I still don't understand if that's a real ceasefire for the duration of which Iran has truly agreed to reopen Hormuz or if Trump just pushed back the deadline by 2 weeks, declared the strait open and called that a ceasefire.

A recurring theme in Ian Toll's Pacific War trilogy is the benefits that accrued to the Americans from spending so much effort on rescuing downed naval aviators, vs. the Japanese, who did not.

I was impressed by the U.S. rescue of the downed airman. It is a rare remoralizig action, an elevation ritual, something good in modern society so bereft of such gestures. Great expense and effort to rescue fighters who might otherwise become prisoners further shows a high level competence. It elevates the prestige of a fighting force and its soldiers with good reason.
