When we lived in the city, we knew we would homeschool because there was no way we’d ever send our kids to our neighborhood public school. We moved the summer before our oldest started kindergarten, to an area with an excellent public school district. A few days after we moved in, I realized I still had time to register her and in my mind I saw her getting on the bus and waving goodbye. Instantly I started bawling. That’s how I knew for sure that we were homeschooling. I could never be apart from my children all day.

I am a patriot and a Southerner. Every 4th of July, we celebrate. And I make it a point to listen to some music, and at least a few Confederate songs as well. 2nd South Carolina String Band. And it’s always an interesting feeling, because you know that America is gone forever. So it’s mournful, but it’s also sweet because you can’t kill that memory, which is held in the music. Now, it’s gotten to where all patriotic feelings are like this. It’s a celebration of our shared Nation, but also a bit sad because of what we lost along the way. Nevertheless, we move forward, we remember the past and mourn a little bit, but we continue to fight for what we love - even if it looks like a losing fight. We’ve been through worse, we will get through this too.

NEW: Texas man kills his unborn child after spiking his girlfriend's drink with an abortion pill. Jon Demeter has been indicted for the performance of an abortion and injury to a child. Back in February, his girlfriend was rushed to the hospital, cramping and bleeding after drinking a drink that her boyfriend gave her. The girlfriend was 14 weeks pregnant and had already named the baby Presley Mae. Demeter reportedly tried convincing her to get an abortion, and when she refused, he allegedly took matters into his own hands. "He covertly crushed that medication and mixed it in a water bottle with a Liquid I.V. packet. This was done with a specific intent to cause the death of the child," said Sheriff Wesley Doolittle. Demeter is facing 5 to 99 years in prison. Give him the max sentence.

@Peter_ORyan99 My husband's grandmother was an excellent cook. She had several. Her old one--1948, I think--got sent to the family cabin when she bought a new one. It's still there. I have her "new" one. It's 1965 or so, and I have the one I got after I married in 1988. Daughter has one too.

@jenteach13 The teachers I know say you couldn't pay them enough to make the job worthwhile. Many of the ones I know are leaving or have already left teaching. They say kids just aren't to behave by their parents, and they say the system is broken If I had kids now, I'd homeschool.

@MrsCMFrancis When I read little snipets of history, I find 12 kids being raised in a two-room shack. My great aunt and uncle raised their three, plus twins of a family member who died soon after childbirth--all in a 1200-ish sq ft. home that was always clean and full of joy.

I am yet to find any children's toy that is more versatile and engaging than a random cardboard box or empty plastic bottle. I am increasingly convinced that baby and toddler toys are to make the parents feel good. Kind of like designer baby clothes.

Apparently it's "Earth Day." This Earth Day, Wasson Watch Co. gives all glory, honor, and praise to God, who made the Heavens and the Earth and all Creation in just 6 days. The earth and everything in it belongs to him. It's his foot-stool. Honestly, it's good for us, as stewards of what God has made, to take care of it to the extent that we are able, with the knowledge that we are not able to control everything. But we must not drift into the false religion of environmentalism and climate-change alarmism. We do not control the weather or the climate. God does. We can do our best to try to predict both, but even that is an incredibly difficult task to do with consistent accuracy and precision. There is nothing wrong with wanting to take care of the earth, or valuing it for what it is: part of God's good creation, and our home for the time being. But let's keep it all in perspective.

I was talking with a buddy who lives in Auburn, Alabama and I could not believe what I just heard. Apparently, the Republican Sheriff in Lee County is not helping the Trump Administration go after criminal illegal aliens. The sheriff, a guy named Jay Jones, is not participating in the 287g program which deputizes local law enforcement to help ICE enforce federal immigration law. They just had an incident last week where a Guatemalan illegal immigrant shot a sheriff’s deputy when the officers attempted to arrest the criminal illegal for first degree rape. Likely wouldn’t have happened if the supposed “Republican” sheriff was in the 287g program because local officers could enforce federal law during routine procedures instead of waiting for illegals to commit violent crimes before sending them over to ICE. Lee County was R+28 in the 2024 election and is home to around 35,000 college students at Auburn University. We have just had two high profile cases where young college girls have been brutally murdered by criminal illegals aliens—Sheridan Gorman at Loyola and Laken Riley at the University of Georgia. This sheriff, Jay Jones, has been in office for 27 years and has a primary coming up on May 19 against one of his former deputies—a guy named Cam Hunt. Apparently, Jones fired Hunt on the spot when he told the sheriff he was going to run against him. It’s reported Hunt was given no chance to resign or take a leave of absence. Oh—and Hunt says if he wins, he will join 287g to help ICE and better protect Auburn students. A no brainer. What in the hell is going on @LeeCoSheriffAL? How can a GOP sheriff tasked with protecting young college students REFUSE to participate in 287g to better go after criminal illegals? Especially after one of his deputies just got shot? May be time to take a closer look at this issue. CC: @SenTuberville @CoachforGov Have you seen this? What is happening in a deep red state and community like Auburn, Alabama?
