Should they be sorry they appreciate your excellent performance on the show? I mean why do you think they bought tickets to watch some nyquilly performative broadway show? Yeah it takes effort to put on a show but the way youre responding to people who are both showing appreciation and basically asking for attention at the same time is inefficient.

We did. There was no “curated content” for kids. We watched what the grown-ups were watching. There were only 7 TV channels, and movies from the ‘50s & ‘60s (and ‘30s & ‘40s) were on all the time. That’s why we have much more film history awareness than kids raised in a bubble.
