#HeartTeam Here’s another paper from our group on the Heart Team! Last year, we published a survey on the current status of heart teams across 26 European countries. As expected, we found significant variability in the structure and execution of heart teams across different institutions. This systematic review reconfirms this variability while also providing evidence that the heart team approach improves patient care. Our Digital Cardiac Counseling Trial (DCC Trial) will be presented at @EACTS and simultaneously published in #JACC this Friday. This trial is unique in many aspects: -Multicentred RCT with 394 patients -Investigator-initiated RCT -Delivered a multimodal #teleprehabilitation program guided by shared decision-making from a multidisciplinary team, based on screened risk factors -Primary endpoint: clinically relevant major adverse cardiac events (MACE) from randomization up to 1 year postoperatively -First time a major RCT is being presented and simultaneously published in a renowned journal at a cardiac surgery meeting Join the late-breaking trial session this Friday to learn: -Is teleprehabilitation safe while waiting for #cardiacsurgery ? -What effect does teleprehabilitation have on MACE? -Can it help reduce known risk factors? -Does empowering #patients with tools to address these risk factors actually work? #Telesimulation for #HeartSurgery from the #Moon! Today, I conducted successful experiments with my #AppleVisionPro combined with the tele-simulators I developed for mitral valve surgery. Although we have already demonstrated the proof-of-concept for distance teaching and skill training using these interconnected online simulators (see publication here: journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/15…), the addition of Apple Vision Pro provided a multimodal #immersive teaching experience. This technology allows for direct #mixedreality teaching material to be readily available! Conducting this in an immersive environment, even from the moon, adds another layer of experience, showing that it can be done from anywhere. @Apple #Innovation #healthcare
