The APPG on Global LGBT+ Rights no longer exists, as Parliament has been dissolved until after the General Election.

Today we are celebrating International Pronouns Day.🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️   Pronouns Matter. We must normalize respecting, sharing, & educating about personal pronouns to ensure a more inclusive society.

Co Chair @LizBarkerLords asked what is being done to document the impact of the bill will have on the Ugandan public health & economy. Uganda’s progress on its HIV response is now in grave jeopardy. The Act has already led to reduced access to prevention and treatment services.

Lord Fowler Vice Chair of the APPG today asked the government what is being done to help the LGBT+ in Uganda.   The LGBT community in Uganda is on lockdown now. They don't have HIV preventive and treatment services.

Lord Popat the UK Ugandan Trade Envoy stated that the Anti-Homosexuality Act of 2023 violates multiple fundamental rights guaranteed under Uganda’s constitution. The Act will not only impact the LGBT+ community it will impact the Ugandan economy.

On Monday, MPs across parties stood up for our world-class Equality Act in Parliament. The UK Government must commit to protecting our hard-won rights. The Equality Act is effective legislation that protects us all from discrimination and harassment - including trans people 🏳️‍⚧️

In the debate relating to the definition of sex I’ve just spoken up for the Equality Act and spoke up for our trans and non-binary friends. Let me say clearly as #Plymouth’s first out MP I am a trans and non-binary ally. I believe in equality. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Minister for Equalities @StuartAndrew and Hungarian MP and Chair of the Hungarian Parliament's LGBT Intergroup David Bedo MP discussed anti-LGBT laws in Hungary and the crucial work being done by the Intergroup, civil society and activists to stand up for the LGBT+ community.

It was a privilege to host Hungarian MP and Chair of the Hungarian Parliament LGBT Intergroup David Bedo. Parliamentarians cross-party met with him to show solidarity with the LGBT+ community of Hungary amidst an increasing roll-back of LGBT+ rights both in Hungary and beyond.

Officers of the APPG have written to the Minister for Women and Equalities urging a draft Bill banning conversion practices be published in April at the latest as "the safety and wellbeing of many LGBT+ people in this country depends on it". bit.ly/3z9bAQj
