🚀Super excited to share results from our joint study w/ @OcampoLab showing brain-specific partial reprogramming ameliorating cognitive decline. More evidence for the CNS potential of reprogramming, as we saw in Alzheimer's previously! (as did Altos Labs) prnewswire.com/news-releases/…

He empezado el día de la mujer cayéndome de la cama al girarme para apagar el despertador. Lo veo como una metáfora de la situación actual de la mujer. Aparentemente bien y cómodas, pero cuando intentas avanzar un poco te h0stias.

Important text by @MathiasJucker about accidental inoculation of seeds that can cause Alzheimer's disease many decades later. Under extraordinary circumstances, Alzheimer’s disease may be transmitted by a prion-like mechanism — yielding insights into both the basic biology of this neurodegenerative disorder and strategies for early prevention. Banerjee et al. describe 8 cases involving individuals who received cadaver-derived human growth hormone for pituitary insufficiency early in life and who, more than three decades later, developed cognitive impairment and/or biomarker changes consistent with Alzheimer’s disease. Happy to share our collaborative preprint with @neurocientific and Ruediger Klein. We show that Yamanaka factors induction expand the cortex and enhance cognitive skills. Moreover, their induction protect against neurodegeneration in a mouse model of AD. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

What's the biggest difference between a neuron from a young vs. an aged primate? It is not the length of the axon and dendrites, but the number of spines available to make contact and connections with other surrounding neurons! 3D recon. made with @ImarisSoftware #neuroscience
