without fear nor favor.
I am also well aware of the Ten Commandments, and therefore urge any government radical anywhere, to follow the 9th… against bearing false witness.
And finally an observation: the current Secretary of War, f/k/a Defence, left the military with the rank of Major. I recall my dogtag in the first Gulf war had the rank of major... the very same rank. Just sayin’!

I wish I recorded my husband’s rant when I asked him about the .30-06 question.
He rarely gets into that mode. But when he does… oh, yeah, the closest approximation is @grey4626 except in real life, sailor’s profanity and all.
He owns 100+ guns. He carries multiple guns. He’s a mechanical engineer. He’s been training our sons in guns from an early age.
The summary of his rant was: “DEER HEADS DON’T EXPLODE”
It’s that simple. And after his rant, I researched hunting forums and found plenty of examples where a .30-06 didn’t make an exit wound.
